Game Description
Summon horde of animals to feed your spider and get the highest score.
How does your game tie into the theme?
It's a bit simplistic, but the theme is around repurposing blocks. How you first have to run from animals and then eat them.

Impressive! The 15 second counter seems a bit arbitrary. However it does make it less slow paced into a very fast pace quick strategy. If you wanted to keep the instructions simpler you could probably opt for the creatures to automatically fall and when the shaman moves they just move faster. That way the player can full focus on the creatures as opposed to the timer.
I honestly found this one pretty confusing and couldn't really get the hang of it, but could see how it could be challenging and fun once the player gets the hang of it.
Gotta give massive props for the art style though, loved the sprite work and the colour theory.
Took me a bit to understand but actually super solid gameplay!
Record:
WOW Thanks! You actually played a good amount to get that score :O
Thank you for playing and finding it fun!
This was a really interesting idea.
I could not summon a spider to save my life. I read through your instructions twice. I went through your in-game tutorial. Every time I pressed Enter, whether the bar was full or not, the whole map reset.
seems like a neat little game, but I couldn't play it.
OMG sorry. You weren't supposed to press enter... enter resets the game. That was dumb of me to write without context LOL
And I didn't even have visual clue that it reset.
You just have to move and play for 15 seconds and then spider would spawn automatically on top.
Sorry, I hope you give it a try again. But regardless thank you for trying it out!
I tried it again, and I could get one spider, then I'd eat something and it would die. I'd get another human, and then no matter what I did, they would die.
Unfortunately, I didn't understand it 100%, but it looks very nice from the graphic.
Thanks! 100% next time I am making something easier to explain how to play haha
Nice submission! I really liked the visual feel and the sound effects in the game. I had trouble getting my spider to eat enough of the animals so my screen filled up pretty fast.
Yeah it was supposed to last only for a couple of spider rounds before screen is fully filled. Didn't get time to implement proper mechanics that would let you manipulate the board :/
Thanks for playing though! I appreciate you liking how art and sound tied together
The style and feel of the game is great, especially for a first effort! I think there’s a kernel of a very cool game here. But, even with reading the updated description and some of the comments, I have no idea how to play (or rather, how not to die). You might record some game play that shows us what to do to get started.
Yeah! Honestly it was a terrible idea to create this game without interactive tutorial. Which was supposed to be there LOL
Thanks for playing I appreciate you giving it a try!
Impressive first game! I was a bit confused why I kept dying when the timer ran out but eventually I didn’t die and could act as a spider eating other animals. I thought the sounds and art tied well together. I am not sure if I missed it but where were the achievements?
Thanks a bunch for playing!
You probably kept dying because you didn't fill the bar at the bottom of the timer. It was meant to be there because world moves when you do so you could just camp and not spawn extra animals without it.
Achievement is really barebones implementation. You get it when you surpass your previous score in a new run. Glad you liked how sound tied, I wasn't the most confident about that part.
That's a nice profile pic btw
Thanks! Thallos on my team drew it for a DnD character I played
Ahhh I love the visuals and the idea of being a shaman summoner and summoning spiders - but I had a bit of difficulty understanding what I was supposed to do?? I figured out how to summon a spider - but then my spider would eat one thing and either die or turn into a pizza?? Not really sure what I was doing wrong.
That said, this seems really cool and is such an interesting take on the theme!! I had fun playing and realizing I had to move around quickly to be able to summon spiders. Was kinda sad my little shaman guy had to die though!
Thanks for playing!
Yeah I didn't really do a good job explaining the concept of the game :/ I updated description with better how to play than tutorial so maybe that would help if you want to try one more time.
It was supposed to be cobweb but well pizza works too haha
Nice music, art and an original concept. Sometimes I seem to die randomly even if no animal falls on my head...
That was a bug that happened to me once or twice. I hoped it wouldn't happen when other people are playing.
I might try and fix it after the jam. Thanks for playing!
I love the simplicity and for a first project in Godot I think it's pretty impressive (at least from the eyes of a fellow new user), especially on the cohesive style.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you like the style!
I really love the audio and the whole style feels very cohesive. It was very satisfying when the colours lined up and my spider could monch on a bunch of animals. Good job incorporating all the wildcards as well! I planned to but ran out of time in the end lol.
Thanks for playing and I'm glad you liked it!
Yeah it was definitely a challenge to implement everything. There wasn't even supposed to be score but bunch of achievement style quests you where supposed to do and once you do all of them you win. Let's both do the better planning next time haha
Nonsense! Poor planning is a game jam tradition
I didn't quite grasp it but I think if you explained it a bit more in the pages description it would be a really polished game!
Yeah didn't really have time for proper tutorial :s
Basically blocks spawn each 4 steps when you are human and you have to doge them. There is 15 second timer after which human dies and you summon spider. Spider eats animals, but after it eats first animal it turns into it's that color and if you eat another color you die. Human corpse resets color to neutral. And once you eat first animal you can't step on empty block anymore. When spider dies it leaves cobweb that can't be interacted with and you become human again.
Basically that's it but definitely could have explained it better ingame. Thanks for trying it out though!
Thanks for the reply, That explains a lot, please do me a favor and put that in the description of the game's page, your game is really fun and I think more people should be able to experience it!
Smart! Will do haha
Really unique game, I love shamans and i enjoyed this! Definetly took me a second to understand whats going on, but it was great
Thanks! My main concern is that it would be too complicated to understand.
I'm glad you figured it out, and thanks for playing!
Pretty unique game, felt like a lot was out of my control though and bad spawns would make the colors alternate too much for the spider to eat enough.
Honestly impressive for a first Godot project!
Thanks, yeah I got really comfortable in godot thanks to it
Wish I started earlier on it, you where supposed to be able to push animals around to setup big chains and more control over the board... but lesson learned for planning next time.
Thanks for playing!
Took a while for me to figure out what was going on but thats my own fault because I didnt go through the tutorial, but I really liked this a lot when I understood it, cool use of the theme and great work for a first submission!
Thanks! My main concern is that it would be too hard to figure out how to play. Didn't have time to make proper interactive tutorial like I wanted. But well, live and learn.
Thanks for playing!
