The real criminal is Poppy.
Great start! I felt like understood the mystery but not how to submit the answer. Reading the evidence felt easy enough and I felt like clues were well presented. I'm not sure how this is different from other detective games.
This isn't necessarily my genre, but I had fun trying to solve the first mystery. I ultimately couldn't figure out how to proceed. Anyways, tried my best to summarize my feedback at the end
I like the detective work, but as TryHardStudio pointed out, I failed to find the logic in the cases, and the 3rd one I couldn't solve despite my best attempts. I think an important thing missing is getting some idea of how many scenes are still missing, or how many scenes some characters have. I like the mechanic though, and the genre is great, I think the fun can be there with a bit more consistency and juice (some UI completion feeling). Good luck!!
Hi There, I struggled to understand what was going on with this but I am glad I persevered as this is actually pretty awesome and has loads of potential! I think the first murder mystery is super unclear - there is a red dude standing in the wardrobe who you can see through the slats which made me assume he was the culprit - I don't know why the culprit and murder weapon were what they were - I just guessed. The second one was a little frustrating because I got the victim and murder weapon right but the culprit was someone different and I don't know why it was them - the murder weapon was on the hip of someone else in one of the scenes so that was who I assumed the culprit was. The third one with the camera was where I was simultaneously like - this is awesome and holy moly, there are waaaaay to many options for me to chose from here! Its so open with the camera that it gets very overwhelming quickly - I don't understand why there are multiple picture slots in the inspection thingy, am I expected to combine photos and inspect them together? I think you need a mechanic to let the player know what is a valid photo target or at least once they have taken the photo, whether it is worth inspecting, otherwise the options are basically endless!
An idea I just had was what if instead you had like one of those investigation boards like the image attached and clicking on different pins takes you to different scenes and then you have to use the camera to populate the empty photos on the board for each pin and that slowly reveals the story and then from that you figure out who the culprit/murder weapon/victim is as it would give you a framework of photos you need to find in each scene. Not sure if any of that makes sense and its just a random idea. Basically, I think you need to give the player a framework to use the camera in as its too vast at the moment.
hey I just played this and left feedback on the discord!
***SPOILERS AHEAD***
Cool idea and mechanics. Of course a lot could be improve in the matter of presentation but in regard of the gameplay I liked the game a lot. What I find could be improved would be the design of the puzzles. I mostly ended solving them by process of elimination instead of by logic. I no expert in detective games and couldn't solve sh1t in "Return of the Obra Dinn" but still couldn't find the solutions satisfying:
On the first one I failed to see why the lamp was the murder weapon, I started with the flower base just because it was the closest one to the husband and tried everything until I got the lamp. But couldn't really find any logic or indication. Also I don't understand the narrative. I'm guessing the wife was cheating and the husband killed her? But if she got caught why is the other guy still hiding in the closet. And who entered by the window? The lover? Did he just sneaked in to f*ck while the husband was in the house? That doesn't make any sense so I'm guessing the husband came back early from traveling. Somehow saw the both from the window and entered from there? A bit of a stretch that's the only reason I could find for the footprints outside the window. But if he saw them then again why the red guy still in the closet. I don't know seems weird and not at all satisfying.
The rest of the cases are really similar, at the bank robbery a fifth guy was the killer but I couldn't really find any evidence of the fifth guy existing, and he didn't even take the money so I don't know what that was about.
And at the third there was just to many options so I couldn't solve the case solved by elimination. I may just be really bad a these games or maybe the puzzles and narrative need a lot of work. Either way I like the idea and could certainly see it working after a bit of work. Keep it going!
