Nice mix of classic games. I like how the transition from the fighting to the match3 mode works by letting the player move out of the screen.

this is definitely a pretty cool idea and an interesting mashup of genres, i think the first ways i would improve this is making so the game feels better to play in terms of feel (stuff like tweening animations or generally making animations more responsive and immediate)... the game right now suffers from having not much to really get from the repurposing stage but thats something the dev already knows about and wants to work on after the rating period, but like it would be interesting to see in conjuction to making it so that specific pieces of trash that specific enemies drop give different materials... add a map in the style of FTL or slay the spire and you have a pretty neat roguelike on your hands! definitely a lot of potential for this entry i think

Developer(+1)

Thanks for rating and encouragement.

You are right about gamefeel. I'm aware that I usually prioritize game systems, so that animations and stuff like that come last.

Different trash already produces limited kinds of materials and you can tactically try different mixes a what materials you can gain from them. In the next version, there will be a possibility to refill your recycler in certain level of matter in it with a single Trash only, so you would get even more control over what matter is added. Yes, different Invaders would deserve some sort of personality too.

Traveling between planets and implementing events (even a hint of a story) is something I definitely considered. I'm a big fan of FTL and STS, so I always wanted to implement a system like this. But that is a lot of work and I also have another project in the works and I'm not sure if I'm ready to abandon it for this one at the moment.

Cool entry! I like mechanic of catching items!

It's good idea to build up extra mechanic on just good classic space invader foundation.

Good job and congratulations on your fist submission! Waiting for more!

Developer

Thanks for playing. I'm preparing post rating version that should be even more polished and fun because of the possibility to buy upgrades!

Nice submission! I liked the matching game the best. I am bad at dodging the bullets coming from the enemies, so I could've used easier extra lives 😅 One nitpick is I think the game could've benefited from sound control to change the volume of the music vs the sound effects separately to tone down the bullet noise. All in all, a good game!

Developer

Yea. The lives are a bit expensive. I wanted to compensate for the fact that there is nothing else to buy. It should be easier to buy them for cheaper (and also, with better planetary shields, you shouldn't be hit as much then).

Yea, sound/music was a complete afterthought for me added in the very last hour of development. Maybe I'll consult someone to even these up.

The space invaders was just okay but I really liked the addition of the grabber and the matching minigame. I had a glitch where the matching game had a button over the tiles to leave and sometimes I couldn't add resources to play more but other than that it was a fun combination of classics. Nice entry!

I agree with Jwrede, love a good space invaders. And adding the grapple twist in a fun addition. And then the mini-game, this has games within games

Can never go wrong with some classic space invaders, really clean game!

Submitted(+1)

This shows great potential. It is an interesting mix between different things. The graphics are clean, I like it.

At first what I thought to be just a match 3 mini-game, is in fact better once I figured out what the energy is for. I like that you can move things around even if you are not making a match.

Good submission, I would be interested to play it again with more upgrades.

A good looking game with 2 all time classics mixed. Gameplay felt polished, music, sfx and graphics are solid for what era they were trying to simulate. I didn't play for long as it isn't my taste, but regardless of that, well done game!

Developer

Thanks for the rating Mc, I appreciate it. :)

This was an interesting mashup. The space invaders feels like your classic game, plus the grabbing of trash, and need to go off screen at the end of each wave for the mini-game. It could use with some instructions on the game page to let players know how it works. When I got to the hangar, I wasn't initially sure what to do. When I figured out how to fill the grid with trash, it was not immediately apparent that it was meant to be a match 3 game, so I tried dragging things to other areas of the screen, before testing where they could go and figured out what it was. Even a comment about the hangar being a match 3 mini-game would help to give basic guidance on what to do, though a comment on where to start when getting to the hanger to load the game would also be helpful. One other thing I think it would be nice to know in advance would be basic instructions on how the mini-game energy/fuel works

Thanks for playing and for the feedback.

I actually had couple of hints implemented at first (the same style the grapple pauses the game for the first time it appears), but my early testers found most of that that help redundant and annoying. I'm still working on how the mechanics could be communicated and I will definitely implement those improvements after the rating period is done.

Man I had so much fun with 3match game! I really wish the space ship part was something different or faster to beat I like shmpus but not that space invaders style and there is just too many enemies. But the loop of collecting scrap, filling the machine and then having to 3match it was fun as heck!

I think the game could benefited a lot from some tweening after certain actions. Had fun playing 3 match section tho.

That thumbnail immediately grabbed my attention btw

Developer(+1)

The shooting part was supposed to benefit from upgrades bought for the resources gained in the Recycler part. New weapons, different shields, possibility to donate the water and biomass to the planet to improve their population etc. were supposed to bring variety to that otherwise repetetive gameplay. Some of these upgrades are technically already implemented, but there was no time to create the UI for you to buy them.
There should be definitely more animation and fluff to the game events, yes.

I totally get you! Planning jams is hard I didn't even get half the stuff I wanted to implement in mine either xd

Sadly looks like the swapping mini game for materials can be exploited by hitting fill over and over. I love the graphics everything comes well together. Gave me nostalgia for space invaders. For some weird reason items started picking up on their own out of no where. You did great with the sound design and giving feed back. Hope to see you have more submissions in the future!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for feedback. I'm already aware of these bugs and I think I know how to fix them even.  Welp, it was a last minute submission and I'm glad I pulled it as it is. Even though lot of features had to be scrapped.

Maybe I'll give it some effort and release a more complete version after the voting is over.

Glad you liked the sounds. It was kind of an afterthought that was added on last day. Nobody likes to play in silence. :)

Submitted

To be fair I did the same thing. No shame in that!

Developer(+1)

Just to inform you, I was allowed to resubmit the game with both issues fixed (self grabbing trash and the Recycler filling dialogue). In case you would like to try it again.

i've never played a game with a 'crane game' in the main gameplay! awesome! also, puyo fuel sequence was v cool.

Developer(+2)

Thank you. The idea of repurposing retrieved resources somehow installed that 'crane game' into my vision very early into this project. There are supposed to be upgrades to the Grapple Arm, the ship and the planetary shields. Some of them are even practically implemented, but there was no time to do the UI for actually buying them, so the only thing that can be bought is an extra life (and I made it so expensive that it is unlikely for someone to actually use it :D ).
