Very cool! We actually looked at doing a vertical view in our game but decided not to because of the perspective complications. Interesting to see how you tackled it! The moving other objects giving reference to depth was a nice touch. It def takes a second to get your bearings but once it clicks it's a fun puzzle.

Very cool idea! I was a bit confused as to why you need to switch views at first because I didn't realise that the fish would be at different depths, I didn't understand why I kept missing the fish and then it clicked! It immediately made me think of Fez, was that an inspiration? The art style is cool too and looks very cohesive. The only thing I found annoying was the automatic view switching, and I agree with other commenters that being able to rotate around could be an improvement, it might give a better sense of the depth. Overall I think this has a lot of potential if you decide to expand it, I'd be interested to see what puzzles you can come up with!
Thanks so much for playing and the feedback!
Do you think both auto view switches are annoying, or specifically the one after your fishing hook returns?
Fez wasn't an inspiration but you're the second person to mention it, definitely interested in checking it out!
The main inspirations that came up in our development were crane machines, the Club Penguin fishing minigame, and Captain Toad :)
Vey cool idea, maybe adding the camera rotation it would have been much better! Still nice and funny to play! Very chill music and sounds too
I liked the idea, but I felt like I had little depth perception on where the fish were. Maybe being able to rotate the view? Also, not having the camera swap back to the top view if I am fishing from the side would be nice. It would be interesting if making too many holes had a consequence other than score loss. liked the last level, but still being able to solve it with one hole was a little underwhelming. I think larger levels where you need to make multiple holes (min. 2 or 3) would be the most interesting, as I liked searching in the side view to find fish crossings but after making one hole the puzzle was solved and catching the fish became cleanup
I also liked some of the environment details in the underwater scenes
Thanks for playing and the feedback!
If I could make one quick fix right now it would absolutely be the forced camera switch to the top upon catching a fish, I've played through it a few times and agree with you there.
For the depth perception, that's a feedback we've seen a few times and we've been brainstorming ways to give additional hints into the 3d space without completely giving away the puzzle. If we decide to expand the game after the jam, that will be our top priority! Rotating the side view is a good idea.
And completely agreed that theres a lot more to be explored in the level design than we did here! Really like your ideas!
Again really appreciate the detailed feedback here :)
eheh. Thanks, Carl -w-
Very sweet game! It reminded me of when I used to play Fez, which I loved, so good job! I agree with Sam: sometimes, especially when the fish are not moving perpendicularly to the camera, you kind of have to guess where they are because I feel like you don't have enough cues. Overall though I really liked the experience!
What a great little game! It’s short, simple, and sweet. Excellent distinct visuals and great music and sound effects too. Great job on your first ever jam, y’all should be proud!
What a cool idea! Love the changing camera and trying to puzzle out where to make holes. Enjoyed this one a ton!
This was really cool. Found myself wanting to play more.
I know it doesnt make sense. But, I was hoping id be able to catch multiple fish at once by timing it right.
Cool game! Interesting puzzles too that really do require looking from both perspectives. Reminds me of the claw game. Well done!
