It's very impressive, I think, as it's a collection of minigames centered around the idea of building a snowman. The transitions were very entertaining to watch with their physics. The artwork is very well done and harmonious, as is the music. I finished a snowman, but I must say that I had a little trouble moving the mouse in the harvesting game (I used the laptop's touchpad, not a separate mouse), and I couldn't find a way to undo changes in the snowman creator.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed those parts of our game.

And thank you for your feedback. Trackpads was a bit of a blind spot on our testing, so we'll definitely have to learn from this and test that out more in the future. Thank you for pointing that out, sorry it didn't work very well for you.

And undoing decoration was something that was on the list of features, but we ran out of time in the end, so it didn't make the final cut, sorry about that.

Thanks for taking the time to play our game!

Cute game! But omg that poor tree, I didn't see to hold the button and just kicked randomly so much haha.

Developer

Hahaha, oh no!

Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

It's really good, a minigame for each collection, the art and the different mechanics for creating that snowman seemed fantastic to me.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed playing!

Submitted(+1)

That was so charming haha excellent work, I enjoyed everything except trying to harvest the carrot! It was a really well done mechanic but I was struggling. The style of the mini games, the falling objects as transition screens, kicking a tree to take his branches, that was a wild ride! Excellent work!

What did the QR code do?? I was trying to harvest the carrot, the QR code went behind the box and I couldn't scan it!

Developer (3 edits) (+1)

Thank you! I'm going to have to give the person who made that carrot farming game a stern talking to about making things more intuitive! (it was me, haha, sorry about that.)

I'm glad you had fun with our game. Thank you for playing!

Oh a QR code? I don't seem te recall a QR code in our game.

Congratulations! You are the first one to see (or atleast mention) cilbi's special easter egg. It contains a Youtube link to the 1987 smash-hit pop song "Never Gonna Give You Up" by the famed English musician, Rick Astley.

Submitted(+1)

Haha no worries! It still is an excellent feature, and was engaging and interesting, it just had some issues that made it a little more challenging and less engaging than the sticks and coal mine! Again, excellent work, such a good submission! The QR code was such a fun idea, I wish I could have gotten it to work haha!

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Hey, other programmer here. What you saw is pretty rare. Like spobuboblingo said, you're the first person to call that out, so I'm glad someone finally caught that. There's actually a second variant of that easter egg which is even rarer, though. God forbid you (or anyone else) see that one:

I was not entirely sober when I wrote this, and it was originally meant to be a joke, but in the end we decided to keep it in.

Submitted(+2)

These follow up notes are hilarious hahaha that is amazing! When I saw the QR code drop down, I desperately tried to set up my phone and we unable to get it! I thought it was such a great addition and it got my attention and more of my engagement. Excellent work to both of you!

So simple, but so cool! I managed to do some very... interesting snowmen, let's put it like that :D A little bit sad about a black areas with no snow, maybe it would be better just leave them with less snow, kinda blue or smth? Anyway, cool game!

Developer

Thank you for playing! I've made some interesting snowmen in my time too, haha. The more interesting thwe better in my book!

That's a good point with the snow, surely it would leave some residue, thank you for the idea!

Very cute game and art style! The art for the title page is very pretty, the music feels very cozy, and the whole concept for the game fits the theme perfectly! I loved the transitions! The ideas for the different mini games were cute, my favourite was riding the mining cart! The only issue I had was that the controls were a bit tricky, especially for the farming game, and picking up snowballs was a bit hard because they would start rolling when I got close enough to pick one up! Aside from that it's a very polished and cute concept, and the photograph at the end is a really sweet idea! I felt bad for kicking the tree though! Good job, it's a very solid game!

Developer

Thank you! It means a lot to hear that we did a good job on all those aspects of the game. The artist and sound guy worked really hard on their pieces, so I'll definitely have to pass the message along that their work turned out well. I'm really glad you liked the game! The minecart riding is my favorite too! Had a lot of fun testing that one out when making the game.

Thank you for the points of feedback on the controls. The carrot minigame is a bit confusing looking back on it now, sorry about that. It'll definitely need to be touched up to make it feel better.  And that's a good point with the snowballs, I'll have to put some thought into desinging that to make it that control more intuitively. Thank you for those points of feedback!

I'm really glad you enjoyed! Thank you so much!

Cute idea and enjoyable minigames! I really love it! One things I have noticed is when you place something on the snowman you cannot change it. My first one was very ugly XDXD Great game!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed.

Taking the items off was something we really wanted to squeeze in, but we ran out of time in development. But, yeah that's just how jams go haha.

Sorry that messed up your first snowman, haha, but hey, in my eyes, no snowman is ugly, they're just unique.

Thanks for playing!

This is such a cute game. Love it so much. I love having a creative goal and the minigames are fun ways to get there. Like a snowman… it’s only as good as you make it. It’s just like real life :’)

Developer

Thank you so much.  I really appreciate your kind words, and I'm glad you had fun playing the games.

And I'm really happy the feeling of creative freedom made it through to the final product. We really wanted people to have the freedom to make whatever they want, because, like you said, its more real that way, more personal.

Thank you for playing our game!

Sadly, I don't think the photo feature saved the file like you hoped.  Searched all around the general file area recommended and couldn't find a folder for this game anywhere in my user data.  Thankfully I did decide to just take a screenshot of my snowman creations myself.

Overall, a nice a cute game. Minigames were pretty nice, though I don't think I could wrap my mind around how the gardening one worked in particular. It did not seem too responsive to my mouse. All the other ones were nice though. Music worked pretty well on loop and the art style is cute and on theme with the game jam.

Nice job.

Developer(+1)

Oops, well that's a little embarrassing. I guess I ought to make a note on the page. I'll have to look into that. Suppose that's a lesson in more extensive testing. I'm glad you happened to take a screenshot otherwise.

I really like your snow people (the one on the right is my favorite) they're all so creative.

I'm glad you liked the rest of the game too (sans the carrot game, it did come out a bit rough, thank you for being honest there haha)

Thank you for playing, and thank you for all the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

It's cool to see we both had a similar idea, Nice job!

Developer (1 edit)

Haha yeah, great minds think alike I suppose!

And it's pretty cool how different the end products can turn out when they come from a similar idea.

That's one of the best things about game jams. All the games have similar elements from the theme and restrictions, but each person and team brings their own unique perspective.

Thank you for playing!

I think the game has a great atmosphere; it really has that cozy feel, and the music matches the game content perfectly , and the transitions between scenes is good too.

The size of the snowman that can be decorated changes depending on the size of the snowball, which is pretty cool and shows that you've put a lot of thought into the snowman decoration game mechanics.

Good job!

Submitted(+1)

Really nice the minigames were interesting and uniq but sadly it was really hard to understand them because of tutorials are i wish there were better tutorials to explain it. but over all really good art style the music and the sfx are nice the transition was a bit glichy but wase really good, over all really nice game!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! How quickly people can pick up the minigames was something I've wondered about, so I suppose there's some room to improve there.

I'm glad you liked some of the other parts though, Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Very delightful! I had been hoping someone might incorporate this kind of snowball rolling mechanic into their game because it's a real life thing that feels so game-y and satisfying.  All the sfx and music are spot on in creating the atmosphere, and I love how hands on the snowman customisation is. Thanks for sharing your game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Snowball rolling was really fun to fiddle around with when trying to get it right. I would have loved to see your rolling system. You should try making it some time!

I'll let the audio guy know you liked it, thank you!

Thank you for playing our game! I'm glad you enjoyed!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for the feedback! The sound design for this game was very fun!

Submitted(+2)

Your game is great. The music creates a fantastic atmosphere, I really liked the transitions between scenes, and you can do whatever you want with your snowman. Your game is the definition of freedom.

Developer

Thank you! I'll let the one who composed the music know you liked it!

Freedom was one of the main goals so I'm glad that got across to the player!

I'm glad you had fun playing our game! thank you for playing!

Developer(+1)

The freedom of building a snowman was exactly what we envisioned and I'm really happy with how it all turned out, thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+1)

This game is super good. I love how you can decorate the snowmen however you like. I had some small problems with the Plowing minigame because I found it hard to complete it due to my mouse sensitivity being quite high. I really enjoyed this game. The art and gameplay were really good. Amazing job!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, it was really important to us that players have the freedom to make whatever kind of snowmen they want. I'm glad you enjoyed that aspect.

Thank you for the feedback on the plowing minigame. It ended up a bit rougher than I'd hoped haha. I'll definitely have to go and improve that once the voting period is over.

Thanks you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I LOVE THIS GAME!! It's so cute and 100% fits the theme of the jam! All the minigames are enjoyable and definetly help with making a better experience. The visual language from the map design and instructions from each game works really well as i almost understood everything instantly. This game is amazing!

The only issue i have with this is the carrot game as it felt a bit unintuitive at first (but i think i misinterpreted the instructions as i was continuing to drag even though it was saying to release my click) after getting it down though it was honestly really fun.

Developer

Thank you so much! That's very kind and it really means a lot to hear. I'm glad you enjoyed playing the game, and I'm overjoyed you found most of it to be intuitive. That was one of the main concerns in design since there were so many different things going on.

The carrot minigame though, I see what you mean, its a little clunky. Originally the intent was for you to be able to continue dragging while you got the mouse 2 prompts, and that's the way it works on desktop, but something happened with the web build that makes it eat your inputs when you're holding down mouse 1.

Suppose that's a bit of a lesson in time management, I'll have to allot more time for testing in the future.

In any case, we all really appreciate the feedback. Thank you for playing!

SO SWEET!! It reminded me of making snowmen in Animal Crossing, those were the days... 😟❤️ Also the transitions were 10/10, well done!

I wanted to ask though, is the cover image AI generated?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Hey thank you! I'm glad you liked the game.

I appreciate you asking outright. As far as I'm aware it's not, this was made by a different artist than the rest of the project's art, so it probably looks a bit different. But now that you mention it, I'm not sure anymore, so I'm replacing it with one I know for certain is not AI. I'm going to look into it.

Edit: I was not able to 100% confirm whether or not the image in question was made using any AI. I'm keeping the current image for the time being.

Submitted(+2)

Really appreciate your honest reply! And please tell whoever made that snowman art you replaced the old cover art with that I L O V E the dithering pattern they used, I noticed it in the game title menu! So original! Great choice 💪

Developer(+1)

Of course, the only way to make sure art stays meaningful and retain its humanity is to be candid with eachother.

She was absolutely overjoyed to recieve your message. She says thank you!

Submitted(+2)

Cute little game but I felt bad for the tree! Some the carrots I got were pretty weird, I loved them! Well done :)

Submitted(+1)

Really cute game, but oh my goodness that poor tree! I love the idea of multiple minigames like this, and I think you did a good job with it! The transition screens are really fun as well.
