Very fun little game, reminded me of some similar puzzles in the professor layton games so it made me quite nostalgic! And the bonus snowman editor is so cute! I noticed another comment suggesting that the snow should lock to the grid and I definitely agree since I had some issues with the character getting stuck in strange spots. I think I'd also prefer a slightly faster slide speed just because it felt like quite a bit of the playtime was just waiting for the character to arrive. Thanks for sharing your game!

Thanks. Just out of curiosity did it feel too slow even with the max speed toggle in the settings or are you just referring to default speed?

Submitted

Ah no I didn't notice that that was a setting, my bad!

All good. It's still good feedback to me for various reasons know all that.

I loved this game; it's a really good puzzle game. The main mechanics are classic, so they're very intuitive. The first time I saw something similar was in Pokémon Silver, but the addition of snowball barriers, along with the level design, gave you great freedom when choosing routes. I actually played the game before you updated it, and when I played it again, I noticed new mechanics and levels. I thought the snowman creator was a very adorable addition, as was the character design. The music was beautiful and relaxing.

Thank you.  Funny enough, those games where a huge inspiration for the concept of this game. I'm sure there's been plenty of games since then that approach ice sliding for puzzles in that sort of way, but my mind always comes back to the puzzles from a lot of those retro handheld RPGs like Pokemon and Golden Sun.

The snow mechanic started as my attempt to adding a twist to the formula. Even more so, when I realized how well it worked with the bonus limitations of this game jam. There were definitely times I pondered if that was the right direction to go in, especially with how tricky the mechanic made puzzle design.  But comments like this are a huge assurance that it was worth it, even if with the concern of it making certain puzzles too easy to cheese.

Very cool! I like being able to place the snowballs from anywhere. Sit at start and plan the whole route. The colliders got a bit wonky at times. Maybe locking the snowballs to the grid would help mitigate that.

Great first jam! Keep it up!

Developer

Thanks.

That might be something I'll have to look into once the jam is over.  As the snow collider was pretty much the only issue I was worried might end up being problematic but I couldn't think of a good solution for in time.  I don't want to get too sidetracked from my main development projects. But certainly something I'd be willing to research if I ever expand on this idea after the jam.

That being really true the game is still very playable and enjoyable but that is a fault to be fixed.

Super fun puzzle game! Really great for a first game jam. You got a lot done in a shor tamount of time. There's so many puzzles, but they all feel like they have something unique going on. Great work!

The audio and scenery really helps to sell a chill atmosphere to try and solve puzzles to. Made for a super relaxing gameplay experience just trying to reuinite some friends. I really like how the puzzles don't feel too punishing for making a mistake, and even let you keep your collectibles. But there's also room to "tryhard" with the minimizing snowball usage aspect. Super cool!

Love the snowman building game as well! (I'm a little biased, haha.)

Great work on this!

Thank you.

Between the theme being "comfy winter" and one of the optional restrictions being "mistakes making the game easier" I really wanted being forgiving to be a major focus of how I developed the game. So I'm glad that came through in execution.

Also, nice snowman.

It's a great game, and using a specific number of snowballs to pass is a great idea; it's like a fun minigame to pass the time.

So cool! Such variety in such a small amount of time is impressive, and it also very cute and cozy. And in Godot (which is always a nice little bonus)

Very fun puzzle game! I'm impressed by the amount of levels and variety and different mechanics you managed to add in such a short time! I appreciated that you could choose to glide faster as the base movement speed felt a bit slow. The only frustrating thing was that sometimes placing a snowball slightly too close to a narrow gap would stop you from passing through, but you provided a retry button so it wasn't too much of an issue. Overall, I really enjoyed it and liked the snowflake transition too, and the music feels very cozy, well done!

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I'm not shocked about the issues with the snowball precision. It was a concern that I had while playtesting, but I couldn't think up of an elegant solution at the time, especially within the time frame of the jam.  I'm glad it wasn't too problematic though. Especially since I was going to have the retry button in the game regardless.

Very cozy little game! I really liked the mechanics involved and had fun sliding! Cool for a first game!

Thanks.

Technically this isn't my first game. It is the first time I've developed a game for a game jam specifically, but I have done/currently working on a small handful of other projects in the past.

Still, it was a nice change of pace to actually come up, make and release something within the small time window and I doubt I would have ever made something like this if it wasn't for the sake of the game jam. So I'm glad I decided to take part in it.

Very cute puzzle game! I really enjoyed in the later levels when all the different mechanics tied together. Well done!

Really good, calm and soothing game Love how you incorporated transitions.

Ok, so I was actually really surprised by this game. There is SO MUCH to talk about! First of all, very nice transitions. I couldn’t believe it when I saw multiple game modes, and I love how collecting gifts in the main game unlocks elements in the snowman minigame. There are plenty of levels and each one feels unique, and new mechanics to discover along the way! Overall it feels like a very complete experience. Y’all should be really proud of what you’ve accomplished!

Thanks again for the very sweet comment.
