How does your game represent "Slick"?
There's a mechanic for slowing down time. It looks cool when the boss attacks you and with the particles flying in slowmo through the air.
The boss puzzle's solution is supposed to make the player say 'slick'.

This honestly had a real cool use of the slow time mechanic and executed it well with good challenges! It felt like playing dark souls at some moment aha an option to control camera with mouse or something would be dope but otherwise very cool man and i love the character model!
Thanks for the recommendation and checking out the VOD!

Ahh, give player option to move/rotate camera around (those are most free-high gain effects to give game motion).
This Q shader is very very good.
Movement is slow (to me gives feeling I have low/mid control of the character)
Transitions are slow/wooden (interpolations/tweens).
Interesting story -end of humanity
Thanks for playing. The mostly fiixed camera is a design choice, same as player speed. I only want to work on the execution.
wow. the slow time mechanic is awesome.!
it looks and feels great. would love to see a fully fleshed out version of this! I'd buy it.
playing as the clock only adds to the slickness.
5/5/5/5.
Thanks a lot!
I enjoyed the time-slow mechanics and the surreal atmosphere. The movement felt a bit clunky, but that was my only issue. Nice work!
Hey what engine did you use? i love the aesthetics, it reminds me of clive barker undying :)
Thank you. I used Godot but I'm sure you can achieve this look in any 3d engine.
I think the aesthetic you describe is the result of the texture compression I had to apply to the models (to keep file size down) and also that the level architecture (walls & ground) is really low poly and flat in my game.
for sure. it just felt like the default look of coppercube :)
This was a really cool idea! Using the boss against itself reminded me of a lot of Shadow of the Colossus, very slick!
Awesome little game, impressive art direction for a jam game! I think camera controls could've helped with the 3d platforming. Great job!
The game over messages bring me back to the Dark Souls 1 days, like the mod that replaced the You Died text with Thanks Obama.
I felt cool when I figured out that I had to dodge and walk on the sword in slowmo to collect the last soul
This game made me want to quit, because I suck at platforming, but the funny "Game over" texts made me continue
Then there was the boss fight, where I didn't know what to do, other than slow time and dodge until I eventually got hit because I'm stupid lol
Speaking of slowing time: I love this mechanic, this really made your game a whole lot more charming
Now I gotta go cry because I've tried hundreds of times, only to beat it on the first try tomorrow
Thanks for this experience :)
Thanks for playing and not giving up yet.
The platforming is really janky, I should adjust the cam and add a drop shadow or coyote time.
For the solution to the boss puzzle, I failed to communicate in the game that the player needs to touch that glowing thing in center of the arena. Everything else is left for you to figure out :)
Very cool ideas with the static camera and the surprising boss fight mechanic. This game had some frustrating parts with the platforming specifically, but overall it's a cool project! I can see the love
This was an ambitious project for a game jam! Climbing on the sword in slow motion is definitely slick, although it took me a while to figure out how to do it.
The Q is absolutely slick. Awesome core mechanic! And that sword model is sick as hellll
Thanks! The sword is an asset I imported tho.
I really need to read the game pages first lol. I spend 5 solid minutes turning the boss battlefield into a game of the hexagon drop from Fall Guys, I had at least 30+ sword strikes into the brick. It was a good laugh when I saw I could just grab the soul and win. Great character walk animation their limbs have the perfect thickness!
Thank you. I should communicate the win condition better.
The vibes were awesome, I got sliced in half
So slick! It took me a second to realize I needed to walk on the sword after it comes down. I really like the mood, very dark souls
Cool time effect!
but I couldn't figure out how to get to the center of the sword boss even after trying to jump on top of it in slow mo time
Thanks! I slow down the engine time scale and speed up the player basically.
If the slowmo time runs out too early, that is either a bug (another player mentioned problems) or you might need to start the slow mo time a bit later.
pretty short but what I played made me feel very smart
I like the music and the visual style! Time slowing down is also an interesting idea
My biggest complaint is the lack of a drop shadow, it would do wonders. Other than that I really like this mechanic and would enjoy seeing it explored and pushed a bit further.
