An absolutely excellent example of the sliding puzzle genre. the art and animations are subtle, but they really add. Great work

As someone who also did something akin to sliding puzzles, I enjoyed this a ton! x] Neat work on the sound effects and the music! The mechanic of going into a cave gave me a "Doctor Who Tardis" moment xD. Very charming game!

I will say, I was honestly wondering if you'd make a puzzle about intentionally going into a walrus projectile and spent a bunch of time looking at every stage if it would happen xD.

This was our plan!!! It was going to be the last a-ha moment, but we actually ran out of time to do it elegantly, thanks for playing and I'm glad you engaged with it enough to be curious about the mechanics.

Yaaaaayyyy !!! I love sliding puzzles and this is so cute and polished !! Brings me much joy !! Happy happy happy ^-^

Fantastic audio in this one! The music and SFX are both great and well-mixed.

Nice! A good number of levels and the collectibles are a nice bonus for the people (such as myself) that are interested in a bit of extra puzzle solving. Music is chill and the leaderboard is cool too!

I loved this! So fun. Loved the movement in all of your artwork. The sfx and music are great as well. Loved the fish challenges too.

Level design is really tight. I enjoyed the difference in challenge between fish vs flags, and how satisfyingly things ramped up from level to level. Nice work!

Very Slick! Game-feel, music and sprites are all very comfy, enjoyed this a lot!

Is there a best music award? If so they deserve it 100%!

Also, the gameplay was really good, surprisingly it didn't feel repetitive at all, I think it was due to the really good level generation.

Reminds me a lot of a minigame from Club Penguin called Thin Ice (I miss Club Penguin 😥). I beat the game and got every fish except for one near the end.

Love the puzzles, art, penguins, and it fits the theme really well. Well done! 🐧

Reminds me of chips challenge and the pokemon ice sections! Very epic!

THIS is the blueprint for how to do a game jam - simple but fun concept executed really well with loads of levels, fantastic visuals, tight controls, and really well thought out level design. What an excellent sound selection for the music as well - the whole score sounds like its playing through ice crystals but without being too high end-y

This is super high praise, thank you!

Pretty sick sliding! Loved being a penguin and getting the fish! Fun idea!

Submitted(+2)

how did we get such a similar idea?!

Developer

Did you grow up playing pokemon gold/silver too?

Submitted

nah, i prefer OG legend of zelda, and it was the other team member della, who got the idea, we had a chuckle when we saw this submission

The Game "Ice Splice" also has the same mechanic, so it's at least three games in this one jam lol

i loved the art, and the puzzles are great, i am a bit smooth brained, but that is ok, i had fun.

Well designed - great job taking ice sliding puzzles that everyone is familiar with, and then pushing the medium to its potential with creative and challenging puzzles.

I love the 16-bit pixel artstyle. Reminds of old JRPG games. The sliding action is pretty well designed. If the core loop controls are done right, the game ends up feeling right! To add to it, the puzzle sequences are also well designed! Kudos!

Do make sure to play and rate our game as well (it might take a minute for it to load)

Wonderful puzzles! Gives me a classic Pokemon ice puzzle vibe but more fleshed out!

Submitted(+1)

One of the few games I actually invested the time in to complete, really well designed puzzles. Great art style as well, really cute :D

Developer

This is actually a huge compliment.  Game Jam fatigue is real!  Thanks for playing it through dude!

Wow that was great fun and great polish! Felt like I was back in time playing Pokémon Heart Gold and sliding around the caverns all over again, the fish added a REAL challenge and I was only able to snag a few, I can't imagine how much work it was to make all the puzzles!

I think under 10 mins was a decent time!

Always gotta give a shoutout when someone mentions the mechanic in ref to Pokemon.  That was exactly the inspiration.
