How does your game represent "Slick"?
The player character and the boss both move in a very smooth and almost slippery manner, the game also features some surprising moments when (for example) the boss starts using some cool new attacks.

Excellent.  Give me more, you turned this up to 11.  It's a tried and true style of game and you just cranked it up.

You really nailed the sound, weight and rhythm  of the attacks, and the game feel was fantastic.

Nice work :)

Loved this game! Super simple graphics but still really polished. Clean gameplay too. Loved how the boss had more phases than a Fromsoft boss

sir this is a game jam! not E3, jokes aside love the whole game, can't believe almost got that on the first try and it felt really slick the whole time, and btw I've made also a boss-rush game not this slick tho

if you have time, would be slick to rate my game too, if you haven't already.

Glad you enjoyed the game, your game was also very slick with the slicing though.

Won with one health remaining, really well tuned encounter. I liked the status on the boss too, **spoilers** desperation phase felt very thrilling to hit after I thought I had won. I also really like the print/paper art direction, very cool.

Amazing presentation and fun!
Would be even better if there was some clarity as to if the players dealing damage/hitting the boss, it can be hard to see where im aiming with the boss attacks

Developer

Thanks for playing! I do agree that some more feedback and possibly a different, more clear, cursor would have benefitted the experience.

This game has such a cool presentation. It was really difficult but super exciting. The names for the different phases were really cool also. I had a lot of fun with this game

Developer(+1)

Yes, I was brainstorming for a little while to make the names as edgy as possible.

HELL YEAH THAT WAS CLEAN AND CRISP LOVED THE PHASES HELL YEAH

Controls feels SLICK!!! Just moving around, dashing, and shooting all feel incredible. You did a great job at mastering the basics that make a game run.

absolutely clean and fun game all around. beat it on my second try, and enjoyed the scaling excitement as u played the whole time. 10/10!

Super cool looking, super challenging. I really enjoyed this. If I had any gripe, it would be more feedback on hitting the boss, at least near the end stage. I had to keep peering down to see if I was actually making any progress with my damage.

Developer

Yes the boss flashing a little bit or something when he gets hits would have been pretty sweet, I purposely made the bosses health a little bit vague so that player wouldn't think they already defeated the boss when they wait for the music to switch to the next part.

I love bullet hells, this was good af. Good work

Omg this game was sick. The music, the minimalist art style, the enemy patterns, everything rocked. This was a super exciting game. Let me tell you, when the music kicked in and the first burst attack appeared, I LOCKED IN and was glued to my screen the whole time. Really well done!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed!

I never saw anyone being both Elegant and minimalistic, yet CHAOTIC like this game! Great job :)

Do make sure to play and rate our game as well (it might take a minute for it to load)

The style is incredible !

I really enjoyed this game! As a fan of bullet hells, the movement and controls were very slick and responsive.

  • + I liked the simplicity of the designs
  • + Boss patterns were really cool and I liked the evolution
  • - recovery phase took a little too long
  • - the chromatic aberration got very distracting, it might be worth trying something different with the CMYK theme as the idea of the art direction was cool but not migraine friendly
Developer

I do agree that a skip button for the recharging phase would have been nice. The effects were not actually chromatic abbreviation but copies of the player and boss layered behind them but they could sill be hard to look at for longer periods of time, an option to reduce them would have probably been a nice addition.

Sliiiiiiick!

Such good boss design! Reminds me of original-Newgrounds era flash games.

Controls felt good, and the boss patterns were tough, but fair. Adaptive audio was slick as well.

Thanks for making this!

Thanks for playing, the inspiration was not quite from there but from Terraria and a certain game published by Bigmode.
