How does your game represent "Slick"?
“Slick” in my game is expressed through smooth, uninterrupted motion. Precise placement allows the domino sequences to unfold cleanly, creating a sense of flow.

The first Domino-like game! Very clean presentation and solid mechanics that make sense. Well done! :3

There is a mind boggling amount of polish on this! Really impressive!

The atmosphere really worked for me; the sounds on the dominos were very satisfying, the music was mysterious, and the visual presentation had a nice surreality. I found it on the easy side and would be interested in a continued version with more complex puzzles. Good stuff!

Thank you! I'm really happy you saw the vision and enjoyed it!

I felt like I was in a French indie film with the music and scene transitions! The domino falling is very satisfying, and the minimalist design really lent well to the gameplay! I think it would be nice if there was some indication as to which domino would be falling first, but overall, very nice! Great work!

Thank you for your kind words and for playing! That's exactly how I draw inspiration for the art direction. I look for what makes something look good, on other media, and experiment with those techniques in my games.
As for the starting domino, many players have suggested me the same thing, so I'm pretty sure now, I had to do something about it. 😅

The game's physics, graphics, and audio design felt very refined and professional. Great job! :)

Thank you! I'm very glad you appreciated the extra effort I put into making it feel like a "real" game.

This was great, I'm actually pretty surprised that I've never really played a domino game before! The music sounds great and the game looks amazing. I think if you had more time to work on this and add some more interesting types of dominoes, that would be a puzzle game I'd love to play.

Developer

Heyy thank you for playing and for your kind words! Tbh I was surprised I couldn't find a similar game while I researching. I had trust my memory as a kid, when I was doing that with real dominos, that the game would turn out enjoyable. I'm really happy you enjoyed it!

Ha, came to test it for you on Firefox: works perfect. Ended up sticking around playing. I started and thought "what has this go to do with slick?" and by the end I was like "Man, that was slick". I love the Eric Satie motif, and sound design. Perfect!

Developer

Seems like the  Firefox community is still going strong. Can't thank you enough for testing it out, and I'm very happy that you interpreted the theme just like I intended.

I had to download firefox for this one and I'd say it was worth it. The physics and the art  were very polished. Some bugs with the right click for rotating not always working but that's a minor complaint. I think there was a lot of missed potential here though. If there were different coloured dominos that did different things that would have made the game more complex and enjoyable. Most of the levels didn't require much thought but instead precision. That was annoying because sometimes I felt like the camera angle was working against me. I assume if you had a couple more days of time the game could have been really great. Maybe you could keep working on this.

Duude thank you so much for putting the effort even to play it. I'm taking notes about everything you mentioned, and based on the reception from this jam, I might actually commit into a fully fledged game. Thank you again for playing!

Ooo! I really like this one! The moment where everything falls does feel really satisfying and the placement worked great! The one suggestion I could make is to have the piece that falls be a slightly different color then the rest. Most levels I could deduce which one it was but a few levels I was a bit confused.

Developer

Hey I'm really glad you liked it!

Actually I noticed that when I let my friend try a random level. I guessed that he maybe lacked context because he didn't play the "tutorial" levels. So I gambled it and didn't put more colours on, to not "overload" the scene and encourage the player to try the "Start" button. Seems like I guessed wrong, so I'm happy you pointed out!

I liked the presentation of the game. It has polished look.

I really had  to stop and think at some levels :)

Thank you for playing my game! I hope the challenge was fun :D

Unfortunately this game wouldn’t run in-browser for me – not sure if it’s a ‘me’ issue or something else.

I’ll check back later and try again if I can figure it out, it looks really interesting!

Developer

Oh no... As I see there is an issue with Chromium based browsers... It works fine on Firefox and Safari as I know. Thanks for letting me know!
