[Paid] [Art] [LFS] Looking for pixel art for a platformer

I am an experienced software engineer that has been working full time as an engineer for ~15 years. While this is my first game, I am not new to game or software development.

I am making a platformer and I am looking for help with art assets. I am doing a good chunk of the initial art myself but would like to pull a professional in. I have a large chunk of the design and assets/code worked out by myself and am eager to give detailed technical requirements when the time comes. While I am the primary developer / designer, I am hoping to give someone creative freedom so they can put their own design mark on the game as well.

The game is a 2d side scrolling platformer. I am going for an atmospheric Donkey Kong Country vibe (though without 3D rendered sprites) that has an accessible control scheme.  I don't want the game dark or brooding or otherwise souls like. Instead, I want it to be bright, cheerful and full of hope; even if that doesn't describe all the levels. The closest comparison for what I have in mind is mashing Donkey Kong Country atmosphere, with a Genesis Sonic game level backdrops/art (and Sonic 3 storytelling), mixed with some standard 2d Mario gameplay, and mashed with selected gameplay elements from Star Fox 64 (this one will make sense eventually). I want the experience to almost be ethereal; but not at all related to a dream and I want it to feel like a real environment. Besides the use of pixel art, this is not nostalgic driven and I hope to give the player a unique experience that stays with them. Its not necessarily a kids game

If any of this interests you, lets chat. I am looking for quality workmanship and am eager to keep someone who is a good fit busy. And if this turns into a success I don't plan on retiring.

Can you read my "looking for work" post please? It's got my portfolio and I ask for $20/hr, but here are some highlights from my portfolio.

I technically have "Dark Souls" mockups too 😅 but since that's not what you want I'm just not going to showcase it.

Hi! I would like to hear more about this project. I am a pixel artist with no so much experience but eager to learn a lot. If my work is not experienced enough, I can also support a main artist, if that is an option. Feel free to reach out in discord _scr_

Hey I think Id be interested in helping out with this project I have 12 years of experience doing pixel art and would be able to fit any theme you need and create any concepts youd like to see done. Id like to add you on discord and show you my work.

Hi, your project sounds really interesting and creative. I really like the atmospheric and hopeful direction you are planning for the game, especially the inspiration from Donkey Kong Country and Sonic style environments.

I'm a digital artist who specializes in character design and backgrounds, and I have experience creating expressive and detailed artwork suitable for games and storytelling projects. I’m very interested in collaborating and contributing creatively to game development projects.

I would love to discuss your art requirements and share my portfolio with you.

My commission rates are flexible and can be discussed based on project scope.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hey, I would love to help with the UI/UX for your game if you're interested. I work professionally as a UI/UX designer and developer in Unity. (Designing the art and building prefabs, UI animations, etc.) If you're interested I'd love to chat around anything I could help with polishing or helping solve UI problems, maybe for a flat rate.
