I really like the Splatoon-esque paint mechanics and having to navigate back through the slippery level with only the paint gun to move you! The game was definitely challenging by the end, but I had a lot of fun! Great job! :)
Pretty cool game, 4th level was hell though haha. I like the painting aspect!
Super satisfying gameplay loop, the idea of painting a map and then having to speed run with slick movement backwards is so cool! Very fun, good work!
the aesthetic of this was really fun, and loved the idea of having to play the level back with different mechanics. that was really cool! only thing was splatting the oil could get a little monotonous. well done :)
diddy blud
This is fantastic!
the art style alone made it super good and the gameplay was perfect!
I love any game that has this Splatoon esque mechanic. Great soundtrack! Very good!
Very fun! The two different types of gun add a nice little bit of variety and the difficulty was also just right for the most part. I did find the difficulty of the last part with the really tight walkways a bit too difficult though.
Nice little game and very cool paint gun. Good job!.
This is so well executed, great job. I love the way you introduced the enemy in a room where they can’t reach you.
Thanks a lot!!! I tried to copy the way enemies and hazards are introduced in Mario games. Glad that you appreciated that!
Very clever and cool concept! Music is a banger too! I like the slick slide back mechanic, makes the game feel completely different, since you dont really notice the slide too much on the first way through!
Thanks! The sliding is cheated in the first pass of each level, so you slide a bit less so things don't get too crazy while shooting :D Not realistic, but had to do something about it.
You really greased your elbows on this one; this is an awesome submission! Well made, tight and with a great amount of polish.
Appreciate the kind words, thanks!!!
hahah it took me a while to realise it wasn't Hank from Breaking Bad.
I agree with other commenters I liked the backtracking twist, cool idea!
For more variety in the design the enemies could try clean the room instead of chasing after you
Thanks! I have a function programmed for enemies to delete the oil, but it felt frustrating to me to delay painting progress of each room. But is definitely worth exploring. Appreciate the feedback!
Great art and music here! I felt that, after a while, spraying oil got a bit tedious, but I loved the backtracking mechanic once it was all oiled up. Overall, I think this game has a lot of potential! Nice job!
Thanks! I had though ways to make painting more rewarding, like finding resources hiding in the oil like more shotgun bullets or ink recharges...but it created a lot of moving along the ink and felt frustrating for me with all the sliding. But definitely is an area to explore and think further, several people commented about oiling being a bit tedious. I appreciate the feedback!
This game is a 2 for 1 deal! I enjoy that you actually have to backtrack the levels! super fun overall!
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
So far I've seen people making games about slipping on the oil. This might be the first one to go in another direction! And not just that, but it is well supported by an endearing game loop, too!! Kudos to you for such an original and creative thinking. ☺️
Do make sure to play and rate our game as well (it might take a minute for it to load)
Thanks a lot for the kind words! I super appreciate them. I will indeed pass by your game and check.
Thank you!
First covering the floor was satisfying but as I progressed in the game it got quite tedious. Having to traverse the level back by thrusting yourself with the guns was the peak for me. It makes me think that maybe the whole game should have worked like that. It could make for interesting scenarios where you have to shoot an enemy off the level but also be careful that you don't propel yourself off. The game was very polished though and I appreciate that I didn't have to paint every single pixel for the floor to be counted as covered.
Very fair point. I did think several times about simplifying and keep just the "pushing through oil part", since it felt the more fun for me. But felt that it was less original to have just that. Painting for me feel nice and satisfying, but sliding while painting felt a bit too annoying and punishing...but the game was about sliding so I was fucked and decided to keep everything :D
Thanks for the feedback! It's reassuring to see people having similar thoughts I had.
I really liked having to slide your way back after clearing the levels, some of those later levels can get pretty challenging though having to maneuver around those thinner floors. Good job though, it was a fun time
Thanks a lot! It's true that the difficulty spike in Level 4 is way too strong. Thanks for the feedback!
Solid mechanics, fun to play, looks good. Great stuff!
Thanks!
