You were able to create the space well with visuals in frame and the sound effects! The loop took a bit of getting used to, especially with the toss bar needing to be hit twice. The arrows were on theme, but a little hard for me to read at first π . You nailed the pacing though, since I got the hang of it on round 5 and was ready to play again! Good stuff!

How does your game represent "Slick"?
Hibachi chefs are pretty slick!

Such a tight and well realised experience! Loved the expressions of the customer. I swear one time I beamed the shrimp into his forehead, and he was briefly huffy, then he caught the perfectly cooked shrimp in his mouth and was ecstatic. I don't know if I was huffing shrimp fumes, but if that is a real feature, that is a fantastic detail. I had a blast with this, and I would totally play more cooking-type minigames in this style if you guys choose to extend it. Great work! As Ken Tanaka myself, I can tell you that Tanaka-San is proud of this game.

(actually I saw that a commenter below had 22k so I'm gonna have to get back on the grill)
OMG AINT NO WAY YOU HIT THE SHRIMP REBOUND?! omg thats one of our favorite little things to try and get when test playing, its so exciting to see and I'm glad you got to experience it!
Also +19k, thats a solid score! You've defintely earned your place on our board of champions. Though if you aim for 22k u may get our top spot! β¨οΈπβ¨οΈ
ong your comment has us over the moon, Thank you so much!! If we ever add to it you'll be the first to know. In the meantime, looking forward to seeing you dominate the board, and thanks again for playing!! ππ
15.7k lets goo!!! Gotta check but I think you just slid your way into our the board of champions β¨οΈππ, but it sounds like your skill have developed quickly beyond a shrimple novice, I bet you got what it takes to master that grill!! Definitely update us if you beat your current score, and thank you so much for playing!!πβ¨οΈ
Felt like this would fit in perfectly for a WarioWare game. Such slick controls cooking and flinging the shrimp. Awesome job! :)
omg this comment has the team on cloud nine right now. Warioware was a HUGE inspiration for us while deciding on game flow and aesthetics. Our programmer really put in the elbow grease to butter up that grill, so we're happy to hear your experience with it was slick! ππThank you so much for your comment and thank you for playing our game!! ππ
If there is a market for "professional shrimp burner" I think I have found my calling. I love the concept and the art is excellent. I'm just terrible at cooking shrimp.
This is pretty neat actually! A full game where you also need to manage the store (something like Dave the Diver but more of a manager?) could be γγ£γγγ! I do wish that the entire game was done in the 2D style used for the menu though, I thought the 3D and more generic anime character held it back.
γγγγ¨γ ComiCross san!
Managing the store is a gold idea to extend the game! Set hours, attract customers, order food, set prices,. I'll have to try Dave the Diver sometime.
I'm a huge fan of 2D games and grew up on SNES so my nostalgia always pushes me this direction as well, but our coder, Dreamcastic, grew up on 3D games PS1 era so we thought a 2.5D Paper Mario style was a fair compromise. Our artist, Rumi, spent the most time on our solo customer, Chris Chan and his 6 different expressions, and we were quite impressed with their work. Once you get to really know Chris Chan you'll find he's more than meets the eye ;) (and quite the charmer)
An ideal game jam game. A neat, tightly wrapped experience that executed on it's vision well. I played several rounds and got a high score of over 22000. Tons of fun and lots of replayability. Great job!!
Cool and well put together game! The audio was really nice and fitting.
Nice soundtrack and art, and the sound effects really add to it, pretty slick.
Unique idea! I really liked the idea and the vfx were spot on!
Very nice hibachi-like game! Best (and only) one Iβve seen!
Wish it was slicker? Ya know? But it is a solid pick!
This is slick!! The mechanics felt like they come from skate games (combos, bail risk/reward, landing) so hibachi was a really fun aesthetic choice. I had a little trouble intuiting what I was supposed to do, but it made sense once I read the description and I started hibaching like a pro.
Really enjoy this one. Soundtrack is slick. Combos are slick. I need to get better at it so I can get a slick rating.
This game has a very addictive risk/reward tradeoff, I could never put the shrimp down until it was too late :'(
Loved the mood and the soundtrack. Simple but good gameplay. But honestly pretty hard. I burnt all the shrimp at one point and got 0 points in the end, that pretty harsh. :D maybe i am just a bad Hibachi chef
Very original and polished gameplay and art style. Love the music as well. I found though that you can kind of get away with spamming all of the arrows to cook. Great job :)
I like the art design and the sound effects very funny :) the 5-6 button combos tough to get but feel rewarding.
