This is literally the reason I'm in the jam in the first place, lol. Saw this book randomly on itch.io, thought it was really cool, decided to look further into what was behind it. Love the vibes and the new campaign resources (Fugu, boat rules).
I love the monster art! I like the boat race idea and how you did the mechanics. Your NPC Pricky is funny. She, Most Deep is a great bbeg. This looks like a fun little adventure!
Very, very interesting take on getting a boat racing game. I had Boat Duel as a kid and played it so much so Im glad someone got it as an inspiration pull! You made great use of it. I think with a little bit of editing and formatting of the type would help it out. Good work!
I loved this. Great vibes and art direction, great writing. I could see this being a little bit less straight-to-the-table and need a bit more prep, but I'm personally very ok with that, as the setting is evocative enough to merit that extra time. Top tier
The first thing I thought of was how the location reminds me of the Caves of Diros in Greece- overall great vibes. Really love the variable 2d8 table to roll on for encounters as you progress. The map being a pixel sprite is a nice touch but it feels like it could become a linear slog.
Great work (and under 16 pages too!)
I love the dark graphics and hand-drawn aesthetics, very Shadowdark. The town of Undertow, the Cave, and the Fugu-folk have great character. This has awesome vibes!
It took me a little while to figure out how the 2d8 exploration/encounter table works. For enemy encounters, you have provided cool monsters, but does the GM decide which ones, how many, and whether to include those or other Shadowdark creatures every time? The Hazards seem more manageable for a GM to improvise.
I have to agree with folks that "She, Most Deep" is an excellent, ominous name. Good work!
Might be my favourite will-o-wisp illustration of all time!
Really liked the premise and fugu stuff, bit disappointed when it was up to the GM to stock the dungeon. I think if you get a chance to expand and revise it I'd love to see a fleshed out caves dungeon for the party to race through!
Great premise for an adventure. A race is such a good way to add stakes that are baked into the adventure itself. I love the hand drawn art and its cool how it still blends with the other art used. Great vibes and easy to follow. She, Most Deep is maybe the most effectively ominous name I've heard thus far. Great work!
I really like the effort to put hand-drawn creatures; it makes it feel very much like an adventurer roughly draw them and I rather enjoyed reading this adventure.
Cool adventure. I love the hand-drawn-looking character art, and the shape of the map!
thanks so much for reading! I did draw the creatures, a detail I usually avoid as I’m not that confident in it.
