well made platformer, i really like art direction here
and intro lookin so good

The title screen transition into the game was super clean, and I like how simple the UI felt. The checkpoints were appreciated too, definitely needed in a platformer like this.

The pixel art looks good across the board. Enemies and hazards are easy to read, and those little plant guys popping up were a nice addition. The gravity flip section caught me off guard in the best way. That's where it really started to feel unique. The main character has a lot of charm too, which makes the tougher sections feel less punishing somehow.

Platformers are hard to tune, especially in a short time frame. For a first platformer, this is pretty impressive. This is still a strong entry with cool ideas and good presentation. You've definitely got something here, would love to see you keep building on it.

The art is pretty solid, and it’s great that the platformer has multiple playable checkpoints. The upside-down mechanic is a really cool idea as well.

Regarding the difficulty, I think I understand why some people mentioned it feeling frustrating. For example, the wall jump sometimes feels inconsistent. It seems like the player can wall jump as long as they are colliding with a wall while airborne and press jump, which can lead to accidental wall jumps or jumps in the wrong direction. One possible improvement could be requiring the player to face the wall before allowing the wall jump, so it feels more intentional.

There were also several moments where I got hit by offscreen enemies or projectiles, or fell off unseen cliffs. This might be improved by slightly panning the camera out more or giving the player better visibility of what’s ahead. It’s important that players can at least see hints of upcoming hazards to avoid feeling unfairly punished.

The checkpoints feel fine, and I don’t think simply adding more would solve the issue. The main challenge seems to come from the controls and camera. Right now, the difficulty sometimes feels more like memorizing patterns and timing rather than reacting with skill. In platformers, giving players enough space and visibility to react makes a big difference.

As an extra idea, you could consider allowing the player to temporarily pan the camera to preview what’s ahead before moving forward.

Overall, the core ideas are strong. With some refinement to the wall jump behavior and camera design, it could feel much more polished. I understand this is your first platformer, and you’ve done a solid job. Congrats on completing your first platform project!

Hey, thanks for the detailed feedback! Really appreciate it! I had come to realise about the camera in the same regard, I guess in development I failed to consider the possibility that players won't know what's coming or be patient enough at every ledge to check upcoming entities since when I playtested I was being cautious at the right points but I already knew what's coming. I will definitely consider this as a big factor for upcoming projects.

A little frustrating at times. I think you could make some hitboxes smaller. Fits the theme!

It's a fun platformer! Art and music are great. But the camera definitely needs to zoom out more, or maybe use some forward bias. I didn't manage to get past the upside-down section. Still fun though. Nice work!

Also, if you run to the edge and jump, it sometimes triggers a wall jump instead.

Its nice, but bit too difficult and feels unfair. I think putting in more checkpoints and slightly more snappier controls will do

Developer

Thanks! Yeah I really didn't want the game to be this hard, I definitely miscalculated the difficulty curve, I will consider these changes if I ever update this game.

I like the concept overall! The camera definitely needs to be zoomed out a bit, at least in certain parts. Jumping to a platform blindly is one thing, but to one with a monster moving on it is reallly frustrating, especially when you have to time your jump from that to another platform like that. I also do really like the idea of adding layers of music with each checkpoint, but if you get stuck on one checkpoint you end up hearing a lot of the same little bit (aI think more could probably be added in each checkpoint). Not bad though, interesting idea. Nice job!

Developer

Hey thanks for the comment! Yeah I will definitely consider these points for next time, this was my first time making a platformer so I probably undershot some aspects.

I was about to quit after few checkpoints - with opinion average platformer with hard and frustrating walljump, but sudenly everything flips upside down (pun intended) - game sudenly becomes awesome skill test with unique mechanics and pretty well scaled difficulty and I pushed on and on and it was awesome until I've got to this checkpoint. And I just couldn't get over it. Anyway - super awesome platformer I enjoyed a lot! (but almost quit before found out its best feature)

Edit: Forgot to mention absolute briliance in introducing layers of music on each checkpoint!

Hey thank you for your comment! Yeah I realised I accidentally made the game too difficult and I honestly did not plan for that 😭 I didn't have any of my friends playtest it during development and it's my first platformer project so I didn't realise until I published that some of the sections I thought was fine was actually ridiculously hard. I don't blame you but if you ever play further the next area I personally find very fun. Still, thanks again for playing though!

cool game but the wall jump is very buggy

Developer

thanks! yeah I definitely could  improve that, I minimised the issue as much as I could as it was worse before. That's why I didn't incorporate many wall jump areas
