This game is so stressful and i LOVE it! So far this is the first game in this entire jam where I have actually felt quiet threatened by the countdown. Having to juggle all tasks within the limited time was pretty challenging and had me running all over the place but everything was balanced enough for the player to be able to do all tasks realistically within the time limit.

Only in the start it took me a while to understand what i was actually supposed to do so I think the game would appreciate a tutorial screen. Also the map is a bit confusing at first glance and would appreciate a player marker on it.

Other than that, the art is pretty good all over and I love how the music reacts when you are running out of time on certain tasks. Game balance is also pretty spot on.

Overall this is a really solid game, I love it :)

It's a really simple concept but the execution and gameplay makes it very fun to play. The levels were nicely polished. I also like the artwork and music. Nice game!

P.S I really love the star animation how it persistently stays throughout the game and moves between levels :p

Pretty simple but fun little game! The artstyle is very cute and cozy

Pretty cool concept for the game. I would just suggest changing the stop time button because it's hard to press space and move at the same time. Also the box is pretty hard to move, I almost got stuck in level 3 because the box was stuck against the wall

Hearing that intro VA killed me bro lmaooo 😭 the voice acting is so good

the art and audio were super nice but unfortunately i suck at managing time cuz i kept running out of time and didn't really know where to go :')

Hey there! First of all I wanna thank you for the really detailed comment. Appreciate it.

For the levels, we had much more ideas but we unfortunately came short of time to implement all of them. Spikes and boxes were the only two things we were able to add out of all the ideas. And in the short time, we came with the best permutation of spike pattern we could think of that was challenging. We tried longer countdown but noticed the player is able to just walk right through. Was there a better permutation? Probably, but we sucked the math to think that through in such short time :')

Keeping the level paused and not starting countdowns until the player moves is an interesting idea that we never thought of. I would definitely consider that for the future, thanks!

The music is a good point that we considered as well. We knew it would be better if somehow the music was persistent between levels and continued to match the countdown bpm even when the level changed but unfortunately, we had no idea how to do it. Even right now, when the music restarts each level, halfway through the song, the music desyncs with the countdowns and we honestly don't know why. We definitely need to look into that aspect of how to match the gameplay frames to a song.

Overall, I think we just really mismanaged our time but we came up with the best we could in the limited time. Thanks again for your detail analysis, we will definitely consider some of your points for the future.

By the way, as for your point about top down 4 directional movement, the other dev working on this game has already made a game like that. If you're interested, you can check out his game, Cellwalker :p

Yeah actually, we planned to make the countdown shorter and consequently make the levels more challenging. Unfortunately, that meant additional assets and we  simply ran out of time and decided to settle for 3-beat levels only. Still, thanks for the comment!

Hey, thanks for the comment! Btw, when you mentioned "felt on beat and caught late", are you trying to make your inputs on the movement beat itself? If you are, the game doesn't have a rhythm gameplay where you must move on the correct beat (like Crypt of Necrodancer), instead you can press your input anytime but the move will only be executed when the countdown finishes. You are not penalised for making an input early, only for no inputs given.

Hey, thanks for the detailed feedback! Really appreciate it! I had come to realise about the camera in the same regard, I guess in development I failed to consider the possibility that players won't know what's coming or be patient enough at every ledge to check upcoming entities since when I playtested I was being cautious at the right points but I already knew what's coming. I will definitely consider this as a big factor for upcoming projects.

I really liked the artstyle and the gameplay is solid. P.S, the title drew me to the game ;)

Dude I really loved this game. I loved the artstyle, it was so cute and well drawn. Combat and gameplay all feels solid. This game is a 10/10 from me

Would appreciate feedback on this! /jam/brackeys-15/rate/431338

Really well polished game! The strange places were nice

Please add a camera control. Controls need a little improvement but otherwise, it was a fun game. I really enjoyed the references you added, they were funny. But also at the end, I did not know where to return to.

Really fun, cozy and well made game! I wish there was a bit of tutorial in the start because I was confused at first but after I learned what to do, it was pretty easy to play. I love the visuals and audio. Very nice job!

A fine prototype I would say. And there are no glitches so I'd say that's a win in my book

It's my first platformer so I accidentally went little overboard on the difficulty scale but I still hope you try and give feedback! /jam/brackeys-15/rate/431338

I love the artstyle and music, creates a nice atmosphere. Controls feel great but the levels got way too challenging for me real quick 😅

Dude I LOVE the artstyle, reminds me of Undertale. Game was short but I loved what I got to play. Great ending btw

Even though it's incomplete, I like the idea you went for! Would definitely be interested in trying an actual build

Thanks! Yeah I really didn't want the game to be this hard, I definitely miscalculated the difficulty curve, I will consider these changes if I ever update this game.

Hey thanks for the comment! Yeah I will definitely consider these points for next time, this was my first time making a platformer so I probably undershot some aspects.

Hey thank you for your comment! Yeah I realised I accidentally made the game too difficult and I honestly did not plan for that 😭 I didn't have any of my friends playtest it during development and it's my first platformer project so I didn't realise until I published that some of the sections I thought was fine was actually ridiculously hard. I don't blame you but if you ever play further the next area I personally find very fun. Still, thanks again for playing though!

thanks! yeah I definitely could  improve that, I minimised the issue as much as I could as it was worse before. That's why I didn't incorporate many wall jump areas

Cool concept. With some polishing it can be a good game. Nice pixel art though.

Very cool game, totally not biased
