The artstyle and theme for this game is really great! I like the idea of this version of Papers, Please where the people you check get on a bus and stay with you for longer stretches of the game. The UI was very interesting and I like the approach of making it look like it's really on paper. Additionally, the setting and creatures were very cool to see. Unfortunately, I feel the game does not have enough internal consistency. These types of games should reward paying attention to little details. For example, I thought I was clever for noticing that one of the Longarms had "Longarm" on their ID instead of "Longarms", but then I noticed every other longarms also had that. Similarly, every Seat Demon I found had dialogue, even though the journal said they were silent. I think this is ultimately a matter of game jams not allowing for enough time to polish games but it still lead to a confusing gameplay experience. If you do a postjam update, I think these kinds of changes are what could make the gameplay very interesting and special!
Thank you for the compliments! Yes we didn't have enough time to give other variants of most of the monsters, you can especially tell when some still have placeholders. We do plan to make post-jam updates to the game and hope you'll be glad to see it!
It's so cool that you guys added voice acting! Feel like there's a lot of room for improving the game's readability though (I also struggle a lot with that @_@), overeall fun going trough the characters and the different areas!
we plan to look at adding more after the jam, so glad to know people like it! ^-^
Really liked the visuals and audio but it was much to read. A gameplay tutorial would improve the game a lot!
This was certainly an interesting game. I know it is supposed to be something like Papers Please, but I was never sure which monsters to kick off. I also found the interface a bit difficult to use. The tool tips wouldn't pop up unless I was looking at a specific spot on the character, also I was able to select a character that was behind another character which felt like the character you're looking at should be the only one you can select. I also thought the bus driving took too long which kinda dragged the game down a bit.
I like that you journeyed through several different biomes and the denizens were so varied- really harnessed the theme.
I don't know if the game was bugged, but I couldn't stop the humans from getting off so I ended up losing :(
To help prevent them from leaving the bus, you're supposed to use the checklist in the back of the notebook, we Have been having problems with said notebook though u.u
Pretty interesting game tbh, I was honestly really confused at the start, and I wish there was a tutorial that was more interactive, instead of having just a list of things to do. I liked the pixel art though, congrats!
Cool stuff. I like the 2d mixed with 3d.
great visuals and audio!
Game is funny, but me don't like that no normal tutorial, I don't understand how now change page
lil flippy guy in the bottom corners, journal has been very buggy, many pologies u.u
Sorry, I bad know English
Really cool idea, I think the journal might be quite buggy cuz I was able to turn the pages once, then not again. Maybe some kind of tutorial would be helpful as it didn't feel very straight forward. Very on theme, felt very strange!
I like the art style. also the characters are well designed.
I liked it
The art is AMAZING! i really loved the style and the gameplay was fun.
Enjoyment: I really got hooked early on. It felt like that spongebob scene where he is in monster town waiting for the bus. It had a really interesting atmosphere.
Gameplay: I sadly have to admit I did not well with the controls, nor did I really understand what I was supposed to do I could open up the journal but was not able to turn the pages. I just denied access to people who had red drawings. I feel like i should look for mismatching information, however, I got no feed back wheter I have done it right or not, so I am kinda lost how I did.
Innovation: Best aspect of the game. The monsters were so creative. really well done makes me want to learn more about them and their feats.
Theme: Its a bummer its just 9 stops. Making this underworld tour is already giving off this strange place vibe with the assets you are using right now. I would love to see more
Visuals: Very unique looking monsters and very fitting desolate and dark landscape, was fun to look at.
Audio: Could have used more sound cues, you have those indivual monsters and stages I felt this came a bit short.
Yes, the rock bottom episode from Spongebob was one of our main inspirations. We're glad that others have picked up on that.
And yeah, we would've loved to add more areas and polish the game more, but of course, time constraints.
Great Visuals and nice atmosphere ! Congrats for a good presentation and voices acting !
This game gives That's not my Neighbour, and that's good. I really like those types of games. This is promising!
Yeah, we wanted to make a form of "papers please" type of game (i.e "That's not my Neighbour" & "No, I'm not a human") & I think we nailed that.
Yeah, I forgot about Papers, please, a really good game. You definitely nailed it!
