Excellent game, reminded me of classic LucasArts adventures! I’d really love to see a settings menu and a save/load system added

How does the game fit the theme?
The game takes place in a strange mansion in which the corridors and rooms keep shifting and changing. The residents also live in wildly different environments that match their personality
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
None (edit: actually I forgot, there are two shaders I got from online)
How many people worked on the game?5

The story felt really fleshed out. Honestly, it was so big it probably needed save points lol. I was impressed by the scope. It's a shame there isn't a full ending yet, but at least the core foundation is absolutely there. The character portraits were drawn well and I love the shifting mansion murder mystery premise.
One small issue: the sound completely cut out for me at some point. Not sure if that's just on my end, but figured I'd mention it in case other experienced it too.
Nice work though; good writing, great art, and an ambitious narrative for a jam.
Thank you! Yeah saves is the kind of thing I wanted to do but didn't get around to. The music issue is really annoying and noticeable, sorry about that.
All those issues are being addressed and a version with that and the ending will be updated when the voting period ends if you want to check that out!
Thanks again for playing
Oh, what a charming detective story! I liked the art a lot, each character had a lot of personality both visually and as a character. Kind of shame that ending is unavailable, but still that's a lot of work done in such a short time, impressive! Nice submission, good job!
Amazing story. Progressed all the way through until… ok, no spoilers here, until some place with 10 hints at least, I believe. I didn’t count, though. Captivating story. I wish there were a save game button: super cool art and super-strange place. The art is really great and the amount of content is impressive.
Thank you! A lot of what we wanted to do didn't get to be in the current version, but as we speak I'm working on finishing it and a save button is definitely one of the things I'll be adding! And also probably a way to fast-forward, for people who don't want to replay the entire thing at a slow pace but want to know the ending.
The graphics are very beautiful. The plot is well thought out. I especially liked the cat.
This narrative based game isn't normally my jam, but I was intruiged and looking at it from a developer pov too. Characters and art work is great as well as the general theme/story. The shifting map was perfect for this jam too! Kudos. The script really got me laughing as well... television privileges, not tasting ice cream... ha!
When I finish with the dialogue and say 'Bye' you could probably take the player back to the mansion screen automatically - at first I was looking everywhere for something to hover over and click, but it was just waiting for me to click the Back button.
Music was a great fit, but I wanted a few more sound effects I think too.
All in all a great jam entry though. Good job team!
Thank you for playing!
Yeah there actually are some things you can click on in the environment but they are very limited, I was thinking perhaps we should make it more obvious when that's the case, or maybe simply add more.
The sound effects are indeed lacking, you know, not enough time and all that but I'm gonna add them for the next version!
Thanks for the kind words
The art is actually incredible, I loved it! I got completely hooked, and the music fits the game perfectly. Really nice work, congrats! :)
the general game is nice, the art style is pretty unique, but theres a bug if you speak to germaine in the garden and show her something the game freezes. although i really enjoyed playing it.
As others have said, the character design is great and full of cute little details! My favorite is Mithra, I've never seen a clock-themed character using actual clock hands as eyes, it works so well <3
Overall it did feel like the scope was a bit too big for the jam, a smoother intro (some fading screens and setting shots) and an ending would have been nice. I don't know if cutting one or two characters would've given you the time to do that. The art is so good I understand maybe it felt too bad to give up on that.
Disregarding the things that didn't make it in before the deadline, I think the one area where the game is lacking would be the text display, in something so text-centric you'd expect to have the text appear gradually with sound effects playing to mimic the characters talking.
So yeah overall a great start that could blossom into an actual VN given some additional time and polish. It seemed like you guys had fun with this jam and you can feel it in the game :)
Thank you! I don't think it would have really changed that much to cut characters, the issue was mostly on the programming side, didn't have time to do a few things I wanted to due to some game-breaking bugs I got towards the end of the time limit.
Definitely wanted to do the text appearing gradually, but just couldn't get to it in time, it's too bad there's a lot of small things I couldn't get around to doing for the polish. Definitely will get the full and polished version after the jam with the ending
I don't enjoy dialogue based games but i like DETECTIVE GAMES. SO 10/10 5 STARS EVERYWHERE except for the innovation cause idk, it's a detective game with weird characters (except for Moira she chilling) but yeah innovation is getting 4 stars
didn't play it all cause I feel this will take an hour, but I will come back to it later frfr
SOLID WORK
Damn, writting and artstyle are top notch! Impressive you get so much stuff done in one week!
I love the story and the characters!
The game lagged a bit each time you leave a room (when the rooms are switching).
I would also love to just explore each room and then "continue" the day cycle by clicking a button in the mansion overview.
Also the game where a little bit overwhelming after the intro. I would recommend to give the player access to one room at first and then to two in the next cycle and so one, so the player can slowly open up the mansion.
Very impressive work!
Thank you! There is a "next cycle" button, it's the cat bed in the main room, though there isn't really indication about that, will definitely add a line of dialogue to make that clearer.
I didn't think about that, perhaps it could be an interesting idea to only open up more options over time. Will consider it
I love the art style and the concept of the changing rooms
The music stopped for me sometime through the playthrough
and then my game froze or got stuck somewhere where the dialogue just wouldn't go further and there was nothing I could do
But the game was quite fun and cool, kept me intrigued, would love to come back and look further for more clues and try to solve this
Good job!
Thank you! A few people mentioned the issue with the audio, I'll look into it.
Can you tell me where exactly the game froze for you? I think it might be that the dialogue line references itself and so loops infinitely
I'll definitely update it once the jam is over, I need to add the ending and there are quite a few bugs I need to address
Definite 5/5 for the art! The shifting rooms added a really cool touch to the game too
The game reminds me of Ace Attorney, in that you find evidence and then need to show it to the right character.
The character designs were phenomenal. It was great that each of the witches had multiple sprites. The writing was fun as well.
Some issues I had:
Music just stopped partway through.
The shifting room positions is good but sometimes you get stuck waiting for a character you need to talk to.
My game got stuck after showing Germaine a mushroom.
Such cosy art and music, it was a fun challenge navigating the shifting room mechanic and following along with the fun dialog!
The shifting rooms added a great touch that meshed very well with the story and were spot on with the theme. Excellent dialog and art, I really enjoyed playing this.
