I like the premise and it reminds me of games like the last guardian where you have to solve puzzles with a non-human companion. what I'd wish for was at least a little bit of audio feedback to communicate that certain actions have been taken and I think a wider field of view when riding the beasty would benefit the game. art direction wise I really like it, especially the beasty. there might be some really interesting dynamics you can develop for their journey
Ooh, the FOV is a really good idea. I'll try that. Thanks for the comment!
I like the idea of it, and the graphics are lovely, but the jumping navigation seems off with the sharp velocity changes (and it’s a shame since this game requires a little platforming unless I’m sequence breaking lol).
also 👇 Kanosis’ comment is true, the shields don’t disappear, but they get added to the shield count when clicked.
I like the big fella, and I like the puzzles, it’s such a shame audio doesn’t work in the jam build (are you planning on updating the build after the jam? I’d love to hear this game).
unfortunately I fell through the floor on level 2, I thought I was clever and found a secret area :c
I'm hoping to update it, yeah. So the feedback is much appreciated! Those all sound like good things for me to fix
A really cool game, shame to hear about the audio issues, as fun as this was that I played it all the way through I was slowly going insane playing in complete silence.
The level design was really nice, puzzles felt well thought out. Showing in the first level that he eats hay, then using it in the second level so he steps on a button and then again when you get the moveable hay stack. All great stuff.
I love the cow so much, just adding touches like him moving around on his own gives him so much personality.
I imagine there was a sound cue for collecting the blue tokens but I didn't realize they were anything until I finished the first level. I think either having them disappear on collection or maybe greyed out would be a good idea.
Nice work.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm very happy to hear somebody made it past the start of level 2!
The tokens do disappear when you collect them, but you have to click on them to do that. I should probably have made that clearer.
Oh, that's interesting. I did click on them and they showed up on my results screens as being collected but they did not disappear. Not sure what was happening then.
This lowkey inspired me. I also want to make a game that involves a ridable beast now. Was really missing the audio though.
Thanks so much! Let me know if you do make one, I'd love to play it!
I immediately started getting Avatar the last Airbender vibes and wanted to say YIPYIP to the cow. I was immediately excited when I saw a giant ridable highland cow/bull/gender neutral magnificent beast, and found it pretty fun as well! The audio didn't work when I was playing the game and I wasn't able to figure out why (checked my volume settings and made sure I wasn't muting anything. Overall I'm very glad you got this in before the deadline because it was a joy to play. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the kind words!
I was using the FMOD audio plugin, and it didn't work in the exported version. I wish I'd tested the export a bit earlier...
Wow, that's a big coo.
I managed to find 8 shields on the first level and I felt like I had scoured the map so they must be well hidden (in plain sight) - some audio/visual feedback on picking them up would be good, or even if they disappear once found so its more obvious what to do with them.
The cow having a mind of it's own is fun (and reminds me of The Last Guardian) although it got me stuck on the second level. I left them on the first button and went through the gate, then they walked off the button and I couldn't find a way back.
Overall, I had fun though - it's an interesting idea to have to find hidden objects and solve puzzles at the same time as babysitting a glaikit cow (affectionately).
Thank you for the kind feedback!
You're absolutely right about level 2. It hadn't occurred to me that you could get softlocked there. Thanks for playtesting!
