Ranked from 121 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
You land in a strange world, but it's not just the environment. You have to build a relationship to the Place itself, and it rewards you in strange, unexpected ways. You also meet unusual friends.

The strangeness is accentuated by unusual colours - like purple grass/trees and blue wood.

[Spoiler Alert]
As you rebirth, you discover there are multiple strange places, to match the theme being in 'plural'.
The story's about how it's like to be an 'outcast', feeling like you're an alien in a strange place which connects to the theme narratively.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Wrote all gameplay code. Drew all the wish icons.
Did majority of 3D models and lighting/post processing effects.
Except base models of: Bush, Flower, character models, VFX and UI sprites, which were modified to fit the game.
Music from Purple Cat. Sounds externally sourced.
External packages for boilerplate systems like Settings System, Save System, Inventory System, Grid System, were used.

Very cute, nice looking visuals. Nice take on an incremental style game! Agree with the comment below on being able to use keys for the tiles on the bottom :)

Developer (1 edit)

Heya for the files, the F1 ~ F5 keys trigger building. The 'C' key also triggers the ability. You can view the shortcut keys at the top right of most buttons! However on web those keys aren't available as F1 and F5 trigger help and refresh, so they only show up on the downloadable versions for now.

I think he was referring to wishes having no shortcut keys as the other common UI buttons have keys!

This is so cleverly made, i'm so impressed, kudos guys!

We love the base game and the gradual improvements!! This game is so polished, and unlike other incremental games, this game allows the player to progress fast in a satisfying way.  Music and SFXs are well developed, and they help support the game's general vibe and ambience. :3

1 QoL suggestion:  Add number keybinding for the bottom shop

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing! Glad to hear you love it - good idea for the shortcut keys to trigger wishes, they will be added!

I'll definitely continue to improve it after the jam so feel free to leave any other ideas/feedback that comes to mind :)

Edit: If you're talking about the building shop, actually the F1 ~ F5 keys are available on the downloadable versions - on web they trigger help page and refresh so they are omitted.

A really cool game. It would be better if they added something new from repeated playthroughs. This project has great potential.

I really liked the artstyle and lighting. The game was short and sweet

This took me back to the days of playing minecraft skyblock and hay day 🥲, really cool experience and well polished!

Submitted

Omg this is such a chill and cool game! Great job!

Submitted

Very nice and chill. I had a fun time!

Love this game so much.

i do like a classic incremental game

Really solid and polished game overall! Can definitely see a lot of room for further development for this. My only critique would be that the tutorial/dialogue text was really easy to miss once I got into the flow of the gameplay. Otherwise great job!

Developer

Agreed on the text! I intend to work on it more and release new content after the jam!

Any ideas on what you'd like to see, or additional feedback?

Wow! Incredibly polished, great visuals, lighting, audio and mechanics. I would love to play more levels but this is impressive for a week's worth of work! I really enjoyed playing this game - well done!

The ending messages hit me like my father used to (jkjk very good job<3)

Developer(+1)

HAHA That escalated quickly! And yes I definitely love writing personal messages

I play this longer than I expected! I really enjoyed the ambiance, color, animations... a lot of things! It was very relaxing after a tiring jam, but it lifted the spirits! Love the fresh take on farm/gathering like game. And the music is really really nice!

what a chill cozy incremental experience!! one of the endings was somehow disabled for me, did I miss something?

Developer

Hey there! Yes, the final option leads to a secret ending, which is disabled if you take too long - hovering over the button should show a tooltip that hints at it. It's usually not possible to get it on the first rebirth.

Very nice and cool you got to the end!

This is a very cool take on an incremental game, I liked going for all the endings !

Beautiful game with a short nice story behind it.  The alien is adorable and so are the whisps.  Gotta say the color theming is among my favorite kinds. The controls were a little confusing at first, I wasn't sure where I was building, but then I got the hang of it. Fun Time!

Developer(+1)

I'm happy to hear I picked the right colour scheme! I might have been lucky, as purple is my favourite colour XD

I will expand the game post-jam. I already have some ideas, possibly a research tree with an upgrade to display an indicator -> lets you see where the next tile spawns!

Thanks for the suggestion and glad you had a fun time!

It's insanely polished gem of game, I forgot what I was doing - coming back to reality that I'm in web browser and  was playing game jam game,  that made one person in 7 days, still blows me away.  Thank you for this game, from me, all stars and follow

Developer

Wow I am deeply honored T_T

I am super humbled to hear you liked it! I will be working on this game and pushing out an update after the jam ends, with new upgrades. I already have notes and have begun implementing feedback and a roadmap!

If you have any feedback, suggestions, things you want to see, please let me know!

Hi again YYZ! That's three great games I played from you so far! I really like the vibes in this one. It's nice and chill, playthroughs are short and sweet, and building out a world is certainly interesting enough! The only thing I'm missing from this that I personally enjoy in these types of chill incremental/number go up games, is seeing the numbers or things go a little bit crazy at the end, or getting some satisfaction from the world you built in some manner. I got all endings!

Some other notes I took:

My resources were still accumulating in the top right during upgrade selection even though the timer was paused.

I noticed and read the story at the start of the playthrough, but after the gameplay started I completely forgot to glance at the top of the screen again, although I did use the memory feature to read it afterwards.

I did not really end up using day/night cycle (left it on day), I couldn't really determine when it would be worthwhile to switch between the two.

The wisp system is cool, but, similarly, I couldn't really tell if they were really worth the investment, and it felt okay to do without.

I think that's all I got this time. Good luck with your game!

Edit: forgot to mention a bunch of the good things! Progression feels great, it's satisfying to play, it looks stunning, music is an excellent fit. Bravo.

Developer(+1)

OMG HEY!!! I did not realise I had tried your game :O GOOD JOB ON IT!!

Your ideas are reaaaaaally good, top notch suggestions. I plan to work on this game after the jam so these are invaluable!

  • I think a kind of 'world overview' camera shot of your land would capture the world you built, along with stats like "Tiles: 300, Resources Generated: 30k"
  • I plan to add meta upgrades, either Research or Planet mutators, which will eventually cause resource numbers to creep up.

addressing your awesome notes:

    1. Timer paused - Possibly this sounds like it was the slowdown from the Wish panel? Choosing wishes don't pause time but slow it down so resources can still accumulate. I do wonder if it looks too paused though.
    2. Hmm, I will think a bit more about how to make switching modes. I was hoping it could cater to a preference, like active vs idle playstyle. Needs a bit more thinking.
    3. Yeah I've seen playtesters who just collect everything manually and don't use wisps. I'm not sure why this is the case as I thought it was impossible to automate and go fully idle without wisps. Maybe adding the Loot Magnet upgrade made manual collection a viable strategy? hmm. Maybe there could be different Wisp Roles, aside from rarity.

Likewise, good luck with your game too! <3

Oh it might have been been a slowdown then, yes.

    Re: wisps
I think if your world grows bigger it will be necessary to use wisps. Especially if you're forced to create little resource hubs some distance from eachother, or spots where certain resources would accumulate faster. Because my strategy very quickly devolves into building everything as close/stacked as possible right now. If I need to be in more than one place, I would immediately know to build wisps.

I forgot to mention how, as per usual, I'm insanely impressed with your quality of work in 7 days, yet again!

Ok, this is not an acceptable levels of addictivity.. How do you stop playing this! What an amazing concept, and twist on the genre which I think is often not explored as uniquely in game jams.. Well done! I loved everything about it, the progression curve, the visuals, the music!
