What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All the code and assets were made from scratch during this jam!
The only asset I did not make is the spinning planet that is used in the background of the computer window. That comes from: https://deep-fold.itch.io/pixel-planet-generator

hope this comment isnt too vague but i LOVE the pixelated 2.5D visuals i am a SUCKER for 2.5D visuals!!!😭
Very pretty and good sound design. gj
The atmosphere in this is really cool. The sound design especially stood out to me and the visuals look great too. Nice work!
Thanks for submitting your game to the stream! If you wanted to look at the playthrough again in the future here's the VOD timestamped to your game
The visuals are really good. Together with VFX, they look professional. The ship is so cool. There’s room for improvement, though. I can’t tell what resources are just by looking at their visual appearance. I would also suggest making the battery and computer UI stand out a bit more from the environment so that they are easier to recognize as UI elements.
Regarding the gameplay, the atmosphere is cool and intriguing. What I would suggest here is to make the first steps clearer and easier. I had to travel quite far and spend 50% of the fuel to find the first pile of resources. It felt like quite a hard challenge at the start. As a player, I prefer to get into the gameplay quickly and quickly get some results and feedback. In the game focused on gathering resources, it always feels rewarding to get your first money and buy the first boosts. As for the challenge, you can always add it later on. You may make the player travel far to obtain rare resources, or when resources nearby are depleted. I hope this helps. Best of luck with the game, it looks very promising!
PS: I restarted the game now, and resources were quite close, so I was unlucky the first time.
Thank you for taking the time to give some feedback!
I completely agree with you on most of your takes. I was going into the UI design with the kind of "green glow, early computers" idea but I think I went too far into making everything dark and simple. At one point everything had labels and was much brighter and I moved away from that to make it a bit more atmospheric and looking back, I probably need to find a middle ground.
The resources spawning was the last thing I wanted to polish up before submitting and then I ran into the fact the web export from Godot uses a different renderer and it blew up all of my lighting. In my scramble to get that fixed, I truly ran out of time to make the resources behave like I would want them to. I like the idea that as your ship upgrades, the resources will be spread out a bit more but also more valuable so that the upgrades feel worth getting.
I appreciate your time and your kind words!
I am not entirely sure how you managed to make a 3D pixel art game, but the effect is memorizing.
I found a few tutorials on stacked sprites before the jam started and decided I wanted to try to make something with them. Here is an example but there are a bunch on youtube!

I really loved the visuals and vibe. Very atmospheric and engrossing.
In terms of improvements and feedback, the intro fonts were probably a bit large and colour balance a bit off for readability and I wanted to just click outside the upgrade overlay to close it... but other than that the game loop is solid and engaging.
This is a superb game jam submission! Well done indeed.
Clicking outside to close the overlay is a great idea. That is the first thing I will add if I keep this going!
Thank you for your feedback and kind words.
Nice little game.
As feedback, I’d say the WASD controls might work better if the ship automatically turns to face the direction you’re moving in. As it is now, it’s easy to get confused.
Otherwise, a great start — keep it up! 😉
The atmosphere was on point for this! Both the visuals and the sound design really contributed to the overall vibe. So the game looked and felt really great! I do feel like the second battery refill may be a bit too expensive though, as its really hard to get that much before your battery runs out. Otherwise, solid game!
Its been said a lot but the atmosphere created from the visuals and sound design is amazing. Even just exploring gave me a curious feeling. The movement was tricky at first but was pretty smooth after getting used to it. It was a bit hard to navigate at some points. Still really enjoyed it!
This is really cool! i loved the art style and the environment was really atmospheric
Hey, I really like your sound design, and the whole retro style of the game. It all comes together really well. I’m also curious how you managed to pull this off, because the presentation feels very polished.
THE ATMOSPHERE IS SICK LIKE HOLY DAWG
I really like the sound design and the overall atmosphere of the game, the graphics are really cool too. That’s a lot to accomplish for a solo project. Nicely done!
I really enjoyed your game! The intro was amusing and thematic feeling, it set up the game well! The movement of the ship "stuck" at points (right after picking up shards I found I couldn't rotate the ship unless I move forward first). I like that the ship is slower when it is weighted down, but the use of the boost (with a cost of energy) is a great way to give you additional options. I wish there was either a mini map to assist with orientation (I got lost a lot trying to get back to the hubs/shard bank) or a way to plop down a flag or some kind of marker that your ship would then have an arrow pointing towards. I feel like that might be a good way to allow lots of exploration but still give the play some kind of way to navigate back to places they've been. Perhaps you start with one flag and you can buy other colored flags as upgrades later on? I would find it useful to flag the hub and if I found a bunch of crystals I want to return to for instance. Overall though I really enjoyed the game and I hope you continue to develop it! It has a lot of strong points and I think you could build a lot more into it!
Very solid game! Impressive. I enjoyed the atmosphere.
Very niiice atmosphere and vibe of the game! the ui is amazing - it reminds of the browser game motherload! :D beautiful ship also.
but it was a bit hard lol - so i found a bug where you can start moving and then open the shop menu and it will keep the velocity without using energy xD only cahnce i had
very nice atmosphare.
i like the sound when you go boost you ship.
very nice job
EYYY!!!! This game is SICK! The sound effects are honestly peak, really sell the whole experience and make it feel super immersive. The visual style is also really unique and memorable, it stands out a lot compared to other jam games.
A couple things did feel a bit rough though. Movement can feel a little heavy / hard to control at times, which made navigating tight spaces frustrating. I also found it pretty easy to lose track of where I was, and getting back to where I started was confusing, some kind of subtle guidance or landmark system could help or maybe like R for restart button or something to the latest checkpoint of sorts?
But overall the atmosphere and presentation carry it hard. You’ve got a really strong foundation here, it just needs a bit of polish to make the gameplay feel as good as it looks and sounds. Awesome work!

Thank you for taking the time to play and review! I actually love the idea of a reset functionality and it could either cost battery or "shards"/currency!
Trying to make what is actually a flat square feel like you were traveling around an entire planet is what I was going for but I for sure need a bit more time to get the feeling down a bit better. I will be trying yours out later today!
the sound design on this thing is amazing, and i especially loved the wind and the beeps and errors when clicking to extract. the overall atmosphere was really well-built. i did get lost and could not find my way back to the starting point which i assume is the base. but i'm unsure how that problem could be solved without ruining the atmosphere of the game by adding some kind of waypoint. perhaps it was just a skill issue lmao. either way, well done :)
Getting lost happened to me while making it! I put in shells in the shape of arrows to try to show where to go but that is obviously not a great solution lol.
I think if I go any further with this one, I will add an arrow that appears and guides you back after a certain amount of time. Or maybe something you can click to show the way but it takes a bit of your battery life? Either way, thank you playing and thank you for the nice words!
