How does the game fit the theme?
Your mind goes to strange places the deeper into the mushroom rhythm hole you go (you get high)

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I have a game framework I reuse for jam games I make (has parts for audio, data, dialogue, etc. managing). A third of the songs arent made during the time (crater and theres malware in my head)

How many people worked on the game?

The game was pretty cool, and even tought I  never played a rhythm game, I kinda enjoyed it, I also liked how the gnome in the tutorial gets mad when I make a mistake, I think it's pretty funny. Well done!

Not very often to see rhythm game in the Game Jam

First off I js wanna mention that i have like 500 hours / a 5 digit in osu. The style and music are probably one of the most unique and pleasant to look at in the jam and by itself would be 5 stars. Yall should really add the calibrate delay thingy in the tutorial tho. It felt like the notes weren't actually on beat sometimes before that :sob:. Having some sort of indicator when u get stuff right or wrong (like osu's taunts) would be awesome too. U could could have multiple slider/beat "skins" based on skill too? I also feel like itd be a good idea to explore using space for hold instead of 2 sets of wasd or arrow keys as it can feel messy swapping sometimes (it is a interesting mechanic tho, so idk :sob:). Overall a really good game, well done :3

(PS, how'd yall get persistence working for the web build :sob:)

You can just save a file to usr:// and the web will save it for you to read back in later

You basically made keyboard osu in a week. Outstanding job.

This was really cool. I don't seea lot of rhythm games in jams, so this immediately stood out. The visuals were great, colorful without being overwhelming, and the UI was super clean. I always appreciate when rhythm games clearly communicate misses, combos, and feedback, and you nailed that. It always felt clear why I hit or missed something. The whole mushroom vibe + trippy progression fits the theme in a fun way too.

I managed to get an S rank on one of the songs (the easier one lol), and I'm irrationally proud of that. Really solid rhythm game, great presentation, and strong execution. Nice work to the whole team.

I am not a good enough gamer for this. Really cool, funky style though. I can tell there was a lot of attention to detail to make these fun visuals. Solid submission!

A cool rhythm game with great visuals, but I’m just not very good at this kind of games.

The music is awesome and gameplay is fun and smooth. I really liked it!

the gameplay is like a mix of osu and project diva its dope overall and i think its a cool game!

I was confident after the tutorial (great addition) that I would do fine, but I was totally wrong! I think the first song could start off a bit easier and then scale up as it progresses. But nice game! Controls, visuals and music are solid.

Game feels smooth and i like rythm games in general but i wish there were some rl hard songs

This was sick! Music is awesome, visuals are trippy without being overbearing, and the mechanics are fun! Its tough to fight the natural instinct to avoid pressing multiple keys at once during the slides, but it feels really solid once you do!

Wow, the sound design and the art are fantastic! I enjoyed the gameplay too. Nice game!

I had so much fun playing this game and the music is realy good! Well done!

Yeah, I am terrible at this, the game has a strong identity, good juice, punchy soundtrack but for the rhythmically challenged its a tough chew. I would selfishly have like even easier modes.  The psychedelic effects where a "high note" ;)

I enjoyed a good rhythm game. and will always play when I see one. The theming is really cool, and the psychedelic effects make the whole experience really fun and enjoyable. Songs are really nice, and I appreciate the effort of making songs in a jam. It must have been so hard. I would say my main concern is that the notes slow down scaling when it reaches the target makes it super disorienting to find the correct beat and timing. This leads to a lot of unwarranted misses, and it doesn't feel that good when it happens.

Other things I like:

  • The game being a very legit rhythm game. Rare to see jam games doing so
  • Gnome-themed health bar

Suggestions:

  • Consider changing the icon of the holding notes, as it looks too similar to the "any" notes right now
  • Some audio feedback for the note would be nice too

Really fun! I enjoyed the funky beats from the first two songs and the visual effects. The gnome tutorial was very well done too! Minor nitpick is that its difficult to time the arrows properly from the visuals since they kind of cover up the end position.

Very coolio! Loved the uniqueness and vibe this game had! You should check out our game as well!

The graphics are really funky and nice! And I loved the music choices.

I really struggled to clear the first stage, but the other ones I made some progress in, I assumes the first would be the easiest so I kept banging my head against it for a good while before moving on.

The inputs were good, except space bar, for some reason those felt less forgiving than the others. Or maybe it's a keyboard issue on my end.

I do really like how well polished this game is.  And even if I'm absolutely horrible at rythm games it was still fun to try! :D

Developer

You don't hit space for any of the notes so thats probably what the issue was (the circle notes accept any of the 4 directions  rather than that). I can adjust the tutorial post jam to make it a bit more clear

Great job on this. The visual effects were an interesting touch beyond what I was expecting from the game initially! Very polished little jam game! Enjoyed it!
