I found all the items but only got back to the ship on time twice and got a creepy ending.  The slidey controls and tight time pressure made it pretty difficult.

The fuzzy filter was an interesting effect but made it quite hard to see things especially with how dark the planets were (even with the flashlight).  I prefer the look of the screenshots on the itch page since they look a lot brighter and crisper than what I was seeing in game.  The use of HTTP status codes was funny.

Neat little entry, It definitely has that lethal company sort of vibe. I didn't realize I could sprint until my 3rd run but I don't know why I didn't try shift sooner, I was able to win a few levels before finally I lost another.

I like the little twist at the end, gels very well with the grim vibe of the whole game.

The sound of the ship about to take off as the timer counts down was pretty anxiety inducing so it fit well with the theme of the game.

Some audio options would be nice especially since some SFX seemed to be way louder than everything else.

Nice work.

That phone dialog sound killed me. The game was very well made. The artstyle might be a bit overused but it fit very well. Reminded me a lot of games like lethal company. Gameplay-wise it was also strangely addicting. You have established a pretty solid (and fast-paced!) gameplay loop. Sound design is also solid.

The only things I can criticize are that the timer should probably start only after you left the ship and that I hoped there was more to do (but the excellent gameplay loop kept me going for some time anyway).

I think you should try looking into doing web builds for jams next time. This game might be a bit of a hidden gem, since you only have a Windows build (Linux also worked in my case using Proton).

i never exported to web before so i didnt even consider it up until the very last hour. and at that point something broke the game so badly i couldnt even send the final build to the jam and ended up submitting an older build sadly, but next jam ill be more prepared for sure

I'm not a big fan of the CRT (?) graphics, but I set that aside because the game looked fun.

Some notes that I took:

  • Some parts of the map were so dark that I could not see where I'm going and the flashlight wasn't helping much, since it only the next two steps.
  • Probably related to the previous point, but the ship was hard to see when I was returning from a more distant object. I saw the bright spot, but sometimes I had no idea which way I should go for the ramp and I missed it by a few seconds.
  • Someone already pointed out the movement, I just wanted to note that I also got stuck with the ramp one time when returning.
  • The narrative was simple but sufficient, it managed to create the right atmosphere for the game. I would maybe add 1-2 sentences information for each planet, just a little fluff text of why we are investigating that specific spot. It's easy work and I think it would add a lot to the experience.
  • Most of the levels had the right challenge, I managed to get back with only <3-5 seconds left, so the tension was real. With some minor improvements (lighting/flashligh, movement and equipping Trusty by default) would make it feel more fair in my opinion.
  • The ending was a nice touch, corporately depressing with a bit of mystery. I actually tried to escape the map just to see if I can do it, and it looked like I fell down some ledge and back to the main area. I'm just interested, was it teleporting me back at the edge?

fair points. and yh, when u fall down the edge of the map it just teleports u back to 0,0. we had some ideas on how to implement death or a world that keeps looping back but what ended up in the final build was a very scuffed teleport 😅

To be fair, it worked well, I just wanted to confirm my suspicions :)

It was simple, cute, and well-polished. Honestly, time was tight, and I needed two attempts to win, but it felt like a sweet victory. kudos

The atmosphere in this game is great, and the gameplay itself, even though rather simple, is very fun too!
The movement felt a bit floaty at the beginning for me and I missed the ship a few times getting stuck in the ramp, but it feels very good once you get the hang of it.

I got up to level 31 my second run, but I guess it does not have a good ending :c

Edit: I also kinda don't understand why having Trusty unequipped is an option

Ooh this game was crazy. How am I the first to play it? I missed the ship every time just barely, it was so stressful haha. I don't know if there are other endings or if the game is always meant to end after three missions, but the ending I got lowkey gave me goosebumps. Very effective visual story telling. Only critique I have is that my fps wasn't amazing. You guys should review others' games to get more visibility because this is one of the best I've played so far.

we thought about other endings but with a short time frame we couldnt implement them lol. and yeah performance was awful, and bc we only tested it in a pc with a 3080 we only found out how bad it was on the last day and at that point it was too late :( thx for the feedback
