Awesome concept and great execution!! Got a lot of polish and is fun! great game

wish I could be a little faster though

Developer

I agree that we should have experimented with faster movement to help the game progress quicker. Anyways thanks for playing!

Very cool and thoughtful. I see that you made a lot of effort to make it intuitive and simple to put stuff and know where it will be placed and It's great, also getting to part where you can't see you character and wall becomes partly invisible is great, but I think there still need some work to be done because when It gets chaotic It's still not very clear where will it be placed (the blue thing that shows where it will go gets crazy sometimes). But overall great entry and a fun and creative game! :)

Wow the idea for this game is brilliant! Honestly it's one of the few times in game jams where I can totally see this one expanded to an actual game. The art and sound are lovely too!

Maybe to give some tough love, I can give some constructive feedback as well:

The controls should really be improved - they don't feel good right now:

  • The furniture should show where's forward - when you rotate it to thew side, you don't really know
  • You should no be able to pick up or put furniture outside the walls / into other furniture - I would remove the concept of "red warning" completly - it never felt like it was my fault - it's felt like the controls are iffy (e.g, I tried to pickup new furniture, and instead picked up something I put next the the front door inside the house)
  • Actually, I would snap furniture next to wall / matching furniture if they're close enough - because of the prespective, I failed to put the nightstand next to the bed from the top several times

The restrictions thmselves were good, but I would actually put more restrictions - don't let me "cover" blue walls with green walls; give color to each wall in the house (kitchen, bathroom ec), force me the put the chairs facing the table, etc.

Also, 10 minutes feels very danuting when you don't know what's the goal - is it to place set amount of furniture? as many as you can? is it random?

For me It felt semi random- the furniture seem like they're grouped by room, but the I got chairs and tv again, so I'm not really sure

I can totally see this one expanded to a million exciting directions - small houses, bigger houses, room types, office spaces, stairs etc... It have both challenge and player expression - very cool idea!

First of, thank you so much for giving our game a go. I am really glad that you liked it so much. As the person, in charge of art and sound design, it's really nice to hear your praise. Now onto your complaints, they are not just valid, but are exactly what we were thinking in development (for the most part).

- The whole placing of furniture mechanic was done quickly and should be reworked at some point, but with the one week time restriction, we decided to leave it as is. I do agree that red warnings are a lazy way to deal with item clipping and idealy, this shouldn't be possible in the first place. The controls would need MASSIVE reworking and playtesting in order to feel fair and make mishaps feel like your own faul, instead of game being janky.
- Furniture snapping either to one another or onto some sort of a grid system is an idea we were thinking about. It would make the placing of the furniture feel more predictable and make the player feel more in control, but again, we just didn't have the time to properly implement such a feature.
- Your ideas for restrictions are solid and I definitely could think of some more. We kinda settled on some simple ones, as to avoid making the game feel too confusing. We didn't explain this properly, but the blue walls were originaly meant to be source of electricity and water, that's why every piece of furniture that requires it, either of those.
- The game has no "you win" ending, it might benefit from a tutorial that kinda explains what the objective is. Though I think the objective in one corner and a countdown with a score in another is a clear enough indicator that this is an endless game.
- At the begining of the game, there are a couple of "waves" of predetermined sets of furniture (you get the table, then chairs, then bed, etc.), but at some point the next furniture set is generated randomly.

Once again, thank you for both the praise and the constructive critisizem. I really apreachiate you taking the time to write such a comprehensive review for our little jam game. Sadly, we don't plan to continue the development on this game, since we didn't put much though into maintainablility, so going back to tweak stuff would be a hassle. Also this is my first time participating in a game jam, so I kinda just wanted to see what I can make in a week.

I really like this one!
The visuals are great and the audio works nicely for it.

I did think it played a little slow and could do with lowering the available time and increasing the movement speed, but it was still fun to move everything around to jigsaw the place together!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for the feedback! We wanted to give the player enough time to fill out most of the house so that it gets hard to fit everything towards the end. Increasing the movement speed is a good suggestion. Anyway thanks for playing!

What kind of gym does this guy go to

Developer

Hahaha  I don't think he needs a gym since he is the only employee and the manager is there to motivate his workouts

Great take in the theme! I am ipressed how you could find a mechanic that fits “strange places”, deserves 5 starts just because of that, well done!

Developer(+1)

I am so glad you liked it. And great job on your score tbh.

Funny game! The placement could be a bit more accurate, but it’s a great start. Keep going!

Developer

Thank you.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Can you explain what you mean by more accurate placement? Are you talking about controls or item collisions?

Submitted

Sure! For example, at the beginning where you have to place the chairs at the table — they glitched away, and then the exclamation mark appeared. It wasn’t that easy to place them correctly there.

Would be glad if you can give me feedback too ^^
