Great game!

Submitted

hey there, let’s start with the gameplay. it was fine but the player was a bit too floaty. also the sword was kinda useless after you got the gun (the sword was way too ineffective with the purple shooting enemies) so i used the gun for the rest of the fighting parts. when we look at music the ost was nice but some sfx were too much (for instance when you destroy the glass it almost blew up me ears), however, the sound of breaking wood was very satisfying. the visuals with the theme were the best parts about this game. the idea of being character from one type of game fighting and existing in some others was interesting. good luck with developing and feel free to try our game :D

What a fun game! Great movement and art. I'll definitely be back to play again.

Very nice concept, was fun to play! I would polish some collision and give some attack cooldown since I felt overpowerd. congratz for making a game!

Submitted

Nice game! I had fun :) I love the atmosphere and the art! I really sad it's over

Simple and direct: i like it! I think the idea is fine enough so i'll concentrate mainly on the gameplay itself. Movement and the floatiness of the jumps work nice to reach all the platforms and enemies with ease however maybe i would have loved to have some fort of horizontal movement like a dash or at leat a projectile that went forward. Still, pretty sweet, good job!

Developer

Wait... someone actually likes the floatiness?!?!?!? That is so rare!

Thank you!

We planned/planning to expand on the genres and unlocks that the player can get

Woow, what a game. I had so much fun playing it. And it matches the theme so well. Nicely implemented. Super duper coooooool

That was an interesting journey. Not sure if it would qualify as a metroidvania because it was mostly linear, but I had fun!

Developer

thaats... a good point, the idea was the character is from a metroidvania, leaning on the collecting abilities aspect of the genre, and then move into different genres like a bullet hell or farming game.

Thanks for feedback, will take on board

Hi

This was so much fun.

Changing games in a game was awesome.

There could have been even more shooting and fighting.

What i mean to say is im sad it's over.

Welldone,

Thank you.

Hey, loved the game, loved the concept.

First of all, when I get the space invaders level, after that I thought to myself "this has so much potential" in terms of game genres. I myself have a soft spot for genre mixups and 4th wall breaks so naturally I loved the character and the levels.

Controlls were okay but jumping needs some kind of tweak. I feel like I'm flying when I jump. Other than that it's fun!

Developer

Thanks!

We want to expand and enter more genres along with genres we already had, add more content to the worlds

Great game!!!

Really cool take on the theme. I am a HUGE sucker for metroidvanias so I am kinda biased, but I liked the idea of dropping a classic metroidvania-style character into completely different genres kept things fresh the whole way through, and it was fun never quite knowing what the next section would play like. The knight’s animations are especially nice, they give the character a lot of personality.

If I had one suggestion, it would be to tweak the jump physics a bit. Right now the character feels a little floaty, which sometimes makes platforming less precise than it could be, especially in tighter sections. A bit more gravity or faster fall speed would probably make the movement feel snappier.

Overall though, super creative project with a lot of memorable moments. Nicely done.
ALSO, if you like brainteasing puzzle platformers make sure to check out our game!

Developer

Thanks! I am so proud of the art my partner made.

Thanks for feedback on the gravity, mainly a case of tweaking and testing

Hey, I liked your game and the idea of exploring different genres with a classical metroidvania guy.

One thing I would recommend is increasing the gravity a bit, that the jumps don't feel to floaty.

Developer

Thanks!

Wow, that was a perfect bunch of strangeness bundled together! Great work, enjoyed it!

So while playing, the game went from a shovel knight, to a space invaders, to then a gardening game to then...I dunno :D. The Magic Beanstalk platforming level gave me PTSD from when I was younger playing Shrek 2 on PC and the beanstalk levels were a nightmare. Coincidentally, in your game you come home living under a tree like Shrek :) Good job!

Developer(+1)

This is the best comment I have ever seen!

Glad to give you Shrek 2 PTSD!

Thaaaaanks!

Very adventurous game! The running animation is very smooth and satisfying to watch. The overall experience shows a lot of potential, and it feels like a strong foundation to build on. Nice job!

Developer

Thanks!

That was enjoyable! The different environments were very cool to see. I love the creativity and just how everything was put together. I was pretty amazed when I saw the roof break and the water drop on the bean to grow a bean stalk.

People have mentioned other stuff, but I'll mention the animation for the sword. Very much a nitpick, but I think it felt odd to see me down smash and the sword tween slowly between the two states. Might be more effective to instantly have the sword be underneath the knight so it feels responsive and matches with the down smash action better. Otherwise, it looked like I just smashed my poor knees into the breakable wood. XD

Otherwise, creative work!

Developer

Thanks!

Yeah, duly noted about the tween, will make snappy.

Also... Superhero landiiiiiing

This was a fun concept. A metroidvania protagonist getting thrown into other genres is such a clever way to handle the theme.

The main character animations looked great, and I like how each new ability actually changed how you approached the puzzles instead of just being a small upgrade. Using all the tools together to solve a room felt satisfying.

Movement-wise, the jumping felt a bit floaty, maybe just needs a bit of tuning, but the core mechanics are definitely there.

This was a creative idea with some really cool moments.

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

Yeah, the floatiness just needs lots of tuning and testing, I intend on improving this

First of all, loads of nice art! Especially the knight looks really cool, and all the art fits together super nicely. I really like the concept of the game too, going into different genres. Though I would want to see more action in each gerne, it would probably be too much to ask for in a game jam game. There is already so much stuff you've done. Good job on making the game!

Other things I like:

  • Controller support, though the hold west button thingy is a bit counterintuitive
  • Space boss fight
  • The beanstalk that brings you back to the top of the level is such a satisfying way to end the game

Suggestions:

  • The jump might need some tuning. It felt so floaty right now
  • I think moving the space level further back, ideally being the last level, would make better sense as a game

Very fun game! it looks good and the knight animations are so smoth. The concept is cool too. And the game fells super responsive Good job!

Developer

Thanks!

Incredible game! The concept is very interesting and my own game (while not on the same level) has a similar theme of breaking the game. This was super well executed though. If I had one complaint it would be that the space level was way harder than the rest of the game. I'm sure that's partially intentional but it still kind of felt out of place for a game that had been relatively easy until then and was easy after that. Still a fantastic execution of a great concept. Great job!
