How does the game fit the theme?
The original idea was to have many different characters all coming together in different environments. I wasn't able to complete everything in time.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All code and the center platform were made from scratch. The characters are from KayKit, the music is from Ovani, the skill icons were from an asset pack, and the ground texture is from SouthernShotty.
How many people worked on the game?1

I saw your podcast and came to the game! good podcast btw, I am also a new dev. some tips ive just learned this game jam is to rate others, it makes your game more seen in the categories, also yes there is downtime that devs take after the jam, usually 1-2 days, however for the no sleep peoples like me, you can use that downtime to set up the page for when people start coming. hope this helped!
That’s good to know about those categories! It sounds like being part of the event also helps boost games quite a bit. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and I appreciate you checking out the podcast too. How was your experience with Brackeys Jam?
Thx! And it was… interesting to say the least. I found it to be really difficult to manage the time and after the jam I realised I was at a disadvantage from the start. 2 things I noticed is that 1, you can be in a team. I was only by myself and couldn’t find a community that would want to help, and so after the jam I realised they have a discord for that exact thing. And 2, since this is my first legitimate game jam aside from brainless mini, I assumed pre preparing anything before the game jam would get me disqualified, when in reality you can import as many assets or packages as you own! And so for next jam, I’m going to try find a group 1-2 days beforehand, and as for now I am working on making my own VFX, Models, and SFX packages for the future, as that is what ate up most of my time in the jam. Thx for asking though! Hope I brought some insight into how I felt during the jam.
This game is pretty good. I do wish it had audio, and the visuals aren't the best, but I still had a ton of fun, and this is definitely a fantastic foundation for a potential game in the future that could be even better! Great game, and good luck to you and your game dev journeys!!!
Thanks so much for checking the game out! It's so great to hear you enjoyed the foundation. I got you on the audio for next time 😁
I came from your video on youtube. I played your game. Game dev is a long road. Stay strong and good luck with your endeavour.
Cheers! Likewise to you too. We'll both be climbing the tower together. Hopefully I 'm better at climbing the game dev tower than I was at climbing the Abandoned Tower, heh. 😅
Was looking to see if anyone made any youtube vids about the jam yet and stumbled upon your video. After listening to the vid and after playing your game, I think you're definitely headed in the right direction trying to release a lot, twelve games is a little crazy, but you'll learn a lot if you can pull it off. Practice doesn't make perfect but it sure does help a lot lol. But two core pieces of advice that'd I say to you that I learned the hard way is you should outsource as much as you possibly can so you can develop and prototype faster (use packages and work in teams with people you like). This lets you focus on things you not only really care about, but lets your skills shine and not stretch yourself too thin on stuff you suck at and or bug fix dumb issues you never wish you were coding. Aka if you find yourself hating play controllers or dialog managers there are so many packages for those things. Not saying I know this exactly your issue, its just your mindset kind of reminds me of myself when I started, so this may be projection, but I really can't recommend it enough. It has made me 20x more productive and 20x happier going through the motions with friends. Good luck on your journey!
Thanks so much for watching my retro, giving my game a shot, and for your kind comment! I appreciate you looking out for me and I can always use more words of encouragement to not bite off more than I can chew to soon haha. It makes total sense to focus on specific parts and start honing in on the pieces that I want to focus on while simultaneously finding others to team up with where we cover each other's blind spots or weak areas. Plus I would imagine it makes the journey much more fun during the grindy parts. Cheers and best wishes on your journey as well!
Cute little game with nice graphics. Think the core idea is great and would love to se it maybe expanded with different abilities. could make a cool fighting game.
Cheers! Thanks for giving the game a shot!
It's fun to slice through a bunch of enemies :)
Thanks for checking out the game! It's awesome to hear that came through 😄
