Haha thanks so much! But you probably played the patch I dropped like a min after voting ended. It was a lot rougher during the jam, I always forget how the four day time frame is super tight. But glad you liked it none the less. Hope to see you guys again in the next one :)

Hahaha! Thanks so much, wow what a glowing review. We were really crunching hard to get this done and massive props to Jacob would did the backend and Gabe who did all of our music. They really did a fantastic job as always. For the art, every jam I do all the art fresh except sometimes using other peoples fonts. But Ive been really blown away honestly by how much people like the aesthetic! It was just supposed to be an experiment for me to see how far I could use a more limited palette.
For the music, I'll see if I can get gabe to upload that to spotify or youtube at somepoint, but hes always performing for a couple bands hes in lol. So no promises but Ill try my best.
Also very grateful that you played it through and we plan to butter this lobster a lil more so stay tuned! :)
Thanks so much! I do a lot of pixel art as well as image quantizing (taking photos and reducing their colors and making them pixel art), I did the same in our last jam too. But this time, I was trying it a limited palette of eight colors and found they really worked much better than when I used them with a 32 color palette. So I really leaned into it and am very happy everyone likes the aesthetic!
For the sound design, you're very right. We got a bit ambitious for the four days as we normally do and had to cut a lot of planned stuff. But we're fully planning on adding, SFXs as well as better tutorializing and browser mobile compatibility post jam.
Thanks again for playing!
Thats a lot of content and very polished game. Love the winding up mechanic and all the bosses.
Wonder if you could make the time bar a health bar as well though, that might be fun. Also maybe a bit up buffing to the bosses by knocking the main character away a bit. But just some thoughts I had, Giving it five stars for enjoyment :)
Nice! Quite good for a first jam, The intuitive UI especially, telling the user which keys to press and having a timer on screen. I made it all the way through.
Also little advice is I'm not sure if the ability to escape the stage was on purpose or I missed a secret there, but it made an other wise pretty complete game, feel a little less complete. Also the enemies, if you do an occasional raycast for line of sight, makes them feel a lot more fair and real.
Great job!
Thanks for playing! I added a little movement guide to the description to try and help ease some of the learning pains, will add a similar guide into the game in a patch after. But Four days is really a crunch, one of those projects that I think would be 30% better with even half a days more polish.
Wow thanks for the recognition! We were trying to do something similar but slimmer than House Rules, dialog and stage based but an auto battler instead of chess. Think it came out kinda unique and crazy. Also we're releasing House Rules (renamed to Rulehouse) on steam at somepoint. Thanks for playing our stuff :)
Thanks so much! We we developing all the way up to the deadline and I'm really proud of the visuals. The combination of robots and plants as well as pixel art and collage I think came together much better than I expected. Also Gabe on our team cooked up some fire for the music. Also the homestuck reference is a big compliment!
Really good game, inspired us in our latest game, talked about it in a blog we wrote. Thought it might be fun to read about how we took inspiration from it, cheers!
Not yet, but you can follow our musician on Instagram. Or I'll respond here once we get a youtube channel up and running and post the OST. Thanks for asking!
Really liked all the characters and especially that they all had their own tracks and dialog! Did wish there was a little more onboarding/tutorializing, since I found my self not getting enough ingredients to make food until several nights in. But I did really like the atmosphere though, perfect for the theme and as a fan of dream barbeque, I can see the inspiration. Nice game!
Thanks so much for the kind words! The team worked around the clock to get it playing, sounding and looking just right. So glad you liked it and for the easter egg, if you click the 'O' in 'House Rules' in the title screen seven times it'll unlock all stages now. Also theres a second more hidden easter egg that exists if you wait for a bit on the map... but you didn't hear it from me.
