How does the game fit the theme?
Rusty the Fox is in a very strange place - alien features are consuming the previously inviting alpine, and the world is broken into island floating on the void. The network of caves is the only point of connection. Rusty must use bizarre items to craft his way to space.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We made everything from scratch! (except a tiny bit of font). All music, fx, code, art, and bugs were done by hand this week.

adorable
Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed
Wow the art style is impressive! The game was really fun!
Glad you enjoyed the art! There was a lot more of it that needed to be done than we realized when we started the project
This is a nice little crafting game that has more than i thought! I usually leave detailed feedback so hope this isn't intimidating!
Overall, this was a lot more complex than i thought and the goal of having to build a rocket definitely had set up an interesting premise.
I overall enjoyed playing and the crafting system - I love crafting games so I might be biased!
Thank you for taking the time to play the game and leave such good feedback! I think getting a tutorial in the game would help with explaining things (still kicking myself for that) - but I really liked how you gave some suggestions to make things more intuitive by itself, without having to tread some text or something. We want to do at least 1 post jam update so I'll give some more thought how to use that approach (with the thought bubble, or drawing attention to the timer)
There is a way to craft upgrades in the cave at the tree in the corner. You can get 10 more inventory slots this way, but I had gotten feedback that most of the upgrades were as difficult to craft as the main quest items, so I think I need to do some rebalancing.
Sorry about the cave and resetting your items! That 100% was going to be explained in the tutorial in my head, but I can see how that happens (I didn't even get any visual indication when the day timer was running low). Thanks for playing and again for the feedback. I love playing crafting/survival games, but this was my first attempt in the style.
no worries, good job on the game man! very good for the first attempt~
Nice game. The gameplay loop was pretty fun, but a bit grindy for a jam.
Thank you for playing and for the feedback!
Exploring and crafting mechanics are fun to play. The visual is also very cute. Overall, great work :)
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed, and thanks for playing
Game was really fun, but it was quite confusing what i actually picked up and what i crafted. Maybe some popups or something. The art is amazing though
Thank you! That's a great suggestion. If we had a bit more time, I think we could have made some special pick-up or crafting animations that would have felt nice
Really cool game,
I liked the gameplay loop. It was fun planning for what resources I needed and going out exploring and trying to find them. I really liked the art style too it looked quite nice
The music was good but the audio during loading screens would glitch out a bit
The crafting was nice but a bit of extra visual polish when crafting an item would be really good
Overall I enjoyed playing this
Good job!
Thank you so much for taking the time to play our game and leave feedback! We definitely plan to fix the audio glitch. I like the idea of additional polish or visual interest when it comes to crafting. We will have to give it some thought on how best to improve in that area. Thanks again!!
Congratulations on your game! The exploration and crafting are great. It reminded me a bit of No Man's Sky. It looks beautiful!
Thank you so much! We both love No Man Sky and were thrilled at the comparison. :)
The artistic style and gameplay are pretty polished, great game!
Thank you so much!
Sweet game, like the background music alot.

small feedback:
I think you have the same "bug" like my game, that the PauseMenu does not "Pause" the game:
Thank you for the feedback (glad you liked the music)! Aha I think you are right about the bug. Looks like the timers keep going and you can walk around when paused lol. Thank you for reporting, I'll fix that after the jam unlocks
Such a lovely game with crafting mechanics! It was fun and relaxing to play:)
I really liked the art too - as a small suggestion there is a brown tile with stones between every two rooms, i think it's a bit confusing because at first i thought it's a wall and i need to find something to destroy it, but it's a minor suggestion:)
Thanks for the compliments and feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. We did a lot of rework on the "cliff" tileset, but I think you are right that it could use more polish. The paths do look like blockades or walls between sections
Really nice game.
Art style is very coherent and beautiful. At start, it is a bit overwhelming to get all the item recipes and having to remember them, but after some time you learn them and know quite good what you want to collect.
I think the game is a bit missing a stronger lose condition: losing your hunger does not do much besides losing speed, and the day lasts a bit too long for it to really matter. But that is just a balancing aspect.
There is quite a bunch of mechanics already in the game: gathering, crafting, upgrades… all in a beautiful environment.
Very good job :)
Thanks for playing the game and giving it a chance! I'm glad you enjoyed it and got into it. I think it kinda ended up fun to be able to know what to look for in the world to craft (I didn't get to play the full thing until after it was submitted lol - too busy working right up to the deadline)
Thanks for the feedback too, I think we can implement some improvements to increase the pressure a little bit to make things matter more
Wow, that’s an impressive amount of crafting recipes and ingredients: interesting idea and the world. I enjoyed exploring around, and the chill vibes combined with the crafting game. It would be cool if the game explained how all these items work, so I can better understand what to craft first. It would also be helpful to know how to consume the food.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it. We mapped out the crafting "web" about halfway through the jam, but still didn't realize how intensive it would be until we were still implementing and arting objects on the final day.
Thanks for the feedback, I agree that's an area we can improve. Also, you cannot directly "eat" the food currently. That was one of the elements we unfortunately dropped before submitting due to scope and time. (You use the crafted dishes as upgrades in the den)
Neat aesthetic. I love the art!
Thank you! :)
Such a fun and cute little survival/crafting game. Some of the mechanics were a little bit unintuitive (such as the fact that you replenish your hunger bar by returning to one of the dens, *not* by crafting and eating the food items, which actually serve to *upgrade* your maximum hunger). But once I figured out the mechanics through trial and error and started to memorize the different recipes, I really started to enjoy the game.
Thank you! We wanted to add a more traditional eating mechanic but it was something we had to scrap to finish other things, it is something we would like to expand on in the future! A tutorial is also on our "to do" with the next update to make the unintuitive elements a bit more straightforward! Thank you so much for giving our game a go and leaving such thoughtful feedback, it is greatly appreciated!
There is so much to this game. You can sit in it for a long time. I kinda wish it was more entertaining to grab items from the floor, not just walk around an "empty" world, but the idea is there. Graphics are cool, the music is a vibe. Good stuff!
Thank you so much for taking the time to try out our game! We would like to add some more interactivity in an update. I'm glad you enjoyed the music and graphics! Thanks for the feedback!
It was a really nice little crafting session, the atmosphere is great. If I could add one small suggestion, it would be to include something on top of the crafting, something that slightly disrupts the loop, like enemies or events that break the repetition a bit. Well done on your game.
Thanks for the compliments and the suggestion! We decided on no combat/enemies for the jam version early in the design brainstorm (to limit the things) but I think you are right about needing some more pressure or life in the game. Right now it is just time and inventory management.
Such a cute game! I love the crafting system - having to search for the right items to craft was enjoyable. It's always satisfying to be able to craft upgrades.
One suggestion is to add some obstacles or enemies of some sort. At the moment, the game doesn't really have much stakes, so to keep the player on their toes and engaged, it could be nice to have something to oppose the player other than hunger.
Overall, such a cute game and aesthetic!
Thank you for the comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the crafting aspect, it was one of the things we put a lot of thought into designing. Thanks for the feedback too. One of the ideas we heard was to limit the number of times you can return to the den (like a day 1,2, 3, etc.) Or enemies as you suggested could also help keep pressure on the player
The art and music made it such an immersive experience! The crafting system was really well thought out. At first, I didn't quite get what the game was about, but as I started gathering things and crafting, it all clicked. Great job!
Thanks for the comments! I'm glad you gave the game a chance and were able to figure out the things :) We got the crafting tree planned out in a flow diagram around Day 5. It started looking more like a crafting web lol
I had a lot of fun playing this!! Such a charming art style and premise! I also couldn't figure out how to eat and had trouble figuring out a lot of the crafting until I realized I was missing the entire bottom two rows because it was zoomed in on my browser for some reason, but I eventually figured that out and beat the game.
Thank you so much for taking the time to play (and beat!) our game! There are a few rough spots we hoped to iron out with a tutorial world but we couldn't quite get it done in time for the deadline. We will have to do some additional testing on the game size, we noticed some issues with firefox vs chrome but it was lower on our list of priorities. Something to aspire to fix after the game jam concludes! Thanks again for checking out our game! :)
