good job on tackling a 3d setup, the mechanics were well put together, creative in the placement of words and clues! thanks for rating my game! /jam/brackeys-15/rate/4313134

Lowkey one of the better 3d games for the jam :3 The dithering effect was cool and the idea was really unique. Some feedback on when you get a name wrong would be about the only thing i could really ask for. maybe its like wordle where if you get it roughly in the same are,  it changes colors? I guess the hints also there though. Overall really well done!!!!!!!!!!!

Really cool idea, the Obra Dinn-style deduction but with literally "collecting" words from the environment is such a clever twist. I had fun wandering around and noticing little details (what people point at, objects on tables, etc.) The dithered look and overall art direction all fit well together, and the jukebox being interactable is a great little detail. Also ran surprisingly smooth for me in WebGL. Awesome work!

Enjoyment: I had fun and was intrigued... so much I wanted to solve it and did it. Clues are fairly good to get and overall well designed loop.

Gameplay: Easy controls, even on web I faced no real issues, except maybe carrying around to many words. Speaking of carrying to many words, at my first try I paid too little attention to the hints and hence created a mess, would have loved a reset/restart button to go to the initial placement of words.

Innovation: Quite refreshing take on a puzzling game, can see myself the one or other mechanic to spice gameplay further, but I like it.

Theme: I like the meta-interpretation of the theme, not going the more obvious option and "simply" create a strange diner. Additionally I like how you also included the theme into the main game mechanic. Strongest category for the submission in my opinion.

Visuals: The models were nicely done considering the short amount of available time. Really like how the different interactables, fonts and letters are consistent yet different. Nice job on visuals.

Audio: I really like the jukebox being interactable and having a way to choose your jam. Thanks for the sliders of the audio and sfx.

I like the uncommon mechanics of this game and the dithered look. It was enjoyable!

Nice! This was a really cool game and I would've loved to see more levels. It was really fun figuring everything out and I really like the picking and placing words mechanic. Good job!

Ooh, great job! I like games like this and had a fun time. The mechanic of taking words from the level and watching them disappear and enter your clipboard is really innovative and well executed here (with nice SFX to sell it as well). Fun visual style as well. I think playing a few levels like this with different word categories and increasing difficulty would make a nice full game.

The constructive feedback part:

  • The clipboard takes up a lot of the view when it's open, getting in the way of picking words sometimes. I'm sure you're aware and might have tweaked it with more time.
  • Slight confusion, not major: I solved the character with the yellow info box first, and knew it was correct based on the sound cues etc. But then after solving the character with the green box correctly, I felt a bit unsure for a second looking back at the yellow box. Green = correct, yellow = caution? Then realised that each character has a different colour. Just something to be aware of, with certain colours having such strong pre-built associations.
  • I really loved the metaphorical layer of your theme interpretation, and that feeling of being in a strange place between what you do for a living and what you dream of doing is very relatable (especially for us hobbyist game devs!) That said, I think a few extra/larger windows showing the diner underwater would have really sold the more surface-level theme. I didn't notice the current underwater window background at first.

The game was so enjoyable! One of my favourites, I think, especially since I love the genre. You've worked well with the genre while introducing a new innovation of your own, so really well done!

really nice graphics, nice game!
