How does the game fit the theme?
NOTE: If the camera is not moving, disable your antivirus program.

The game is set in the 'Backrooms', an endless, liminal space that perfectly embodies the 'Strange Places' theme. It focuses on the unsettling feeling of being in a location that feels familiar yet completely wrong, utilizing non-euclidean geometry and distorted environments to keep the player on edge

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

i used the Unity engine for development. Sound effects and ambient tracks were sourced from Pixabay. Some environment textures were gathered from Google Images/Stock sources. All level design, lighting, core gameplay mechanics, and character logic were developed by me during the jam period

The atmoshphere on this one is incredible, I was on edge the whole time. Visuals also fantastic, audio and to the feel. It would have been great to have some story or game elements included in there somehow. Either way it was a great experience, good job!

The visuals and atmosphere seem very well done, creating an immersive strange place experience. It’s a solid start with good potential to build on.

The ambience is incredible ! The camera movement with the little blur on the edge is really nice ! The sounds effects are great too (except for the crouch one which is tooo loud). Overall nice job. Hope to have a story with it.

the visuals are stunning and the audio is immersive, however it is just pretty much a walking simulator despite the disclaimer at the beginning. the concept of the backrooms do follow the theme, yet its not really original... overall, really neat concept but i feel like u could maximise the potential by prioritising gameplay rather than polish.

Got it Thank you!

Nice combination of art + music really did make for a great experience. Figured there would be no real gameplay, but was hoping for something that would give me a thrill or a scare.

Developer

We couldn't do it because we had limited time, but we paid attention to the atmosphere. Thank you

Hey, just a heads up: the game isn’t loading properly on my side. As soon as it starts I’m stuck and can’t move or look around.

Developer

This is unfortunate; a few other people have experienced this, and it may be due to the antivirus.

Unfortunately, I ran into the same issue mentioned before, the camera wouldn’t move.

I tried restarting a few times, but it didn’t work on my end.
Just sharing in case it helps.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on our game as well if you get the chance.

Developer

Hey, thanks for the feedback!

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the camera. I’ve personally downloaded and tested the latest build on my end, and everything seems to be working as intended.

Since it’s working here, the issue might be related to your antivirus software or Windows Defender blocking some of the game files or scripts. You could try adding the game folder to your antivirus exclusions or running the game as an Administrator.

I'd really appreciate it if you could give that a shot and let me know if it helps. Looking forward to your thoughts once you get it running!

I must say it looks quite interesting, but I didn't really understand anything while playing. I just started walking, went into a room with some pools, got stuck in a pipe, then mashed my keyboard until I could find the crouch button, which is C. Then I went up some stairs and the game ended.

Props for the visuals, but unless I missed something, there isn't really much to do.

You’re absolutely right. This was our first experience with Unity, and we had to put everything together in just about 5 days as a team of two. Since our timeframe was so limited, we chose to prioritize the atmosphere and graphics, which unfortunately meant we couldn't implement more levels or creatures in time.

Also, there was actually a sign right by the pipe that says 'C to Crouch,' but it's easy to miss when you're stuck! Thanks for the feedback on the visuals—we really appreciate it.

So sorry! I was super sleep deprived when playing, I can't believe I missed that
