So, so cute! And some really, really fun game design. There's a lot of moments where the game choreographs its mechanics in a very natural way. Learning to really take advantage of saving the jump until the middle of a fall felt like a gamechanger, especially once I realized how many of the levels reward taking that movement. The combination of that + control over the light source + fall damage + the energy both being time and dependent on how much you extend the light source really just made the whole thing blend together so well. I also liked how it felt like I was able to information-gather a lot from failed runs. And the art is super cute---loved making the little guy shuffle back and forth, haha!
Slightly decreasing the time that the platforms stay still would definitely help keep things moving/make repeated runs feel a little smoother. I definitely get the tension of wanting to increase some tension from having to wait as the energy ticks down, but it definitely got tough at some points because of that (especially because, from the nature of the game, you can't see much in the meantime!) For QoL, I'd also remap the continue button to be the interact button on the level clear, rather than the restart button. These levels definitely do feel speedrunnable (and I'm tempted to do so haha), so maybe the restart button can be the default when replaying a level, but I did definitely restart a few levels on accident because of hitting the interact button a few too many times when finishing.
So much charm and life in the game---loved all of the death flavor texts. Great work, and thank you so much for sharing!
Wow! I'm really happy you thought so highly of our design. I wholeheartedly agree, that the platform movement needs to be paced better. We'll likely polish this up properly, and a lot of the feedback we received, especially on platforms, and remapping the key to move to the next level are definitely up there with the most important polish.
Thank you for playing our game and leaving such a thoughtful and constructive comment.
this is such a cute game! im obsessed with the art style of the game and the little story for it. the lightbulb player character moves pretty well and i liked the process with learning how to clear every stage. the flavor text for the death screens is really charming as well.
Thank you so much for playing and for the positive feedback! It's greatly appreciated!
This is such a cool idea! The only thing I would say is that I think the light range around the player should be a little larger. By the time I got to 5-5, it became difficult to see when the moving F capsule was nearby. Or at the very least, allow the moving F capsule to move closer to the player. Additionally, I think there should be a larger buffer room for the timing and range of pressing F to land inside of the capsule; the buffer room feels a little too small, which made it more difficult alongside the current light range. Overall, this is such a cool game and a great idea!
Pressing E let's you extend the range of the lighted area. But be careful, it drains energy. Catching the Sockets, or capsule, as you said, is a bit finicky. It definitely could use a little fine tuning. Thank you for playing and leaving feedback!
Nice work! Cute lightbulb and great soundtrack!
Thanks for playing and the compliment!
I didn't reach the End but I wish you could endlessly pet the cats there.
That's a game right there! :D
I had a bug when playing where I wouldn't start the game on the menu after pressing the f key no matter if I loaded in fullscreen or not.
That's really odd. which browser are you using? Are you sure that you only activated full screen after splash screen is over? Sad to hear you couldn't play at all. :(
tried again and I got it working, but had to press it a few times for some reason. overall I had a good time with the game and I liked that it included tutorial levels so I could easily understand how to play
Great platformer game! i wished if the player could have some upgrades like double jump or a dash but over all it was fun.
Having unlockable upgrades does sound fun. :) Thank you for playing and leaving some input.
Great idea to combine socket-based scouting with a time limit system! However, because the character's vision is still quite narrow, it's hard to tell when a platform is moving far away. Adding visual cues like conveyor belts in the background would make it much easier for players to understand their surroundings. Adorable cats, and my heart skipped a beat when the lightbulb broke. Such a fun experience!
I 100% agree! We had background assets ready to go, but we ran out of time, so there's only a few levels using a handful of background assets, which could have helped navigate the level. Thank you so much for your time and your feedback! It's greatly appreciated. :)
And is it inspired a little bit by Chibi Robo ?
I don't think any of us drew inspiration from that, but I do see the same vibe. Who knows, maybe one of my fellow devs have played it. :)
The Cake is a Pie indeed ! A good little plateformer ! kinda hard but fair ! Nice Job !
Thanks! I really appreciate the time and kind words. :)
it would have been cooler since the character is a light bulb, that the platform activated once you get on them or when pressing a button, that way i can go with my own rithm and not be waiting for the platform to arrive. also it is important for platformers to always see were you will fall specially if it at the end of the level. another thing you should add is something to mark the path of a platform so when the platform isn't there you can tell there will be there in some time and its not just some empty space. another thing don't add a vent that sends me to the past level even less if it is from the start.
On the good side my favorite level was the one where there are many sockets and you jump from socket to socket quickly
Thanks for playing! And thanks for your feedback. marking the path of platforms in some way is a good point. We sadly ran out of time to place some background elements that would have helped navigate levels a bit (as well as tutorial text in the first five levels.)
Fun game, I collected four of the five cats! I will say it did get a bit tedious at times waiting for all the moving platforms, and there were a couple issues with collision where I'd get teleported a little when jumping into a moving platform or ceiling, but overall it was fun!
I agree. Platforms definitely need some speeding up. There was some jank we'd liked to have polished up and some we're glad made it in (like drop jumps. where you can jump after walking off of platforms or dropping out of sockets.) Thanks a bunch for giving it a play! :)
Awesome game! I don't get the theme interpertation, but the gameplay is pretty fun with a fun gimick. I fell through the wall at the end of level 4-2 behind the exit hatch, and couldn't figurte out how to reset, but it was fun till then lol!
Thanks a bunch for playing! We went with a pun on Hugs and Kisses and made it Hugs and Kittens. Bottom line, we landed on a game about saving kittens for a friend. :D
