Hi Light-a-Leo!,
Not sure if you checked your email, but you should have received one from itch/our jam. We have some prizes available for the jam participants, so make sure to claim a game key if you’d like one. Make sure to take a look and fill it as soon as possible!
Hello it's a good creepy game
I hope to compleat it but unfortunately I am facing a critical bug in the game
I am on night 5 at some point in the night 2 monsters will come one from the frunt and one from the left
they don't go away so the rathe kills me because I can't listen to the radio
I hope that you fix this problem so that I can compleat your grate game
thanks for creating this and have a nice day.
This game is amazing! The audio design and sound effects are so good and are the perfect amount of creepy! I love the gameplay and found this super easy to pick up as a blind player. The premise of this game is phenomenal and you definitely have a clear vision. Would love to see what else you are able to do with this game and how it will evolve with more time.
Great horror entry with a clear vision! It's very easy to see what you're going for, and also easy to imagine how the game could continue to change and evolve over time in new levels.
I would love to get further in the game, but I'm having issues with the windows and I can't tell if I'm hitting bugs or just don't fully understand the mechanics. The tutorial mentioned that while windows are closed, they should shake every few seconds to remind me that they're closed, but I've never heard that happen. It seems like I'm able to close both windows simultaneously, and as long as I'm quick enough, I can successfully open them both back up independently. But if I close them both and wait a bit, when I go to open them back up, it turns out they've opened at some point without me realizing it, so I just close them again. Or maybe I'm only ever closing them, but one of the "close window" sound effects actually sounds like the window is opening instead and leading to my confusion. This keeps leading to monster deaths on windows that I know I've shut, so I was curious if they only stay shut for a few seconds and then open back up automatically, or if changing my focus releases all windows without me realizing it. If there are conditions that cause windows to open back up on their own, it would be great to play the "open window" sound effects so that I know exactly when this is happening.
Does soothing your sister speed up the night progression, or is that mechanic used for something else in later levels? It would be great if there were a way to quickly check on how far into the night you were, like FNAF's clocks.
Great premise, and I hope you keep working on it!
Great submission!
I’ve mentioned in previous horror submissions to this jam that I’m a total weenie, and this is the perfect amount of unsettling to make me quit right away! The ambiance and sound effects and premise really drew me in—otherwise what’s the big deal about some random horror game?
I appreciate the option to normalize the sounds that I refuse to hear. My only suggestion so far is to add an option to adjust the speech rate, because the default was far too slow for my liking.
To be truthful, I’m about to watch PG13 play this here and hope they get further than me, so that I can leave my fairest rating. (I sincerely hope this reads as a compliment!)
The stab sound is so cool! And I love how the second night iterates on the design with new mechanics, as if it’s an entirely different game.
Thanks for the feedback, it's really appreaciated! I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere 🙂
Hi! Would you play this with me while I stream so I can avoid horror jumpscares? I don’t like horror games, they are very scary. Knowing I have a living trigger warner helping me would help me have the bravery to try it.
I'd love to, but I don't know how I could predict them either haha 😅
I did include the setting to normalize jumpscare sounds so it isn't louder than the other sfx, but that doesn't make them less sudden 😅
When is the stream planned for? Maybe I can figure something out in time?
Typically in weekday afternoons, so either tomorrow, thursday or friday, Lisbon time. You know, that’d be an excellent accessibility feature: an option to offer trigger warnings a few steps before a jumpscare. For example, if a jumpscare comes when you enter the vent, inform me, when I’m approaching the vent, that this jumpscare will happen. This would pause the game and not come as a jumpscare in itself of course. But maybe it could say “Jumpscare when you enter the vent”. Or: if it’s like, a monster approaching at random, you code that there is a 10 second delay before the moment he is “spawned” in the code and the moment we actually hear it. This is when you pause the game to warn us - those of us with the jumpscare warning setting activated.
That would be an interesting setting.
Hii, sorry it took me long to report back on this 😅
I pushed an update today with an option to disable jumpscares altogether. You can still hear the attacks but with a "heads up" sound instead of a loud and sudden creaming symphony haha.
If the update is not too late for it, I'd love to watch your stream!
Wow, that’s so nice of you! Thank you very much!
Honestly that’s so cool that horror game creators are open to these adjustments. It’s a thumbs up from me for sure.
I don’t think I’ll be streaming the game during the rating period, but maybe I can try a stream after? I’m focusing on playing for myself because I always end up talking a lot during the streams to give feedback. Which is great for the devs, but then I can only play 2-3 games and then I’m exhausted.
I HATE IT.
Because horror games give me anxiety and dread, so 10/10 execution, never playing it again.
Thank you for the awesome entry, great quality and awesome use of limited mechanics. I lulled when the voice mentioned that we were just packing heat. Not what I was expecting.
The build up and music choices were really great. The voice recording at the beginning was also really cool and helped to build suspense.
The game itself was a bit confusing though. I unfortunately couldn't make it through night 1.
EDIT: I got to night 2! And the only thing that I get confused about is the one on the right. Whenever I focus on the right, I don't hear anything. I'll give it a few more tries later, but this is the only thing holding me back because I don't know if something's actually there.
I'd hear footsteps, focus over there, and nothing's there. I was able to shoot sometimes, but I'm wondering if it's always in the middle.
The gun is ONLY for the right side, correct? Or is it for when I hear something on the left or middle, I open the window and shoot?
I also am frantically flipping through frequencies but didn't hear anything as of yet. This is probably all user error, but I think the gun mechanic could be a bit clearer. Otherwise, it's good!
The fact I have to hold E to sooth her really adds tension to it.
I say keep working on it.
Hi, this is a cool game!
I'm having a problem on night 3, though. Multiple times now, I have been getting killed by a wraith I didn't know was there. I kill one, then 5 or so seconds later, I'll get killed by a second one from a different direction.
Sometimes, I'll be listening to one of the wraiths finish his countdown, and I'll hear, "7, 6, 5, I'm right in front of you." So I'll shoot in front, then I'll be killed by what I assume to be the other wraith, which still had a few seconds left. I'm hoping that made some sense!
In any case, I really love the concept of the game. I gotta admit, I actually feel bad for not being able to save my little sister!
Hi, thanks for letting me know. If I say the Wraith canonically can't count does that make the bug into a feature? 😅
I'm kidding. I have fixed that bug and a few others I found in the meantime. Thanks for trying my game! 🙂
That would be a very interesting feature, actually.
I can't play it because I don't have windows, That's fine but please let people know what platform you support and how large the file is. I can't see it's for windows or the size of the file, so I download half a gigabyte and then have to delete it again :). You can indicate this in the itch game settings!
Oh, my bad😅 Thanks for letting me know
