Ranked from 162 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
It fits the theme because the game takes place in strange shifting dimensions where the world changes between 2D and 3D. This creates places that do not behave normally and would feel confusing and unusual to exist in. It is also strange from the character’s perspective, since the square is moving through and discovering these unfamiliar dimensions for the first time.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All assets were made by us, expect for the tesseract. Music was made in house, all assets and all code was written by us.

How many people worked on the game?
4

Nice! A very good 2D/3D platformer game!

Fun as hell and I love the mix of 2d and 3d! Got stuck on one puzzle but overall enjoy it!

Loved it! The swapping between 2D and 3D was so cool, and the puzzles were quite enjoyable.

Really my only critique is that when you're in 3D it's very hard to line up on certain platforms, especially diagonal stairs - some sort of shadow would help!

This was a interesting game. First off: The Audio and Visuals were really good (although the bright cyan colour was a bit too intense for me ;D). I like the idea of a puzzle platformer where you have to switch between 3D and 2D, it fits the theme well!

The biggest weakness of the game is I think the Level Design and some of the mechanics. It feels weird how there are sometimes some elements of the level just to confuse you? Also, the box presses button mechanic was good but felt clumsy, because if the box is all against the wall you can't pull it to you resulting in restarting the level, annoying! Also, it was confusing that if you're in the end of the level, you sometimes don't get teleported to the next area easily and have to move in the third dimension to reach the goal?
Although, to be honest, Puzzle Platformers aren't my favorite genre, it was still entertaining and I had a few "Ah, now I get it" moments, which were great!

finally a proper 2D/3D platformer puzzle game !!!

This is superb work.

I've seen quite a few people have a go at this kind of 2D/3D mechanic over the last few years but I've never seen it implemented cleanly before. The first level where you have to engage with the 3D is great - super well timed "oh shit" moment when you realise the staircase moves diagonally.

The gravity mechanic with the walls is also cleanly done, although I would probably have made that toggleable by the player. I can see a lot of potential puzzles and platforming gauntlets that would require the player to move in 3D and rotate the level whilst moving.

I would say ignore everyone that said a tutorial is necessary here. I think with this kind of game the joy is in the discovery. The fact it's minimalistic is part of it's charm. With more levels you could compound on the ways the two mechanics interact with each other and have a lot more epiphany moments. Telling the player how to solve the puzzle would ruin it, I think.

Visuals are very nice. Clean, bold, and readable - perfect for a jam entry.

The main point of criticism for me is the player controller. Feels a bit floaty. If the jump curve was a bit tighter and heavier and the character model did the whole "stretch and compress" thing it would feel a lot jucier. Can't mark you down for it though as this game has so much going on mechanically already :D

I know it would possibly make the 3D less interesting, but perhaps it would be better if the 3D camera angle wasn't controllable. Maybe you hit shift and them camera spins automatically to show an isometric angle in the direction the character is facing.

Definitely one of the best entries I've played this jam.

Really great puzzle plattformer. For future development I would consider to tweak the puzzle difficulty and add some hints or points of interest to direct the player into the correct solution. I am not a puzzle plattformer gamer and therefor got stuck in the purple level. Overall I had a ton of fun playing around with the 2d/3d mechanic!

It's really cool that it can turn into 2D and 3D. It's really a creative platformer. Great work :)

Wow, this was simply one of the best games in this jam! Enjoyed it quite a lot. Also, loved the minimal aesthetic and color scheme of the game. Great work!

Wow, really cool! Amazing job!

Having a platformer in 2D and 3D is really cool and creative! It's a great game!

Super creative game! I loved the platforming, it felt very forgiving (i'm normally bad at platforming haha). The switching mechanic was really cool and unique. Good Job :)

Very creative! You came up with a unique idea, and the whole 2D - 3D switching is implemented well. The puzzles introduced every single concept in a great way. Only thing that could be improved imo is the platforming in the 3D sections. It sometimes was hard to tell how much cubey will move backwards, adding a shadow could maybe help. All in all, great game!

This is a pretty solid puzzle platformer! I thought it was really cool when I realized I could shift into 3D space.

Great job!

Really like the artsyle for this game and i got stuck on the level with two boxes but i've enjoyed my time playing this game.

Very fun and creative game. It's very polished so I don't have much to say. I found skips for quite a few levels, which isn't even a bad thing, in fact it might be good. It makes the game fun for speed running if someone wants to do that. I couldn't figure out the real solution for the last level but beat it with cheese. I only realized on level three that you have to press shift to open the 3rd dimension, must have missed it. I was confused and thought I broke the game.

the visuals are nice too. Good job with this game.

Developer

Thanks!!!! I think you mean level 4, the green level, thats where you gotta switch to 3d to solve the puzzle :D But yeah, we really should made a tutorial level or something or add a text showing the mechanic that could be used for introduction, our bad, didnt have time LMAO, maybe in post jam!

Really nice mechanic!

Quite an interesting game you have here! I like the clean and stylish visuals. The 2D/3D switching is something I didn’t see before, and I would say it opens a new dimension for puzzle building :) And together with the rotation, it kind of blows your mind.

The game really makes you think. And that’s good. Maybe some levels were a bit too challenging for a jam game, but that’s just my personal preference. Well done!
