I think I've become addicted to baking cupcakes. xD

Amazing game, lovely pixel art. It's a bit confusing at first, with the mouse controls, but once you get the hang of it, it's super fun. I've found a weird bug: you can left-click  a cupcake (I think it only happens with the one in top left) to take it  out of the mold and decore it, but you cannot serve it to the customer and also it's like parented to the mold, if you move the mold, the cupcake moves in relation to it.

Oh, and the NPC's dialogues are very hard to read,  the result window pops on top of the dialogue box  and the dialogue immediately disappears when closing the result window.

Other than that, awesome game. Super polished and in-depth cooking mechanics. Can't wait to see what's added in part 2!

The art is lovely and I especially had fun with the frosting (sorry to whoever has to clean this kitchen)

Like others, I was confused about the controls, but it looks like you're already handling that!

Developer

Thanks! and yes we are!

Submitted(+1)

wow that's almost perfect! I only wish so there would be a hint in-game about it's controls and awesome cooking book!

Developer

Shift brings up a book! Will be adding tool tips and a tutorial in round 2! Thanks for playing!

I made a mess in the kitchen, AGAIN! in game this time! 5/5 for the realism! Can I have an easy mode please:)

Developer

Thanks! I am adding tutorial, thats on the list of stuff to add after bug fixes! As well as hover text to help you know what you're hovering.

This game feels really polished, which is crazy for a week of work! The art is super cute and the entire vibe is super cozy! I couldnt really figure out how to switch the colours of the frosting, so it would really be helpful to add that into the instructions below the game (the solution was probably right in front of my eyes the whole time tbf)

Developer(+1)

Theres is instructions below the game! But will be adding a tutorial and more qol stuff in game to help teach / understand the game. Didn't have enough time to add as much player feedback and instructions as I'd like!

Wow! This game is so complete!

I like the little details like opening the drawers and the small steps. I also like the “lack” of pressure and to take my time to do whatever.

I would like small tooltips about what I’m hovering with the mouse, because I’m so bad at this, I didn’t know what were many things until I messed up.

Also, despite that the ingame tutorial is very complete, it doesn’t explain how to change the frosting color and it took me a while to realize even by reading the controls on the webpage (yeah, fast reading is bad)

I also noticed that using the number keys (like 1, 2, 3..) goes to a specific place on the screen, like a shortcut.

Overall, I see great potential in this game!

PD> Anything with matcha is always better!

Thanks for checking it out! And yes will be adding hover text, a tutorial, and bunch of other qol features for round 2.

First off amazingly well done art, each customer oozes personality its all so good! the game play itself is satisfying and and fun! I think this game would really really benift from a full screen version i felt like it was hard to see on the html version! two things of note, sometimes clicking on items to use them didn’t work, i think its just because maybe the are to click was to small or off a bit, i really struggled to get the cupcakes out of the mold. and secondly my frosting did not want to stay on the cupcakes. But overall amazing game, i can totally see myself getting sucked in and playing for hours!!

Developer(+1)

Omg thanks! Yes the hitboxes will be fixed! There should be a fullscreen button, built into it, its the little white box it the corner. 0

Whoops cant believe i missed that >.> thank you!

Beautiful art! Beautiful game! A bit buggy and man, there's a lot of steps to making 4 muffins! XD

Love the concept. would love to see a fixed version!

(I did not manage to frost the cupcakes, and I burnt them)

Developer

Thanks! Given the theme as well as wanted a slightly more true life game, we focused on the little details! Thanks!

I really liked your game,I found it really fun!

However, I noticed a few issues while playing. Sometimes the things I clicked on didn’t respond. I think some of the items might have hitboxes that are too small, which makes them a bit hard to click.

I also found a bug with the frosting, sometimes it just didn’t stay on the cupcakes.

Another thing I noticed is that occasionally the customers didn’t react when I gave them a perfect cupcake. The cupcake just stayed floating in the air instead of being taken. I think if you fix the bugs the game would be as some say “Crème de la crème” :)

Edit: Forgot to say!! The art is amazing and I love that every time you start another character meets you, amazing attention to details!

Also some text above the toppings showing up when you hover over to indicate what is what will be helpful IMO

The floating cupcake

Thanks for checking it out! Yes those all things we wanna fix for round 2!

The art is so cute! And there's so much of it!

I did have a bit of trouble getting stuff to go into a bowl, and sometimes I'd pick up a cupcake and the frosting would be left on the counter, but I did have a lot of fun.

Thanks for the fun game!

This game is so precious visually, and I found the more I played the more I wanted to continue playing. I saw a lot of people already commenting on a few bugs and some difficulty with the learning curve, so I'm not going to point out everything, but two most frustrating little bugs that happened during my playthrough:
- I could not change the color of the frosting no matter what I did? I don't know if it is a bug or just a feature that was not implemented yet, I haven't found any mention of it in the comments? Maybe I missed something.
- Secondly, I sometimes ended up not being able to deliver a cupcake. I checked the order multiple times and all seems in order, but no matter where on the counter or on the client I drop it it doesn't let me deliver it.
I hope the game can be polished up so I can replay it after the second part, it ha so much potential.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for check it out! While the frosting is equipped, q and e changes the colors, scroll wheel to change the size! Second bug seems to happen when you  add frosting while in the pan, not in entirely sure but is something I will fix!

ok, so my first experience with this game was amazement at the beautiful art then immediate extreme confusion. i had to get out of the game and read the game page to figure out anything at all. but then, i started having fun, i was going through the steps, the pick up and interact mechanics are a bit weird to get used to but i managed to do it, i was going smoothly through the whole process making the cupcakes, i then was doing the finishing touches, putting frosting on the cupcakes and woooops, as it turns out i was putting frosting on only one of the cupcakes?? and there is now other blobs of floating frosting in the air around it?? you should not be able to put frosting on the air first of all, second of all, i dont know still how to do this part, am i supposed to do the frosting and toppings of one cupcake, sell it, and then move on to the next one? i know i've been complaining a lot in this comment, but its because this is one of the most complete and polished games i've seen in this jam yet, and it is a wonderful time to play, so i want it to be the best it can be. i will be waiting for phase 2 with this game, im sure it will be truly special then.

Thanks for the feed back! Team of two and six days didn't leave us much time to play test, but there are alot of known bug and qol changes we are going to add, and look at changing some of the interplay as well as add more more of tutorial to help people out. Pressing shift brings up a book in game that teach you alot, but unless you read that in the description you wouldn't know.

Hi!!

The title IMMEDIATELY caught my eye; I adore the premise (it's giving Ao3); and I love, love, cooking and baking games (Papas Bakeria veteran here). As excited as I was, I ran into a lot of bugs that made it hard to complete even a single order. I refreshed the page 3 times, started over, but ran into other issues.

For example, after being done, I would try to pick up the cupcakes, but instead I would pick up all the frosting and ONE cupcake and put it on the counter (doodled below). Another time, I moved the tray and a blueberry by clicking only on the tray.

Sometimes the order of images would get messy, for example, the bowl would be in front of the mixer.  I also got stuck and couldn't add the chocolate powder to the batter, no matter what I did.

Recommendations:

- I was a little confused before I read the instructions on the itch page. I think adding labels to elements or guide/hints would definitely help. Think the  drawers "candy" "peanut" etc. + the fact that you have to put the cupcakes on the counter to delive

- The frosting bottle would disappear when you right-click to use it, which made it look like a bug, but that's just what happens when you equip it. I'd recommend keeping it visible to avoid confusion!

- I'm a fan of (first pick up the item by left click and THEN use it by right click), but this is personal preference.

Overall, I can't wait for the second part of the jam because this game legit has the potential to win. The concept is so fun, the art is adorable, and the idea is, too! Great work! I wanna play the finished game so bad!
