I liked the rain visuals, but the lightning strikes felt random. I tried grabbing before and after a kite, and once i got zapped just in the middle of nothing.

Developer

Thanks for playing! And thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback! The lightning is indeed NOT random but based on certain objects. One way that I've seen "in the middle of nothing" to happen is sometimes bushes spawn in a way that covers a bench, but I thought this was too funny to balance.

Nice atmosphere, and I like the idea of "lightning in a bottle". That being said, the gameplay didn't really click with me. There were never enough visual cues to get it reliably, so I kinda just had to get the vibe, and there wasn't any intuitive connection between objects and time.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I appreciate the feedback. There is a "How to Play" button on the menu screen that kind of alludes to what triggers the lightning, and I felt that outright saying the exact things would be a bit too easy, but I have seen a lot of comments on this so I think it is fair to have something a little more clearer.

Great idea! But it took me quite a while to find out when lightning will hit, so if you continue developing this, I think you should guide the player a little bit more.

Fun, a little bit hard to understand.

Nice game! It was fun, but was a little had since I didn't know when the lightning was coming. Overall though, it was good!

Nice atmosphere and weather effects! Blocking/bottling the lightning DID feel very satisfying, but i was never able to grasp the trick to it, so it always felt like i just got lucky.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Can I ask what your resolution is? I see the things got offset and I probably forgot to account for that.

Once I got the hang of it I enjoyed it. My highscore is linked below.

This is one of those games where I noticed the direction, but I think it could have absolutely done a lot more.

The game overall was quite frustrating. There are indicators, such as the metal poles or the kites. Those are great additions to show for the danger. However, the timing even then was extremely hard to predict, and I had to end up mashing to even get a single thunderbolt to land. The bushes also caught me off guard, and so did when the player gets randomly struck by lightning as well.

Though, the atmosphere is nice, and the gameplay direction is creative. I was hoping for more of a "fair" game, but this sadly does not bring mercy to the player with the repeated strikes. Thunder strikes are unpredictable? Maybe they won't ever strike twice in the same spot. Those were what I'd assume would be what I faced up against.

Overall rating, I'll put this at a 4/10. But please don't be discouraged! Even as a stranger, I know you can make even better games with more time and experience. Keep making new things, and you'll see the improvements along the way.

Good job for submitting the game!

Thanks for playing the game! I appreciate the thorough feedback. I will say though that the lightning is not actually random. I did intend for it to be a little difficult as I wanted to catch people off guard, but I would say it is "fair" once you notice the pattern. A hint I will say (and it technically says this if you click the "how to play" in start screen) but the items you mentioned all have different timings, so the goal is to figure that out. I realize I could have pointed that out a little more clearly but where's the fun in that.

Also funny game design peek behind the curtain but actually the lightning always strikes your position. If you have the jar out then it goes to it and you get points, if not it strikes the other side and you lose a life.

I agree that figuring out that there is a pattern to begin with is not well communicated but I thought it would be too easy if I pointed out the exact timings.

I liked the overall vibe and rain effect, sadly I really struggled with the timing. Good theme adaptation!
