i have been tricked into learning new abilities and expanding my horizons in the realm of mathematics :(
Hah! Welcome to the realm of education :D
Thank you for giving it a try!
For a game jam, this is the most informative tutorial ever. The game really turned a hard topic into an engaging one. Quizzes were so shocking, tension raised every time when needed to answer byte length binaries.
Hah! Thank you for your comments.
I do wish I could implement more of a "shocking" theme towards the game, but I continued to make it more towards an educational-style game.
Thank you for trying it out regardless!
I actually loved this, and did not expect to because I hate math. However, you made it approachable and fun to work through. A very original idea, and well executed. I love it. Great job!
That was a scary read LOL. I'm glad that you enjoyed the game, even though it was math-intensive :)
Regardless, thank you for your feedback!
this is probably the most original game in this jam!! i didnt expected any of this!! it was surprisingly calm and i HOPE that i learned how to read binary code now.. i'll proably play it again to understand it better, the voice acting was also a peculiar choice and i liked the art as well! for an education game, its good!
Thank you for those comments. I hope you enjoyed learning a new skill!
I was quite split between educational and an actual game, so I did my best to blend them both.
you really nerd sniped me with this one!
i love the artstyle, it's super cute and you're explaining it pretty well, though i think it might be helpful to include decimal analogies, e.g. in decimal each digit increases by 10x, which is why there are 10 digits (0-9), while in binary it increases by 2x, which is why we only need 0 and 1
in the binary practice section i got the same numbers, like 1111, or even just 1 repeatedly a few times in a row, which might make it seem like it's broken, i also got that occasionally in the levels but not as often
i couldn't buy a drink the first time for some reason? even though i had enough
it's nice for education, but it does get pretty repetitive as a game, if you want to expand on this, i think it could be cool to do more programming related binary things, like boolean logic, bitwise operations, etc. maybe even encodings like ASCII or UTF-8 (though don't make people remember the codepoints haha)
That's amazing to hear! I was considering the decimal analogies, but I was just not sure how I could format it.
I also am aware of that repeated bug, which I thought would be fixed, but I guess I didn't execute it correctly... And sorry about not being able to purchase a drink.
Thank you for your suggestions and detailed opinion! Much love to you, binary lover.
Cool education tool, but not that fun as a game, because it gets very complex very fast, but nice idea!
Glad you gave it a shot. Thank you for playing!
I showed this to my friends on university, they're thinking to translate it to our language and show to your teachers! I love this education game. Even tho I got only pass the tutorial, I really learned more about binary and in a really fun and challenge way. Great job bro!
Also some bugs I found during gameplay: on the step where you have to answer Yes or No, the game is case sensitive so if you write "yes" in lowercase, the game may softlock you, I don't know if on windows / linux builds this will work but on the web version this caused a softlock.
That is very heartwarming to hear. Thank you for learning along with Simon!
I am not at all aware of the softlock on the text, but thank you for bringing my attention to that. And thank you for your feedeback!
Nice education tool!
I only managed to get through 2 days before I felt like I was actually "working" and my brain checked out. Knowing binary and being able to quickly sum powers of two helps a lot.
I loved the voice acting and the tutorial section!
Good game!
Also please play my game! <3
Glad you enjoyed, and thank you for the feedback!
Honestly, I thought the idea was really fun. Great tutorial and voice acting. I made it through a few levels, but my brain was already tired, so I ended up stopping. Still, it’s a great game, congratulations on your work!
Thank you sir!
Nice artwork, and a topic I am fairly well versed in. Didn’t see the message about not clicking the music box in the web build until after I clicked it. My bad for not reading. I liked the way you taught binary as I’m sure those who didn’t know beforehand know well now.
Great job.
Hah, yeah. The boombox actually made some websites go "Boom" as well, which I cannot reason why it's broken.
And for someone who's experienced in binary too, I'm glad to hear that I taught it well. Hope you enjoyed the game, and thank you for your feedback!
I wanted to listen to some tunes, but clicking the radio froze the game for me. Luckily I played enough in the practice round to have my fill and i was pretty satisfied with my experience already. (Honestly I wasn't really looking forward to "time to work" when the real game began)
although I didn't want to continue after 5 minutes, the game was presented very nicely and i enjoyed it!
nice atmosphere, relaxing, and well presented topic! A good edu-tainment type of game with an interesting clean art style. I could see this as a fun homework assignment in middleschool/highschool. Well done!
That's relieving to hear! I did focus on half being a teaching aspect, and another half being a "homework" type of section. I'm sorry about your experience for the boombox, but I could not figure it out for a good while, haha.
Thank you for your feedback!
