The player themselves is the evil from which others cannot be saved, all will be risen into undeath. Mechanically, there's also the corpses themselves which are a disappearing resource which you have to rush around to "save" and raise into your legion

Anything else you'd like to share about your game or development process?
Solo jam: I wanted to experiment with roguelike upgrades and modifiers, some elements of buildcrafting, as well as simple 3D graphics. And capture some of the fantasy of army management without a full-on RTS

This was a lot of fun! I tried a few strategies, I like the variety. My best was wave 38, but then the enemies wouldn’t die anymore. It was a poison dot build – which is pretty overpowered late game, I’d pop the whole wave instantly. Maybe some sort of overflow?

I didn’t mind the balls so much, except the flesh golems looked like enemies so I was always running from them.

It’s fun to have an army running around with you – It’s a great spin on just collecting money/gems from the enemies.

Great game! The gameplay loop is simple yet satisfying and nothing seems to complicated or hard to understand.

I'm not going to beat a dead horse but there is room to improve visually but with all of the VFX in the game, I think it helps it from looking totally boring so that's definitely a plus.

I think the audio mixing could use a little bit of work, I think the music is a too overpowering in contrast to all the other audio, so maybe have that tweaked or even options for audio in general could be great! (I know that is asking a lot for a game jam but just throwing it out there.) I did rather enjoy the music, it was really good, I just think it could be a tad quieter.

I do like how you tried to think outside the box with the theme but I do think it kinda strays a bit too far, where it's striving for a different thing entirely, but I always love trying to think of unique takes on the theming so I won't be too harsh on you there. All in all I really had a good time with this entry and you did a great job!

This was fun to play! Idk why, after wave 17 or 18 the game was lagging so much, then the waves appeared as finished even if not all the enemies were killed.  I was on such a good run :( The game has a very big potential. GOOD JOB!

Developer

yes I think this is due to the target finding with all of the entities, I made a fix and I'll upload it once the rating period is over! hopefully that performance should hold on for much later waves. thank you for you playing!

My best run! 25 waves, in 10:24, enemies slain: 1993, Skeletons: 1108, Mages: 308, Hulks: 206

Ok- firstly- the game is fun enough to do multiple runs. The sight of your dudes massacring the enemies is really good. The "calcium supplements" as a powerup for skeletons is a funny idea. It's intense and hella fun! I loved playing it!

The sound was great- sound effects were crisp, and the music complemented the massacre (not a sentence you write everyday).

As for the graphics. I have what you might call a cognitive dissonance. From one side- the screen space effects, post processing, particles, explosions... Those are all very well made. From the other hand... those are all balls! There's a number of people that will look over your game, because they'll look at the thumbnail, and say "meh, balls...". They will, of course, loose out on a great game, but hell, I wrote "your graphics could use some more detail" in comments for a couple of games in this jam. Seriously- your graphics could use some more detail! If you're not a graphics guy- find one and collaborate! I do!

Btw- last year there was a "limited shapes" edition of goed jam. This game would absolutely rule there :)

Theme wise- I didn't really feel this game was about saving anyone. Sure, I couldn't save them all, but it never bothered me- the game was about raising hell, not saving anything!

Over all- gameplay wise this is one of the best games in this jam. Could use some more focus on the graphics and theme.

Developer

thank you for your kind and detailed feedback! yes, I could definitely benefit from a partner on graphics. I'm also going to learn 3D modeling myself so I can go beyond spheres for the future, this was sort of my first experiment in a solo 3D jam. I agree it's the most lacking area, was just trying to pick the right corners to cut with time limitations. but I'm glad the gameplay/replayability landed!

Really fun and hectic

Developer

thank you!

very polished game with really really good feedback with kills and visuals, fun to raise an army and turn the tide of combat >:3 we sorta did similar things with very abstract character designs with meaning added onto them

the only downside of this game is its quite heavy to run, i couldnt run it on Chrome but Firefox worked fine up until like wave 18 which im pretty sure is basically the endpoint anyway

very cool cohesive style thoughout, definite vampire survivors inspiration

Developer(+1)

thank you! yes I did some performance improvements since submitting, once we're out of the ratings period I'll re-upload. I was trying to push how many units/enemies I could have on screen. yes we both made the most of spheres and cubes!

Fun survivors-like-ish game! Using dead enemies as troops is a cool mechanic, especially with the different types they can be. I did have an issue with visual feedback, since it often was hard to see which spheres were enemies and which were troops. Something as simple as clearer color coding (Like all enemies are warm colors, and all troops are cool colors) could improve this. In general though, solid job! Definitely an interesting concept to further develop.

Developer

yeah that's a good idea! was trying to achieve the most I could with simple visuals, but I think the clarity isn't quite there (also on the archer arrows for sure). thanks!

This game was so fun to play and the music was really nice to have in the background. The upgrades system was cool too! The graphics were simple yet effective and really nice to look at, great job!

Developer

thank you! yes I wanted to experiment with roguelike upgrade stuff for this one :-)

Fun take on a roguelike! the skeleton mechanic is cool also hulks op, however the game starts having frame issues at wave 9 probably due to pathfinding or physics and eventually died to wave17 my pc couldnt handle it anymore,  I'd recommend using Flow Fields or Dijkstra's Algorithm or things that shares pathing data to handle the npc movement :D
Developer

thank you for playing! there's no pathfinding, but yes I think it's the target scanning, I made a fix and I'll upload it once the rating period is over. I didn't cap the enemy amount for fun, but I also might cap it at something sane like a few hundred :^). there is already pooling going on behind the scenes to handle that level of enemies/projectiles
