The game was a nice choose your own adventure and some of the choices given were cool, the gameplay loop is simple but works well where it doesn't get stale. The music track isn't too great though it pauses in random moments and plays a tune that's not very intresting so not a big fan of it. Overall not to bad and good job!

Thank you so much for playing and for the honest feedback. I really appreciate it!

Totally agree on the music. I didn't have enough time during the jam to work on something more polished, so I focused on the mechanics and narrative instead. The random pauses you noticed are a known quirk of the Web Audio API scheduling. It's something I'd like to fix properly in an update. That's also part of why I added a mute button, so players who find it distracting can just turn it off and enjoy the game in silence.

Glad the gameplay loop worked for you though — keeping it simple but engaging was definitely the goal.

Thanks again for the thoughtful comment, and I'll make sure to address the audio in a future update!

The game is awesome.  It is similar to Reigns.
I like the narrative part. You should definitely keep working on it. With images it will be much better.

Developer

Thank you so much! Yes, Reigns was absolutely the inspiration. I love how much narrative weight it packs into a simple left/right mechanic.

That said, I wanted to push it further with some original ideas: the recruit system with evolution paths, a memory mechanic where past choices return as new cards, and especially the boss fight. instead of just more cards, it becomes a turn-based battle where your recruits and stats directly influence your attack power and damage reduction.

Images are definitely on the wishlist! Transform this game in a "book-style" visual, maybe.  I'm also considering future updates with multiple languages, new mechanics, and possibly a longer story arc with more boss encounters.

Really appreciate the kind words and the encouragement — means a lot!

I'm going to follow you on itch. I want to see where it's going.

I played a couple of rounds and really liked it! the legacy mechanic to keep some of your stat points after losing is a nice touch. I'm curious, which parts of the game were made by AI?

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! The legacy system was actually one of my favorite ideas to design.

To be transparent: I used Claude (Anthropic's AI) as my development partner. This project was partly a personal experiment to test AI tools in a real creative workflow,  understanding their capabilities, limits, and how far I could push a project without a traditional coding background.

The creative direction was mine:  Card narratives, the Void Herald's arc, the legacy and sacrifice systems, the recruitable classes, and the boss fight structure. For balance, we ran Monte Carlo simulations over 5,000 random playthroughs to validate stat pressure across all cards.

One thing that genuinely surprised me was Claude's ability to visualize its thinking as interactive infographics mid-conversation — it mapped out the entire boss system visually before writing a single line of code, which made the design process much clearer.

Think of it like a director working with a crew:  I knew what game I wanted to make, and used AI as the technical layer to bring that vision to life.

Thanks for playing and for the thoughtful question!

Swanky! Hard to progress, but piqued my curiosity. Good tunes and good vibes.
