This is a very polished game jam entry. It's professional. Well done.
I never really felt like I knew what I was doing by selecting a card in my hand during the dealing and betting.
I probably just didn't play it enough, but I also didn't feel like I was really playing Against anyone as much as playing against the odds and trying to just have a good hand.

Really great work, the artwork and polish are fantastic, everything feels and looks really good. I especially like the little face animations for the devil, wonderful detail. And the animations of his finger moving the cards around!

The cardgame is quite fun once I got into it too, though the tutorial felt quite long. I think I don't really see stealing as being that big a part of it, so the take on the theme remained a little obscure to me. And ultimately whilst the cards are negatives, it plays like most cardgames on pairing high cards together, so I don't know that it feels like a distinct mechanic.

But in any case it's a lovely entry, very well done!

Technically, the game looks flawless; the sound effects and background music are great, the demon's animations are also excellent, and the dynamics of the card interactions are fantastic. Everything looks incredible!

Unfortunately, I don't understand anything about basic card game mechanics, so it was very difficult for me to understand what was happening as the turns progressed.

At the end, I think I got the idea. You did a great job with the tutorials and written tips.

Congrats to the team, I think if you want to continue developing it further after the jam, you'll have great results!

The game flows really well. I’m not very familiar with card combinations, so instead of introducing them one by one in the tutorial, it might help to display them when choosing cards.

Great work all around, very well polished and fun!

Wow, really great entry! The game is fun, the graphics are great, and the sounds are nice :) Overall really good job. Thanks for making and sharing it!

The visuals. Wow. And the card sound is so satisfying!

Everything comes so well together and does not distract from the game. The vibe is well done!

Visually fantastic. Would have liked a button to speed the opponent's turn up

It’s a really lovely game, and the concept is brilliant. The game fits the jam’s theme perfectly, and card games are more popular than ever.

Really nice style and a cool but also challenging gameplay :)

Really cool art and sound effects! Also love how they would move really gave a lot of life. Expesially the dealing and selection effects. The chips having a pentagram was cool aswell. Straight out of cuphead core in a good way! The devil having his own card was also sweet. I do think as someone who doesn't play a lot of card games the onboarding was a little dense. But other then that the bet cycle was really nice! Also if you have time would be curious your thoughts on our entry, but keep up the great work!

I love it! And the visuals are super polished! My only problem was the tutorial, it was showing a lot of information too quickly for me to read (I’m not a native english speaker), so it was kinda hard to understand. But besides that, the game is really well done. Congrats on the entry! :D

I got completely amazed by how smooth everything was - though there were a couple confusing things, like what livsruss said about seeing acceptable hands, and I'd have liked if there wasn't a time limit on reading each section of the tutorial (I kept trying to read it over again to understand better, then it'd fade out). But those are really minor things, overall this game is great!

Developer(+2)

Yeah, the tutorial is quite scuffed. I did not leave enough time for it, and definitely should had the text be input based rather than time based. It will be the first thing I change when the jam is over

I'm glad you still had fun in the end!! Thank you for commenting! Your guys' game is my favourite I've played so far!

Super cool! Very fun that we both made similar games haha. I really liked it, and creative to make an original card game! Only troubles I had was I wish there was a menu popup somewhere that could tell me the acceptable hands during the actual game instead of just the tutorial. And also there seemed to be a glitch where the devil ran out of chips, but every round he'd somehow gain a couple chips to bet and go back to 0 again. Overall though super cool game and very fun!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!!

That is an amazing suggestion! And something I'll be sure to add when the jam is over!

I've added the hand types to the game description for now until I can add them proper

The devil betting while broke isn't a glitch as much as it is an oversight. Even if you, the player run out of chips mid-set, you can continue to bet, because the bet is always matched by both players. We set that up as a comeback system, so money continues to flow into the pot, and can swing the game if you win the set.

It's just the player is limited to betting 1 when they have no chips, whereas the devil can always choose 1, 2, or 3. So the chips you saw being thrown into the pot by the devil were actually your own

Oh cool thanks for the explanation!!

the devil boomed me.

Developer(+1)

Don't worry, the devil boomed us too when we were making him 😔

Yeah kudos for card game first off. Also the sliding animations made the transition for each phase really nice and solid. I like the card mechanics I was wondering when i was discarding the first time but once i got the learning curve down it was really fun and enjoyable. Marking this one as the one to win.

Thank you!! We had a blast toying around with all the tweening!

I absolutely could've done a better job explaining the rules, but I'm glad you figured it out and had fun!

definitely I'll be playing this again maybe roguelike more and more stuff could see something further develop for this game.
