Neat game! The electricity gauge felt a bit punishing and made the limited bullets mechanic entirely redundant though.

Got 1152 score iirc, forgot to take a screenshot of it.

It’s a SHMUP!

Good game. It gets boring after 2k points, tho, not much to say after that.

The sprites are ok, the music is ok. The constant change of speed is not very enjoyable… a stalling mechanic in a shmup feels so weird! Could use a blast button to discharge your electricity… or maybe a powerup that clears it?

Also, no variety. There’s what? 4 enemies? 5? and no powerups… Good for a jam, tho.

DEV HIGHSCORE :

Great arcade game! The controls feel simple and responsive, and the shooting sounds are really satisfying.

I did notice what seems like a cap of around 5 ships. Around the 3-minute mark, I was able to “lock in” one side of the map while the other side got crowded with ships that attack with multiple slow shots. At that point, the game became a bit dull because I got stuck in a loop of basically taking down one ship at a time with little difficulty, while the other area was basically impossible to step into. so I ended up letting myself die haha.

But I really enjoyed the game, it’s very polished and fun, great job!

Yes, I'm aware of the problem with the first enemy type. They don't move much. I should have made a global direction system, but I hadn't time to implement that.

Thanks for playing.

What a great game!! it somehow inspired me to make a thing.. but by the way, its a neat fun arcade gameplay!! maybe with the time passing through it could become hard to dodge all the bullets since we also have the overdrive mechanic, i noticed the little details like the "bouncy"spaceship when we shoot

Developer

Yes, the last days of the jam, I did much polish and added some juice to it !

Thanks for playing.

Fun game, I really liked the arcade style and the gameplay. It was fun, but kind of hard lot of slow bullets. That's a hard point of the game, but it was a really fun game. Remember my childhood.

Developer

Really happy lo liked it ! Thanks for playing.

I love this style of arcade games, I adore the different enemy types but I suck at them

This was so much more fun with the mechanics tweaked slightly when compared to earlier builds of the game! Given it's a bullet hell, I did find the the PC to be a little slow and the bullets to be a little too unpredictable which made gameplay a bit tougher than it could have been—especially considering I was also having to manage/prevent overcharging. You've got nice, clean visuals here and I think a little more UI polish would improve the experience as well.

Hi !

Yes, if I had some more time, I would have added some bars for the HUD instead of simple numbers.

Thanks for playing !

Developer

You have performance issues ?

That's what I hate with Web Builds : I had 12000 FPS in Local Debugger, and then Web export dropped them so hard.

I'll add object pooling system for bullets after the jam.

Pretty competent execution of a shmup! I'm not super sure what the purpose of the overcharge mechanic is, personally feels like it's a punishment for playing the game and killing enemies? Just could not wrap my head around it.

Hi.

Initially, electricity was buffing the player (it still does with speed). Then, it became a way to prevent the player from killing every spaceship, before they even shoot and to force him to dodge too (I had to limit it). Also a way to implement the theme (because I changed my plans, and noticed it didn't fit it enough at all). But yes, I can understand it can be annoying some of the players.

Thanks for playing !

Cool game! It was really fun with all that juice, and it felt very responsive!

Thanks for playing !

Give me my high score XD.
Simple but really fun game!!! It's a bit lacking in the theme implementation, but really polish and have well made mechanics.

Developer

Thanks for playing. GGs !

It's fun, but I don't understand the overload mechanic. Sometimes I have 8 electricity, kill another enemy, and I die. Sometimes I have 14, kill another enemy, and it stays at 14. I wish there was a progress bar that clearly shows when I need to stop hitting enemies to avoid death.

Developer

Hi !

It's true should have been more clear (i'll update the game page).

The maximum of electricity is 15 but, you are overcharged starting of 13 (when the electricity HUD starts blinking, and your ship have electric arcs). If you stay for 4 seconds in a overcharge state, you explodes. If you are already near to 15, killing other ennemies can't get you higher than 15.

I'll add a progress bar after the jam.

GGs for your highscore, the better one, except me :)

Thanks for playing

cool schmup! not the biggest fan of overload mechanics ( i hated the plasma rifles in Halo :P)

Developer

Yes, you don't know you will explode by overcharging first time.

GGs ! (you got added to leaderboard)

Thanks for playing !

Very clean art and UI. Only thing, the ship is a bit slow and clunky

Hi.

Can you tell me if the hitbox is better now ? I reduced its size.

About speed, the problem if it's too high is that it become hard to be precise to dodge bullets and survive. You can cycle kills to keep high electricity.

Thanks for Playing

Cool concept.

I think the ship is way too big, it's very hard to dodge bullets when the ship is bigger than the gaps between them.  It could also benefit with some leniency of "hitbox is much smaller than the sprite" to make the gameplay feel a little more fair.

Good game, funky music!

Developer

Hi.

Based on your comment, I reduced the ship's hitbox size, and also made some of the enemy bullets faster so they leave the screen faster and don't stay for too long on the screen. It should solve dodging problems.

Menu transitions works perfectly now, and I updated the Game Page. Happy you liked diamondjoyride's music.

I'll try your game when I've finished my queue.

Thanks for playing.
