How does your game fit the theme?
The game is about a small doll escaping its toybox to see the outside, hence, outside the box. It is not a creative premise.

The way this game looks is really impressive. You've got some really good pixel art, it's certainly better than what I could do. If you don't mind me saying, though, I think the wall jumping would have felt better if you used the keyboard_check_pressed function (or key pressed event) instead of what I assume you used, which is the keyboard_check function (or key down event). Still though, good work.
Thank you so much!!! I don't really do pixel art outside of games, but I've been learning a little just to make the presentation a bit better. I think you're absolutely right with the key press event, but early in development the only way I'd known to make it work was with a bunch of if statements and needlessly complex checks that I couldn't change so late when I actually learned the easier way. Thanks a lot for your response!
The Aesthetics and sfx, top notch, no complaints really, only real notes I have are that the platforming feels a little finnicky, and like sometimes I jump without having to press space, or that I kinda just wall hop without needing to press anything, additionally I dunno if I’m doing something wrong but the top down bullet-hell style part, it drags on for so long, considering enemies need like at least like 10-15 hits, having bullets spawn randomly around the map in packs of 3 feels a little like forced padding. Other then that, I really enjoy the vibe of it all! It looks awesome!
Thanks!! Yeah, platforming is rightfully a bit finnicky since it was the first section I'd done. Wall jumping especially took some work and is still quite buggy with the random wall hopping that comes from I think just walking into one while in air? Also, I didn't know that the shooter felt slow!! I think it's not said well, but you can actually hold down left click before shooting to do extra damage (normal clicking does 1, holding does 3). That way each small enemy takes 2 shots and the shooting ones take 3. Sorry if that wasn't made known!! Thank you for responding :)
I loved this games artstyle sooooo much; i found it soooo cute and the toy aesthetic was awesome. I will say i do feel like alot was being balanced here which makes gameplay feel fresh but make some mechanics feel half baked at times. Great game the only other criticism i have is the design language with the spikes in the platformer not being very noticeable or directly indicating damage. Great game overall artstyle and the ideas behind it was sooooooo peak.
Thank you so much!! The artsyle especially was something I wanted to do right, although it does sort of go out of the window at the third level. And, yeah, some mechanics are sort of half-done due to time. I could have made something in the platformer that communicated death a bit better, but it was all that I could come up with lol. Thank you so much for the reply regardless!!!
Yay it works now
Honestly I think it would've been better if you focused on 1 idea instead of doing 3 and barely fleshing out any of them
Yeah, I get that. The original intention was to repeat levels with increasing difficulty (I was originally planning one 3 longer platformer levels, some RPG levels and some arcade style levels, etc) but that was made with the thought that I'd have enough time to do that. Unfortunately, I didn't :( I basically had to rush most of the game because of school, and the game now is about 15% of what I wanted. I'll keep this in mind, though. Thank you for responding!!!
hey uhhh, the game has no download??? (attached a pic but idk if it's visible)
Oh! That's not right at all! I'll add it soon, I'm now sure how this happened. Great catch!!
It should hopefully be resolved now, thanks for telling me :
