Absolutely adorable visuals and audio. The writing is also very wholesome and funny. There is a lot of it as well which is a bold move in a jam game. On my very first playthrough, I accidentally pressed q and skipped a day and then wasn’t able to interact with the catterpillar and the spider. Also the marker and twig kept appearing again and again in the nest for some reason.
Yours is definitely a strong entry. Very fleshed out, cosy and sweet. Beautiful art style. Basically all that's already been said in the comments below.
Personally, I’m not much of a fan of cosy games or long flowery text. For an RPG, the text-heaviness-to-player-agency ratio was a bit too tilted towards text for my liking.
Though I might not be the target audience, I have to say: If not already, I hope your writer decides to do it professionally. You are truly talented / skilled. The way you give each character its own personality and manage to stick to it throughout the dialogues is prolific. Even through the richness of the text with those little flowery words, you deliberately give the forest its own character and sort of rythm. Magical.
Wonderful work from everybody involved!
Disco Elysium on mushrooms and without disco.
What a lovely adventure gem!
Nice story that makes you really want to get it to good ending, with cute lovely creatures. I felt joy when the starving larva became the happiest butterfly in the world, or when the bee got saved. I felt sorry for the snail, whom the tutorial forced me to (as)sa(u)lt. (I hope you will later add an option not to use a salt and make a friends with him.) Yes, the story is slightly naive, yes, the game is clearly directed to younger audience, but I take it.
The biggest points of this 48 hour jam game are:
I like other aspects too, such as idea, mechanics, sounds, music. I would never expect an adventure game to be that well made in a 48 hour game jam. On regular visits of the team, the team was well organized and dedicated to their story, yet they kept good mood. I hope that numerous bugs will get fixed soon. The game deserves it.
A beautiful game with a nice atmosphere and great visuals. The story is cute, but for me there was too much text with no information value. I know that the purpose is to give the characters a... character, but I guess it's not for me. The text was also a little hard to read sometimes - I would make it bigger and maybe choose a different font.
I'm very enthusiastic about biology and I think it would be really great if the game followed real facts and could also teach something about insects, fungus etc. - but I get it that it's hard to achieve this at Game Jam and that it's supposed to be more fairytale-like.
I think I have a skill issue since I have no idea how to complete all of the endings and it feels a little confusing... I couldn't find a stick or anythinig like it for example.
I love that you also have speedarts available, it's cool to see the proccess.
This one has, I think, the most elaborate story of all entries. And the FAFO is strong here. Apart from the story and art style I like the overall diversity of the scenes while they are still. Maybe one nitpick from my side would be to allow Myc to move a bit faster since the scenes are quite long :D.
Myc indeed is a slow walker... He likes to enjoy the surroundings as much as the players do, what can I say :D Joking... (We will look into it.)
Thank you so much for the review, and hopefully you enjoyed the elaborate story!
Story game of proportions (thought to be) impossible at a game jam.
There is a LOT to like about this game. The visuals are striking (they are godly) and the music works very well. The ingredients are creatively used but aren't jumping out (they don't feel forced). But then there is the story. A LOT of it.
I think that is what it will come down to. I personally LOVED it. The characters felt real and unique with their own (often bombastic) personalities. It all made sense and created a world that felt believable and creating relationships with NPC's, that ultimately help you, felt rewarding.
On the other hand if you are not a "reader", you might struggle with this one. There is A LOT of dialogue. I played it with a friend and we spent close to 2 hours in the game (we read - and voiceacted - everything). That is a commitment. The writing, although on a super high level, can drag and repeat itself a bit at times. Also after spending this amount of time in a game the music does start to feel a bit repetitive (but that's nitpicking now).
Overall a very impressive game where the biggest strengths might be its biggest weaknesses. And it just comes down to if you are willing to give it the time it deserves.
Very well done to the entire team!
Thank you so much for such an amazing review! The fact that you dived into the story so deeply and even voice-acted it kinda blew my mind. Thank you for showing our piece so much love! We tried to make the characters and the game as alive as possible, so I am glad it all went as planned!
On the other hand, we also knew that you – the player – would either love it or hate it, depending on whether you are a story game player or not. But we came to the conclusion that we will stick with the long story and make it its main strong point. Due to that, it unfortunately is not a game for just anybody. But... isn't that what can be said about all kinds of games? :D
The repetitiveness of the writing is sometimes what I wanted to do – especially for the pickups or meeting the same character several times. To enhance the feeling that it has already happened once, that your mind – and the hive – remembers and feels exactly the same, or even just some kind of déjà vu. But if it was bothering you at some point, we should look into it! :D
However, thank you so so much once again. We are glad you liked it so much!
Very nice game with beautiful visuals and music that fits the "foresty" vibe (not sure if I expressed myself properly :DD). I tried the game multiple times to get see the different endings (Spoilers ahead, do not read further if you want to explore the choices yourself). I did reach the raft, poison and the bad ending. Sadly I was not able to get the flower at all even with multiple iterations, as it seems like its bugged (or I did something wrong). I think you guys nailed the "something is different" part as something was always different in each iteration (it was also hard to reach an ending you wanted if you missed one thing from previous iteration because of that). Overall nice and cute story game. :D
Thank you so much for the review! We are glad you liked it and even reached different endings!
Unfortunately... we know about the bug with the flower :{ But do not worry, we are planning to make a patch and fix this and few other things those came around as bugged.

Cute art, I really like the characters and the cozy vibes. Sadly, I couldn't get one of the endings because, SPOILER, the flower never appeared in my inventory after the dialogue where I was supposed to receive it. Also, some of the missable dialogue options are time-locked in weird ways, for example the ants will NOT accept an egg from you on any day after day 2. I would've also appreciated a "run" button, because the mushroom walks really slow - which is fine on the first playthrough, but gets pretty annoying when trying to get every ending.
Thank you for playing! And all the feedback!
We know about the flower bug as it is also mentioned on the page. :{ We are planning to put out a patch, which should repair all the bugs we have found. The day lock options are actually by design, because of the borders it gives the player, but if it is too limiting we may think of a way how to change it!
Loved the characters, they are really cute, and the overall atmosphere with the music is very pleasant
Thank you! It was pretty hard to design everything on the first try because there wasn’t really time to explore different designs, but I tried to make them as cute as possible.
I loved the paralax and the art giving a very good atmosphere.
Would be nice to have a way to advance the day by not waiting for death. Not sure if there is a way through without dying.
The timer refreshes when you go back to friends, thats probably not intended.
You can! If you press Q, you can take root and move to the next day! It is mentioned in the beginning and in the controls!
oh, so I just cant read :D thanks. And I was sure I read everything since you mentioned it in the presentation.
