How was the theme(s) implemented?
i choose retrofuturism, this has modern things like newer knife and also has goblins and hand placed millions of blocks to give it the old 2000s retro feel

Where did the assets come from?

Homemade graphics

You got me right into the action and I won! It’s a bit of an odd looking game and not much of a “crawler” but you got me right to the gameplay.

Given the fiery, slowing nature of the dungeon and enemies… the music was not a good match for the game. Something more dangerous and brooding would be better.

I had a minor issue where the keys would often drop between the grid and it took me several attempts to try and pick it up.

The guys you fight are pretty creepy looking!

Step distance is too short, there's no strafe button, and there's no dungeon crawler level design to speak of, its just a wide open space. Something to keep in mind if you plan to make a dungeon crawler again in the future. Also the goblins are more like golems if you ask me. You got it the combat right though, and the music is dope!

Hi, so I played through the game and does have some serious issues.

If we imagine that this game actually conforms to the rules, then the grid size must be in the range 10-20cm. There’s no absolute minimum size for a grid but when we are talking human-sized protagonist anything smaller than 1m is probably gonna have a really really good reason why it is so small. In general it is a really bad idea to ask the physics system to move the character around, and instead use tweening to move the player character from per-deterimined grid positions to next position.

I also don’t see any attempt at implementing the theme. What you describe is anachronism and while retro-futurism perhaps necessarily is anachronistic, putting a modern tool back in time is not retro-futurism. Neither is retro vibes.

I got the totem. I concur with what the previous posters said, the steps are small but otherwise the game is fun with especially the right lethality, the health and damage of both the player character and enemies are appropriate for the jam. Thanks for sharing!

Music is really catchy and nice. Movement is a bit small tilesize or not at all. Got some improvements, but very good as a first game made in such a short time.

Developer

this was my second game but i didn't have time to fix some issues and i wanted to add a lot of things but because of exams i couldn't do that but i will try to make games a little more polished next time

Not fun, but still funny :)

The attacks give really good feedback! Feels like you have made a fps or something before haha! The tile movement needs a bit of work though, seems too small and hard to rotate to see the enemy when attacking.

Really good work though :)

If it wasn't for the movement I could of played longer but my forearm was getting wrecked :) - Overall I liked the concept and the enemies had good attack animations.

Loved the look of it, controls didn't work well on my phone to good fun.

No, I don´t see the Retrofuturism here. The tile by tile movement was more like pixel by pixel. This needs much more work. At least my keyboard got a workout ;)

Just a heads up that you are not using Grid Based Movement for your game. You have 90 degree turns but movement needs to be step based on a grid. Yours allows free movement forward and backwards. If you have time to update the movement, you should do so. Otherwise, your submission will need to be disqualified.

Developer

thank you for for saying it before the jam begins i will fix it

what should the tile size be or its anything we choose?
