  • Great work on your platformer game. All the functionality for a platformer was there. Music, Sound effects and UI would help elevate this to the next level. Good job.

The game looks great, especially the scrolling background, that's a nice touch. I had one issue of being stuck due to odd platform placement. It was at the tree early on. I lack the space to perform a run and jump and you can't jump again when your in free fall so I didn't thin you could just run past the tree.

Other than that I suggest adding sound effects and music to make the game more enjoyable.

This game is so cute! I love the level design, theres something about it thats super satisfying. I reckon if you added some music and sounds this game would feel amazing. I really liked that running increased the jump height, that was fun. I do wish the jump was a little bit more floaty though. Great game overall :D

Thank you!:)

The player drops like a rock and you might want to have a speed cap for the falling speed. Everything else is pretty tight, Great work!

Thanks!

I liked the game, your art style felt very self consistent.

"I liked the end that just had you jump into the water, that was funny" - Under Drow

I liked the end too.

Thank you! :)

Ahh good old kenny pack! Really nice smooth platformer  implementation that has its own identity, well done!

Ok. The game was good. I did not know some features was missing, so I will only comment what I see here. The movement, especially the jump could be better. Also, The levels was okay in general, but there were some areas that I could not jump into. There was one ledge I was stuck on and was not able to jump on. The gaps in between was too far away in one area and it took a lot of tries to make it to the other side. I would make it to where the player would have some leeway when jumping om a ledge or to a gap. The base game is done and it did what it set out to do, so this is still good. You can add some stationary enemies or even moving traps whenever you get the chance. This was a good effort.

Developer

Thanks! Regarding gaps, did you hold the run button (Left Shift or X) to jump higher?

I tried. but that maybe is a skill issue. It did not take away from my rating.

I actually thought that the player character controlled very nicely, but I don't know if this is an issue on my end, but I didn't hear any sound effects during my play through.

Developer

Thanks! Game has no sounds, so no issues on your end.

Super cute, it works but it need a lot of improvement on the character movement. The platforms and stage itself was fun but improving the movement would be perfect.

Thanks!

Fun little 2d platformer, of the goals you missed a few: question mark boces, warp pipes and the flagpole, as well as goomba and koopa enemies and power-ups, as well as sound. But a good effort given the time limit. Maybe try adding some of those features into your game after the jam and see how they affect the game :)

Developer

Thanks, I will definitely continue working on it!

It's a good start. A lot of the basic requirements for the game weren't done yet, but understandable given the scope of this game for a game jam is rather large. I would increase the speed of the running and play with it so that it is smoother. Running should increase velocity, and jump shouldn't increase unless you are running faster. Also, after dying, if you are constantly holding shift, it will no longer detect the run action unless you let go and re press it. Just some things that I feel would improve the game a bit. The graphics were good, no complaints there. Controls were a bit iffy, but since arrow keys were allowed I made it work - A and D would not work, it's too cramped.

Thanks for such an in-depth feedback! I will try to apply it!
