As other people have said, I encountered some bugs with hits not registering, not being able to kill enemies, that sort of thing. I will say I enjoyed the little platforming sections and when my hits did register, I thought the feedback to the player was good with the blood effects and the hit markers and everything. The guns sounded great too. There's some real potential here, you did a lot and I can see you put a lot of thought and care into making the gameplay feel good!
I'm really glad that you noticed the effort put into the 'game feel.' I now realize that trying to implement a dynamic destruction system during a game jam was a bit too ambitious, and I wouldn't have coded it that way if I had known it would cause this many issues. However, hearing that you enjoyed the impact feedback and overall potential of the game means a lot to me. I am committed to polishing this project and making it the best retro FPS experience possible. Thank you so much for your feedback!
Could you please send me a simple screenshot of the enemies not dying?
Neat game, but pretty broken. The titlescreen doesn't display correctly (its resolution is incorrect), the game is very laggy, and the other problems have been mentioned by other people already. Plus this game's music is very loud, and having an in-game tutorial would have helped this game out tremendously, not everyone's going to look through this game's Jam-page description. Nor should they
Here's how 'tis displayed in a big-window. Sure, the isntructions are at the very bottom of the screen but it isn't even visible unless you go into full-window mode https://gyazo.com/bbaa950fad9befe23562b3c0ae39c853
I apologize for the errors and thank you very much for your feedback. I had to rush the game a bit and unfortunately had to leave the resolution issues in the 2D section as they were; otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to finish most of the project on time. We appreciate your notification and sincerely apologize for the issues.
No problem at all, not the end of the world! You live you learn ~
I’m really glad you enjoyed the game and liked the visuals! I put a lot of effort into the art style. I have a specific question about the combat: Did you feel the 'weight' of the weapon when shooting at enemies? How would you rate the 'game feel' on a scale of 1 to 10? I’d love to hear your honest feedback on that!
That's very interesting, because those issues never occurred during my own tests. Could you please share your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM)? I’m trying to figure out if it's a collision bug or if the fragmentation process is getting stuck halfway because of slow delta time calculations on certain hardware. Your technical details would help me fix this for the next version!
Oyunun en başında bile düşman öldürünce böyle bir sorun var. FPS ile ilgili bir sorun olduğunu sanmıyorum.
GTX 1060- Ryzen 5 1600 - 16 gb ram var.
I totally get it now. There’s likely a logic error in the code that I just didn't catch on my end. Thank you so much for the help; I can't thank you enough! Also, while waiting for your reply, I started playing the game and I’m actually hooked—I can't stop playing! I'll give you a full evaluation in a bit.
Thank you so much ❤️
The idea isn't bad, but there are a couple of problems: 1. Enemies don't disappear after death, and it's unclear who to shoot; 2. Enemies can simply corner you, forcing you to restart the game.
Regarding the enemies not disappearing: I’m actually quite surprised because they are designed to shatter into 8 pieces upon death. I tested this many times and didn't encounter any issues. Could you please try it again to see if it’s still happening? It might have been a one-time technical glitch. Also, being cornered in those corridors was an intentional choice to add challenge and a 'Backrooms' tension, but I understand if it felt too frustrating.
On a side note (this is unrelated to the jam): If I were to make a 'Vampire Survivors' style Boomer Shooter this week—vast open areas, dashing through waves of enemies, leveling up, and unlocking new abilities—would you be interested in playing it? I’d love to hear your honest thoughts!
Hmm, that's weird. Okay, I'll launch the game again, and about the enemies that surround you, the thing is that they never disappeared for me, and even after death they wouldn't let me pass. Okay, I don't mind playing your game.
fun game! the music is awesome, the areas could be a little larger to better maneuver around enemies, I ran into a problem where I went full on weapons and I could not pass the first platform so I had to restart (it could be just a me problem), as feedback, for such platforming maybe leave speed on max from the beginning.
First of all, I apologize for not mentioning it in the controls, but there is a DOUBLE JUMP in the game (Press Space twice). Regarding the feedback; would you have preferred a different approach? (This has nothing to do with the game jam results, I am just curious for future projects).
Imagine a vast, open arena where you fight waves of enemies—basically a Boomer Shooter version of 'Vampire Survivors.' You would dash around to dodge, clear waves, level up, and unlock new abilities each time, instead of the current platforming levels. If I developed such a game in a week, would you be interested in playing it? I would appreciate your honest thoughts.
Oh I'm so sorry, it hadn't occurred to me to press the jump key a second time mid jump
As for your idea it sounds fun already, I would not neglect putting some platforming into the mix tho, take a look at arena shooters like unreal tournament, quake 3 or ultrakill for inspiration and adding a rpg system into the mix could blend really well
and sure, don't hesitate to contact me if you need feedback on this game idea
best of luck!
