love the art and the head-shaking dance! really lost myself there lol the scenes/story from martinique and paris are so real too! great job!
The game stood out to me mainly because of its rough early-2000s aesthetic. This raw and somewhat unpolished style feels very artistic in its own way and adds a lot to the overall atmosphere. The roughness actually enhances the experience and gives the game a unique identity.
The character controls also surprised me in a positive way. Even though the game is played only with the mouse, it feels responsive and works well.
In terms of story, it felt more like reading a newspaper article rather than experiencing an emotional narrative with clear highs and lows. However, this is definitely criticism on a high level, especially considering this was made during a two-week game jam.
I also really enjoyed the dance sequences in between, as they added variety and contrast. Gameplay moments like dodging the spit attacks in the “mobbing scene” were fun and added engaging mechanics.
The game clearly touches on serious societal issues. However, at times it felt like the presentation could come across as somewhat glorifying the actions, since everything is told from the killer’s perspective. This might lead to misunderstandings for some players.
It’s also interesting to note the real-life background: Thierry Paulin was eventually caught after attacking his dealer. After being released and later diagnosed with AIDS, his actions escalated further, almost like a race against his remaining lifetime to harm as many people as possible.
Overall, it’s a very creative project with a strong visual style and interesting ideas that definitely leaves an impression, despite some minor weaknesses.
Thank you so much for your detailed feedback.
Clearly, I've piqued your interest in learning more about this serial killer :)
Yes, indeed, he was arrested after beating up his drug dealer, but also because one of his victims survived and was able to create a facial composite of Thierry Paulin.
I wanted to include scenes with the dealer, the arrest, his discovery of his HIV status... but the time allotted for the game jam didn't allow for it; I had to make choices to focus on the essentials.
You've understood one thing: what I tried to convey in this game is obviously not to glorify a killer, but to address social issues like family abandonment, racism, homophobia, harassment, and drugs... all within a few minutes of gameplay.
That was one of the most unique games I have ever played. Very good job.
Great job! I really liked how you balanced the tension, gameplay, and storytelling together—it all came through in a very engaging way.
NICE BRO, i love the mouse control, and the theme of the game, nice, i like to dodge the guy spitting on me lol!
Overall, Unique game!
Consider rating my game too!
this one is actually really creative damn, i like it! controls are responsive
its a gameeee
its pretty interesting way to learn about this serial killer
overall great job!
Wow, this was really quite interesting, and the style was really well thought out. I'd have to say, this is probably the most truly artistic game I've seen on this platform. There are some areas where it's really a bit annoying, but I enjoyed it so much I happily soldiered through to see what would happen next and get more of the story. These were specifically following the old lady home (because I didn't even know that's what was happening, and once the granny got home I'm glad you made the door flash, because that whole section was annoyingly long and unguided, so I was about to give up figuring out what do do. The second annoying part was the murder. It took a very long time to progress in which you don't actually think you're progressing at all for both these parts, which was the key issue. But overall, this was a great little game and I'm happy to have played it.
The graphic is fresh and different, I appreciated it. And the history is ... touching. A good experience.
