Cute little game! Once I figured out how everything worked, I mostly managed to be successful. I like that the cauldron doesn't reset, that is a really interesting touch that sets this game apart from the other potion brewers. You really want to aim for enough ingredients to make the type of potion you need but not so much that you can't change the brew for the next potion order. Very cool.

I think a game reset button would be good to add, as I had to restart the game due to lack of money.

The Strength potion kept getting me, I couldn't figure out how to make my existing brew turn to strength. When I finally did figure it out....I had no money for the bottle. Had to laugh out loud at that, well done.

Great job!

Hey thanks for playing, that is quite a unique scenario! Definitely some work required to make this a better experience (sfx, game over loop etc) but im glad you enjoyed.

Cool game, ,first the idea is simple but I think it needs more polish, you probably lacked time so you werent able to add sfx,you could add a main menu n make the cauldron empty when you fill the potion.overall with some polish ,it can even be better.

If you have time, you can check out my game:/jam/godot-wild-jam-92/rate/4491956

Hey thanks for playing my game. Yeah youre right unfortunately I didnt get to those parts but id like to follow up a post jam version. I will check out your game, thanks.

Very simple but fun. Reading the ingredients to find out what to use for each potion was a great feature that added a little depth to the game. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing. Im glad you appreciated the flavour text.

Not being able to reset the potion is a fun twist in this. Could’ve used some hints on what exactly is being added, maybe expose the (assumed) points system, since the game has a limited runtime anyway.

The simple physics mechanic is fun.

Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing. I agreed some more work would be required to unlock this games potential.

Brewing potions is always fun, here are some notes for this game:

  • The game could use some sound effects, sound can make a game feel more polished
  • I feel like in its current state buying and moving the things feels a bit clunky, maybe would be better to buy something and instantly make it follow the mouse to put it in the cauldron
  • Since putting things in the cauldron is the main mechanic, that could be emphasized with some kind of animation and sound
  • The small goals you get to brew different kinds of potions is nice, but there should be a bigger goal for the game. I feel like if you made putting things into the cauldron more satisfying, that would help the game have some purpose even as a sim game.
  • I would sometimes get the same potion multiple times in a row and was confused if I actually brewed it or not, so maybe an indicator for that would be good too
  • The money didnt really have a purpose in the game

Hey thanks for taking the time to play and provide some feedback. 100% agree with sound and animations, I just didn't get to it in time. I'd like to follow up with a post jam version as I didn't achieve the vision I had for this game.

Using your mouse to move physically the ingredients and blending is cool, and having to guess the ingredients for the potion is cool. I didn't really understand why there was money, it only makes the game end quite brutally. Otherwise a great idea and a fun entry good job !

Thank you for the feedback. It was meant to be a bit of a shop sim game but that was really developed much so fair comments. Thanks for playing.

I enjoyed the mechanic of selecting the ingredient and physically stirring the cauldron to make the potion! Fun take on the theme and well implemented, just lacking a little more depth and direction. Great overall submission!

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback.  I would like to finish this up in the future, for sure!

The stirring mechanic was nice! Would be nice to have a bit more direction on what to do but the ingredient descriptions did help me figure out how to make the potions

Developer

Thanks for playing. I'm glad you figured it out okay. I would have liked to have done a tutorial but ran out of time.

Great concept and pretty well made, could be nice to have a potion book or a recipe list!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! That's would be a really neat feature... maybe something for post jam / extended version! :p

Your game seems very familiar. But i can't figure out why...
Jokes aside, satisfying physics. Shame you didn't polish rest of the game

Developer (1 edit)

I know unfortunately I ran out of time. Thanks! I'd like to follow up with a post jam version.

Nice work! Got a little stuck, I'm afraid. Is it possible to reset the cauldron? Once mine was green, I couldn't find a way to make it not green. More generally, some explanation of the controls would have been helpful. I figured out how to dip the bottle in, but not before I'd dropped one in the pot (which seems to be unretrievable?).

Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately I didn't get as far with the development as I'd have liked but I will update the game page with better instructions.
