Fun, adorable little platformer. Few points of note:

- I'm sorry but the music is absolute ear-poison. Also the orb's own sound-effects don't make it any better. They ring constantly. It should only be ringing when you're near/next to it yourself

- The shadowmen have a 50% chance of moving from their spots, which is inconsistent

- You're able to get stuck on ladders. Do with that information what you will

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your honesty. I will have the next update in about two weeks. I am fixing enemy AI inconsistencies and adding coyote time. I will look into the ladder situation and take your advice on the orb sound effects. I will look into replacing all music with something better. I probably won't have music up by next update, but I will at least tone down the volume. I am aware that audio is my greatest weak-point as a indie developer.

No problem, and hey, don't take any of what I said into heart! You did well, and you were able to do more than others: Make a game, be proud of yourself! I'm a GameJam veteran, most of the games I've worked on have never come out, some teams I had to leave due to disagreements and/or just a bad team. Even some games that have come out and have been released leave things to be desired

Oh my gosh he so high up😭 Cuz why it keep scrolling thoooo😭😭 The dread really started to settle in lol. I like the simple idea tho. Instantly know the goal, and platform your way up. I do personally think the game lowkey mad difficult tho. It could jus be a skill issue or maybe it's intended to be that way. But if it wasn't I'm sure some adjustments to placements in the map would help a lot. Good game!

Fun game! The wall jump was a bit difficult, but that's just me. Also, i did spawn outside of the map, but then i died and spawned in the right place.

I do love a mario-esque platformer. Had a lot of fun!

It's a good game. Enjoyed it.

Really challenging! I missed having some input buffering.

Don’t trust those idle enemies.

Difficult but fun. Nice retro art.

An annoying issue I found is that sometimes enemies block your path after respawn and you can't really pass through.

Anyways, good job!

Cool little platformer, the sections where you have to use the invincibility power up to get through (standing on spikes etc.) are creative and a good use of the theme! I personally found that the random enemy behaviour could make some areas a bit too difficult depending on where they chose to move/stand but overall nice job!

I the wall jump was so hard for me especially at the beginning of the game. Aside that you got a really nice game. I would love complete all the level. And maybe I think the giving players some health bar would be nice just like they did with Mario game. I hate when I die, I will have to go and start from the last checkpoint. Fantastic work.

This game is MARVELLOUS! I did have a hard time playing it because I don't play games that much. But still, this is really good.

This was a good game. But I will just say, controls could be improved, the enemies' movement, as well as the difficulty ramp are some of the things that I think needs immediate changes. I also had a hard time figuring out the bumpers section, they can get tricky. Other than that, great game overall for the theme. Really reminds of those kaizo levels in mario.

Enjoyed the gameplay, simple and nice controls. Audio could be set to 50 on start cuz audio should be softer on start rather than loud. Wall jump could use some work. Something like "super meat boy's" wall jump could've been emulated here, even if not 1 for 1. Does not feel intuitive to wall jump rn, needs a buffer for how long you need to run into the wall to have the wall jump to be active. ie, "Coyote Time"(See 'Celeste' game). No "Shift to Sprint" prompt(?). Not sure if that was intentional but it can make or break the experience. Doesn't affect too much for lower levels but makes a difference in how fast someone can retry a stage, so needs consideration. Sprite work was lackluster. Main character(gameplay sprite) could use some more detail comparing them to their main sprite used in the opening. Enemies also need a bit more detail though for the most part are readable enough on screen. Enemies are also somewhat too random at times when they move. Should be a bit more consistent to give player a fair chance. Camera also lags behind too much when moving either direction. Have it maybe move in conjunction with the main character's front(see Kirby's epic yarn cam). Overall decent game, has potential, needs polish.

I completely spaced on informing the user about the shift key to run function. Can't believe I did that. My bad everyone. It's on the main game web page at least, but even I don't read the controls on those when I play other peoples games. Coyote time is something I am going to add. The enemy randomness will be changed to make them more anticipatable. It's been a while since I played Super Meat Boy so I will replay that and check out their wall jump mechanics. I also didn't realize the camera was an issue, so I will be looking into improving that as well. Thank you for all of your advice.

Just finished playing 'Invincible Tower', and wow — the amount of content you managed to pack into 14 days is mind-blowing! It feels like a complete 2+ hour experience rather than a typical jam demo.

The difficulty is definitely on the hardcore side, but the random monster spawns and the well-placed checkpoints keep it fair and engaging. The intense soundtrack really fits the gameplay loop perfectly — it keeps the pressure on! And the intro really helps to set the goal right from the start. Fantastic pacing and really impressive productivity. Great job!

Rate your game. I had fun playing it. I'll leave mine here for you to play and rate when you have a chance.

Wow this is tough, reminds me of those old kaizo mario romhacks back in the day. Even with the invincibility buff I was sweating. The wall jump also added another layer of challenge

Developer

Yeah, I probably should have nerfed it more before posting. I personally don't think it's as tough as those kaizo games, but I made this, so I have keen insight on how best to pass each segment. I really thought half the audience would be able to beat this. Turns out I was way off the mark. If anyone actually made it to the boss or credits level let me know.

Submitted

It's definitely not as tough as those games. I actually think it's totally doable I'm just trash lmao. I could definitely tell it was made by a fan of the genre though, good job!

Really fun retro platformer with strong old school charm

Submitted

Platformers!! This was super fun and interesting, and I love how you incorporated the theme. The controls were a bit confusing and difficult to get a hang of, though, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless.

Submitted

The platforming was very fun, but it felt like the enemy behavior completely changed at random between deaths. Sometimes they would stand still, and other times they would run around. Still, the game was fun to play despite this issue

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I wanted to give them some randomness but, you and everyone else are right. I should have made their behavior easier to anticipate. I will fix this when I get a chance to update the game.

Submitted

Well, this is a bit too hard for me I guess :D

My main issue was that the segments felt a bit random at times, with enemies being at different places whenever you respawn at a checkpoint. It feels very frustrating to me ! In platforming games, especially hard ones, you should always feel that losing was fair, not because of a bad rng !

I really liked the retro feel though ! It reminds me of the good old ruthless platforming games from back then.  There's also a lot of content made, it's quite impressive actually ! Platformers in game jams are rarely this long. Good job :)

The controls feel a bit clunky at times (perhaps an absence of coyote time or input buffering), but the game overall feels nice, pretty good art and decent music, and quite enjoyable.
