Really fun and unique mechanic! I found it easy to get into, but quickly got stuck on one of the levels because I couldn't get the  tricky jumps right :( (the bucket level). That being said, I dont play a lot of platformers so maybe Im just bad lol. Going to come back to this and try to finish the game at some point thought! I think overall the concept is amazingly fun, with super relaxing visuals (great use of the color pallet!!) and chill music

The artwork and feel of this is gorgeous, but sadly I was bested by the first bucket lmfaooo. I could only successfully get into the bucket about 5% of the time and from there I didn't know how to continue. I agree with others that the camera can be a bit tricky, and that some more tutorialising might be helpful. Thanks for sharing your game!

Very cute game and a great implementation of the color palette.

Very lovely, I liked it! I struggled a bit with the keybinds lol, but other than that, very well done!

Lovely!! Also best application of the wisteria palette! Music is super chill, overall game felt really comfy! I'm terrible at platform games, but this one kept me a little longer! Boa sorte e parabéns pro estúdio de vocês! ðŸ’š

PLATFORMER OF THE JAM

Developer

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I'm really happy to hear you liked it :D

Absolute favorite of the jam so far!

Getting MAJOR "love letter to Celeste" vibes here, especially from the cutscenes (and now, the "B Side" stages and butterflies...) I adore the artstyle!

The "trees" section with the spiked vines early on had some funkiness with the camera snapping to upper platforms that made it hard to keep track of the player (and thus control) and some camera funkiness overall.

It was also very rough to be introduced to the cloud mechanic DURING that frustrating section.

It's bittersweet how short the third loop was...

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

wooow thank you so much!!! Really glad you liked it! Yes, Celeste was the main inspiration for the game and one of the reason we wanted to make a 2D platformer. The cloud (not having a) tutorial is a thing that keeps coming up and we agree with it, it was supposed to have one but we were running out of time sadly. It was also supposed to have an "C-side" with a lot of other mechanics but we also couldn't finish it in time and then we had to just put one short level in the third loop. Thank you for your kind words and feedback, means a lot to us :)

Audio and game design are excellent. Camera feels a bit shaky, but everything else is neat. really cool

Developer

Thank you very much, really appreciate it! Yeah the camera needs some work, we will try to solve it if we update the game in the future. Thanks for the feedback!

I adore the artstyle and music- But my will to play through the entire thing broke at the first cloud. Maybe I'm just a tat too stupid for the mechanic...... Do I have to dash out of it?

Lovely entry either way!!! I hope to see you wayyyy up in the leaderboard :D

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you very muuuuuuch!! Really appreciate the kind words, and for the first cloud: It was supposed to have a tutorial for it but we didn't had time to add in the game, sorry!

You need to jump into the cloud — inside, you can move like you're swimming (WASD/arrows). Then, while still inside, hold W (or the Up key) to exit the cloud through the top. That will give you an upward boost, which you can use to land on the top right platform (may need a spin in the air to reach it though).

Thank you so much! I'll definitely try again. The game is fun. ♥

Also, that cat in your pfp is cute as hell.

Developer

wow thank you a lot!! The cat in my pfp feels flattered :D

Nice use of the color palette and beautiful music. Some game mechanics like the cloud should be taught to the player better and in a safer environment. Also the camera feels a bit dizzy at times when you have mixed screen based camera and follow camera in the game. The platforming feels smooth though and the spin mechanic was fun to use. Overall a great entry for the jam.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much!!!! In fact, we were planning to do a appropriate tutorial for the cloud mechanic (and some other ones actually), but sadly we were running out of time and had to just let how it was initially. The camera in fact could have some more polish, we will try to solve that if we update the game someday. Appreciate the feedback!

The vibes are immaculate! really would love to play this one more but i found the control scheme incredibly frustrating, really just that you can't redirect your momentum after you've entered a spin, made the platforming sections basically impossible for me, i couldn't keep playing personally, though i still found the design very charming!

Developer (1 edit)

I'm really sorry the controls felt frustrating. Just in case it helps, you can cancel the spin mid-air by pressing the spin button again, which makes it easier to land exactly where you want. Thanks a lot for giving it a try and for the kind words, I really appreciate it!

For some reason, I really liked the beginning of the music at the start of the game) The levels are designed neatly and wisely, it's nice to navigate through them. The only thing was that it was difficult for me to use Z immediately after the space bar, and at some points I just jumped on the spot, trying to grab the opportunity to quickly jump on walls (I would have changed the button). But it's the little things, it's a great job!

Developer

Yeah, we agree the input mapping is a bit weird. You can use X to jump as well, it might fit better with spin on Z, but we forgot to add another button for spinning to match the spacebar better. Thank you very much!!! Hope you liked it :)

The scenery and atmosphere are all super lovely, it makes it feel very polished. And that cover art is just amazing! The music is beautiful, and the movements are super crisp, it's really satisfying to jump around the space. The camera panning between scenes can be a bit difficult during the platforming, it's hard to keep my momentum when the camera is moving while I'm trying to make platforms. The Z key being the spin is very difficult to hit right after jumps, I think remapping that button would make the game feel a lot smoother to play. The explanations at the start are really helpful, I love the way each interaction is broken down, and I wish those would have stayed up to the bucket and cloud section, since I was definitely feeling a bit lost there. Overall I think it just needs a bit more playtesting and polishing on the level design -- there's some really satisfying pieces here, you just need to make some tweaks so the game has better flow (the bucket could be at a farther jump distance, so you didn't have to awkwardly back up to try and make such a narrow platform). I like the challenges, I think they're exciting to get right, you just need to ease the player into it a bit more before introducing spikes, buckets, and clouds all at once without a checkpoint in between them.

Thank you very much for such detailed review! Hope you enjoyed it! I agree with everything you said and will be took into consideration if we update the game someday. (also the spin being on Z was a suggestion by one of our testers, and he insisted on it, but I agree that it was a weird choice XD)

Really love the art, really putting that palette to good work and truly one of the best looking  games this jam. And the way the story is presented and the music is really chill.  Not to mention gotta love an in-game tutorial in a jam game! Feels overall really polished and smooth. Few complaints other than the jumpiness of the camera is not for me.

Main problem is I can't seem to get past that first cloud. ;-; I don't know why, maybe I am stupid but got stuck there  and no matter what I tried on them it did not work.  For me the seamless loop seemed to be of failing there.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for the feedback! We are sorry about this cloud issue, we didn't think of a good way to teach the gimmick, but you must jump inside the cloud and then move up (with W or the Up Key) to kinda jump off the cloud (it's like you're swimming on it and earning a impulse upward), and then try to land on the platform on the right. We are sorry for that :(  we swear the game has a proper loop afterwards haha

Submitted(+1)

Hah, no worries, thanks for the tip there. I'll be sure to give it another shot soon. From the screens the later zones do look quite  neat.

Really unique platformer. The spin mechanic was super fun to use, and it led to some really interesting level design. The clouds were really well done too, and I loved how they could act almost like bounce surfaces in some spots and something you could swim through in others. The art looked great, and the music kept everything feeling cozy. The jump controls felt solid the whole time and never gave me any trouble. Also, thanks for the gamepad support; it played really well on it. I liked how you handled the limitation too. Looping things back around by adding obstacles and making the next pass more difficult was a really smart way to do it.

Developer(+1)

Wow thank you very much for the review!! I really appreciate it :)
We couldn't test much the gamepad support and that's why we didn't included it in the game description, but we are glad it worked well for you
