Even with the bugs, the idea is still cool!
Great game I love the artworks!
So quite a few bugs, couldn't brew teas, got stuck on enemies, got stuck in between the trees, got stuck between the tree and the river, and the music kept spiking in and out (at the bottom of the map nothing had sounds). All this to say, you picked some good art assets and UI elements that worked well together, and with some game testing, it would be such a neat game. As a solo dev I think you did great job. Keep up the good work!
Oh no! You hit a jungle full of bugs! I'm so sorry that happened. I knew the game was buggy, but I wanted to turn in something. It gave me an opportunity to do a bunch of things I hadn't done before (an inventory, switching tools, a crafting system, and top down enemies) and for that I'm proud. But, oh boy, am I embarrassed by the amount of bugs :(
I LOVED THE ART STYLE, it reminds me of the Zelda's games from GameBoy, it's a bit long to be a game for a jam but it stills very nice, keep on!
Thank you very much! I can't take credit for the art style though - Toadzilla (https://toadzillart.itch.io/dungeons-pack) made most of the assets, I just tweaked the colors.
I liked this! I couldn't actually brew any tea though. I had the tea leaves but couldn't brew a simple black tea to use in a nocturnal recipe. But I like the idea of going out to explore to get your ingredients and coming back to brew. Definitely has the same feeling of Dave the diver and domekeeper but in an old school legend of zelda-esque vibe. Even if the game didn't work, it was cool! Good job.
Oh no! That's a bug I hadn't run into! I knew there was one that stopped you from completing all of the orders, but I'm sorry it stopped you from even starting them :( Thank you for playing though!
No problem! I'll give it another go just to experience the game and see if I can make some progress. Also small tip, try to keep the entry/exit direction consistent in this type of game. If I have to press UP to leave the house, I shouldn't then have to press UP again to come back in because then I'll likely just walk out of the shop and go straight back in (which happened). I should be able to hold a direction when leaving/entering and not have it ping pong back and forth.
Oh yeah, I know the change of direction is screwy, but I was pushing my luck with the deadline and decided I didn't have time to fix it. It probably isn't worth a second play, but if you do give it another go, make sure you put your supplies in the chest before trying to brew anything (that's the only thing I can think that caused your bug). Another annoying thing I did, but then didn't have time to undo was making it so everything has to be in the chest before brewing anything, but teas must be in your inventory before handing over to the customer :/
I had my supplies in the chest the first time. But I went back and things worked. It was a cool concept!
Beautiful art style and a nice little area to explore for ingredients. Good work!
Thank you very much! I can't take much credit for the art style though - Toadzilla (https://toadzillart.itch.io/dungeons-pack) made most of the assets, I just tweaked the colors.
Had a great time wandering around the map picking up all the ingredients :)
Thank you so much! I had hoped that would be an enjoyable part of the game :)
I think a stronger main objective would really tie the game together, but it is really on theme and loved the art style! I went for the retro look too, love the choices you've made with art :)
Thank you! I can't take much credit for the art though. Most of the assets were by Toadzilla (https://toadzillart.itch.io/dungeons-pack). :)
Great game I love the art style! The only problem I had was I couldn't find a bat wing for the nocturnal tea
Thank you! But the credit for the art style really belongs to Toadzilla (https://toadzillart.itch.io/dungeons-pack) - they made most of the assets. Sorry you couldn't find the bat wings, they are in the caves - which were easily missed :( Thank you for playing!
Sorry that you had a bug issue, but the game feels pretty good otherwise. Similar to my game in a lot of ways! Those are some fun tea ideas
That's how game jams go sometimes *shrug* Can't wait to play your game! Thanks for playing!
